  1. 'An all-too familiar sound'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 33-1

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Anderson got a big standing ovation, and Jimmy Anderson gets his first wicket now.

The smile on Anderson's face, he strikes back and returns with a beauty. The amount of times we've seen that type of dismissal from him.

Sir James Anderson picks up his first of the summer, an all-too familiar sound for him.

  2. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 257-4 v Yorkshire 255

Surrey have gone into the lead and experienced batters Jason Roy (26*) and Ben Foakes (31*) are looking pretty settled as we approach tea.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 17 May

    Jewell b Anderson 16 (Lancs 458 v Derbys 33-1)

David Lloyd pushes the first ball of James Anderson's third over back to the bowler and then dabs the second down to the vacant third man area for four more.

Lloyd gets lucky as a top edge flies over the wicketkeeper for his fourth boundary.

Anderson bangs in a short one which lifts violently and clips the top edge and balloons over leg slip for another run.

Caleb Jewell drives Anderson to the point boundary, but then the beknighted bowler gets his revenge!

A classic dismissal as he comes around the wicket and clips the top of Jewell's off stump. It's taken him just 18 balls.

  4. Sussex's second innings beginspublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 4-0 f/o

Here we go then. Sussex are batting again after Somerset enforced the follow-on.

Matt Henry runs in to bowl the first over for Somerset and Tom Haines clips away the second ball for four through mid-wicket.

  5. Tea at Lord'spublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 v Leics 185-6

Two important quick wickets for just 10 runs has turned the tide back in Middlesex's favour as we head for tea.

Leicestershire still trail by 47 runs. The target for them will be to at least restore parity in the evening session.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 17 May

    Snater c Roderick b Singh 20 (Worcs 358 v Essex 142-8)

A full house for Worcestershire's bowlers as Yadvinder Singh claims his first wicket to dismiss Shane Snater.

Singh had been a bit more expensive than his team-mates and had yet to grab a wicket but that's all changed as he tempts Snater into a straight shot that he ends up edging behind to give Gareth Roderick his fourth catch of the innings.

One over until a scheduled tea break.

  7. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 20-0

Caleb Jewell unfurls two gems (sorry) to pick up back-to-back boundaries off Tom Bailey.

The first was a glorious shot through the covers, followed by an impressive straight drive down the ground. He finishes with another driven four.

  8. 250 runs

250 up for Surreypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 254-4 v Yorkshire 255

Surrey have reached the 250 mark and in some style as Jason Roy smashes Adam Lyth over his head for six as it clatters into the sight screen at The Oval.

And with that they've got their first batting point of the game.

Perhaps more importantly, they've all but wiped out Yorkshire's lead with six wickets in hand.

  9. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 210-3 v Notts 407

Durham have continued to build their innings, but Nottinghamshire will go to tea boosted by the wicket of Alex Lees for 82.

The hosts have taken the first innings deficit down below 200, adding 103 in the session for the loss of three wickets, with plenty of batting in the hutch.

Emilio Gay has 32 and Colin Ackermann is yet to score.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 17 May

    Cox lbw b Gohar (Middlesex 232 v Leics 184-6)

Ben Cox never got going for Leicestershire and he's been trapped LBW by Zafar Gohar.

He's gone for a 14-ball duck and Middlesex have got the upper hand in this hard-fought contest once again.

  11. Change the ball, get a wicketpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 17 May

Tea: Durham 210-3, trail Notts by 197.

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The umpires changed the ball after 60.3 overs, with Durham 204-2. I have lost count how many times a change of ball brings a wicket. Is it some kind of magic? I don't know, but I always menton it on air.

And two overs later things happened. Emilio Gay should have been out when he edged Lyndon James to Joe Clarke at first slip. He was on 30 but Clarke put the chance down.

Two balls later though spinner Liam Patterson-White found the edge of Alex Lees' bat and the Durham opener was caught behind on 82 to leave Durham 208-3.

They could have done with him hanging around for longer and the timing couldn't have been worse, just an over before tea.

  12. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 8-0

    James AndersonImage source, Getty Images

Caleb Jewell plays out a maiden to Tom Bailey.

James Anderson in to Colin Lloyd again and the fourth ball strays onto the pads.

The Derbyshire opener says thank you very much and clips it to the square leg boundary. Another textbook defensive push to end the over.

  13. Listen livepublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 17 May

Because of the rain at the IPL - no such problems here in England - the new Sports Extra 3 audio service is providing live coverage of Sir James Anderson bowling for Lancashire against Derbyshire.

Anderson hasn’t played since retiring from international cricket 11 months ago.

Tune in if you want to hear ball-by-ball coverage of that one.

  14. Somerset enforce the follow onpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex at Taunton

A very disappointing batting performance from Sussex since lunch.

A combination of poor shots and judgement has seen them lose eight wickets for just 77.

Credit Somerset who have bowled good lines and lengths and caught well, but Sussex will reflect on a dismal display with the bat.

Perhaps influenced by the game against Worcester earlier in the season which ended in a draw, Somerset have unsurprisingly enforced the follow on.

  15. 'A couple of wickets will change things'published at 15:55 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 208-3 v Notts 407

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcestershire

A couple of wickets will change things, Durham are still quite a way behind Notts.

How significant will it be seeing the back of Lees?

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lees c Verreynne b Patterson-White 82 (Durham 208-3) v Notts 407

Notts pick up their first batting point as Alex Lees finally falls for a fine 82.

He played a forward defensive push at Liam Patterson-White but it takes the edge and Kyle Verreynne pouches the chance.

Colin Ackermann joins Emilio Gay with just a few overs before tea.

  17. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 v Leics 175-5

Middlesex's Zafar Gohar celebrates getting out Leics batter Ian HollandImage source, Rex Features

An important breakthrough for Middlesex at Lord's a few moments ago as Ian Holland is bowled by Zafar Gohar for 37.

From wobbling at 81-4, Leicestershire skipper Peter Handscomb and Holland have done brilliantly to put on a partnership of 93 to steady the ship for the visitors.

Ben Cox joins Handscomb in the middle with Leicestershire still 57 runs behind.

  18. 'Derbyshire have work to do'published at 15:48 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 4-0

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Anderson originally pin-pointed the Gloucestershire game to return but injury changed that and he's finally back today.

Derbyshire have got some work to do, they'll want to avoid the follow on target.

  19. Anderson under waypublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 4-0

    James AndersonImage source, Getty Images

James Anderson is bang on the money first ball to David Lloyd.

The Derbyshire opener is up on his toes to play a backfoot punch through the offside to get off the mark second ball with four runs.

LLoyd defends the third ball and plays the fourth into the offside for another dot.

The fifth ball holds its line outside off stump and Lloyd shoulders arms, and then gets on the front foot with a solid defensive push to the final ball.

Tom Bailey will bowl in tandem.

  20. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152

The end of Sussex's first innings signals the tea break.

Will Somerset come out and bat again or will they make the visitors go again? They can ponder that choice over a cuppa.
