    Carse b Siraj 22 (Eng 453-8)

    Media caption,

'Brilliant from Siraj!' - full and straight delivery bowls Carse for 22

    Stumps splattered.

Brydon Carse backs away so early that Mohammed Siraj is barely in his delivery stride, and gets so far back he's almost in the car park.

That, of course, leaves his stumps exposed, and Siraj cleans them up despite Carse's attempted low cut.

Brydon Carse didn't quite get the roly poly there. He definitely hasn't practiced that one.

  3. Eng 453-7published at 94.3 overs

Carse goes for the Pant/Brook roly-poly ramp and almost gets bowled.

No matter, he smacks the following delivery through mid-on for four.

Philip - off to the supermarket in Salisbury

No rabbit pie for the Indian attack. Sublime tail.

Not having any criticism of Brook for his wicket there - he quite clearly tries to keep it down and roll his wrists over it, he just gets a top edge. He's got us close to India with a fantastic knock and the way he's played since lunch has turned the momentum completely in our favour. If anything, he might have been better trying to hit it for 6.

    Jack

An England player smashes 99 off 112 balls and we're slating him!? Sure, a little disappointing as we wanted the ton but Brook has given us a real chance here. Well played, lad.

    Joe, Dover

Fed up with all this negativity. Sure, players have been out to injudicious shots, but those same shots are what got them a decent score in the first place. India will be batting tonight, but will not fancy batting in the last session on a day three Headingley pitch

This Test match is setting up beautifully. We could be set for a one innings match depending on how England do here.

England have found the ability in this innings to build another partnership right after losing a wicket.

We are seeing a little bit more of the Bazball at the moment.

Brydon Carse fancies a bit of the boundary action, advancing down the pitch and slapping Mohammed Siraj through the covers for four.

England have scored 120 runs in 16 overs since lunch - that's exactly 7.5 an over.

This is the first time Chris Woakes has hit more than one six in an innings of his Test career - a superb way to bring up 2,000 Test match runs.

So basically we need to play Stokes as a specialist bowler and Woakes as a specialist batsman. Got it!

That has been brilliantly played! Chris Woakes is using all of his experience, clever batting by him.

    Media caption,

'Brilliantly played!' - Woakes hits Krishna for back-to-back sixes

    Successive sixes for Chris Woakes!

He pulls Krishna over mid-wicket and then gets his bat under a short delivery to help the ball over the ropes at third.

And that's 2,000 Test runs for the England all-rounder, who then leaves the final ball of the over - another short one - alone.

Silly shot by Brook on 99 but I guess we shouldn't grumble the bonus 100 runs from Bumrah's no-ball.

    Tim, Cambridge

Tremendous that England have got back into the game. India should have us dead and buried, but that’s sport - no-one is going to take your chances for you! England probably feeling the better of the two right now, with momentum and pressure shifted. Test cricket is the greatest.

    Fraser in Widnes.

My goodness! The stick England get from their own fans! People were saying they wouldn't get 100 runs, and India would get 600.

Uneven bounce. Not sure I'd want to be the side batting last. Win the toss and... oh.

Another delivery spitting off the pitch for four byes!

Mohammed Siraj is bowling at the same end as Jasprit Bumrah was when he saw one pass over the keeper and also falls victim to some uneven bounce.

Prior to that, Woakes drove Siraj's first delivery through long-on for four.

I am surprised that India haven't gone short at Chris Woakes. He can be quite compulsive on the short ball.

This could be a fantastic fifth day Test match, there is still so much time left.

India have used the short ball far more effectively than England so far in this match.

Despite being slightly more expensive, they have made three vital breakthroughs.

    Balls bowled shorter than 8m:

    • England - 193 balls, 0 wkts, econ 4.2
    • India - 141 balls, 3 wkts, econ 5.6

It will be intriguing to see how India play the third innings. Are they going to play safe? Or go for the win and worry more about runs, rather than how long they bat for?
