  1. Great afternoon for Agarwalpublished at 15:56 BST 25 September

    Tea: Yorkshire 198-2 v Durham 346 - Yorkshire trail by 148

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Indian batsman Mayank Agarwal may have struggled at the beginning of his Yorkshire career. He was signed for the final three matches and in his three innings to date he suffered two ducks and scored 26 runs.

But will Yorkshire's gamble to bring in a well-known overseas player pay off in their bid to avoid relegation? He's scored 116 so far today.

In comparison, Durham signed a little known Afghan spinner called Shafiqullah Ghafari, who was playing for Richmondshire in the NYSD League. They decided to play him in their final two games and left out the experienced Callum Parkinson. It's a head scratcher, that one.

Ghafari took 1-211 on his debut against Worcestershire last week and is going at nearly six an over today. Although he did dismiss Adam Lyth for 69, Agarwal has taken a real liking to him.

He brought up his century with his fourth six off the bowler and has added 62 runs in 78 balls with James Wharton. Wharton has seven, by the way.

Durham look flat in the field once again. The thought of them taking maximum bowling points seems a long way off. The body language looks that of a condemned team and has done for weeks now.

And as things stand it will be Division Two next season, unless they find some fighting spirit in the remainder of this game.

  2. Postpublished at 15:54 BST 25 September

    Notts 220-5 v Warwicks 258

Lyndon James sees out the over. 13 to bowl before the new ball.

Can Notts get to 300 by then? Feels a bit ambitious.

They will settle for wickets in hand.

Rob Yates now bowls to Kyle Verreynne, who gets a single off the second ball.

James is down the track driving into the off side for one more.

The next ball is hit to Zen Malik at short leg. But safely.

WICKETpublished at 15:54 BST 25 September

    Sibley c Brown b Abbott 44 (Hants 248 v Surrey 147 & 101-3)

Dom Sibley has helped Surrey to draw level but cannot take them into a lead as he feathers one through to Ben Brown off Kyle Abbott.

A valuable 72-run partnership between Sibley and Ben Foakes has rescued a perilous situation at 29-2.

Sibley looks accusingly at the pitch as he departs. If anything that nipped in and took his outside edge so maybe he was trying to leave.

  4. Postpublished at 15:53 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 265 v Lancashire 332-6

Incredible ball from Glamorgan's Kiran Carlson there - but not in a good way!

He's lost his grip on the ball when coming in to bowl and somehow managed to throw it almost directly up in the air - even taking the catch as it comes down from several feet.

Not sure I've ever seen anything like that before!

  5. 50 runs

50 for Dean Elgarpublished at 15:51 BST 25 September

    Essex 165-0 v Somerset 433

Width from Kasey Aldridge and Dean Elgar drives through cover point for four runs.

His third 50 of the season arrives in 122 balls with nine fours.

  6. Tea at New Roadpublished at 15:50 BST 25 September

    Worcs 123 & 161-3 v Sussex 350

Worcs will be apprehensive but probably could not have asked for much more than that with 117 runs coming at a cost of three wickets.

It was easier than day one for the Worcs batters and Daniel Lategan walks back on 18 with Rob Jones on 14, trailing by 66 runs.

  7. Play resumes at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:49 BST 25 September

    Notts 218-5 v Warwicks 258

Three balls left in the Nathan Gilchrist over. He got Haseeb Hameed out for 122 just before tea.

The new batter is Lyndon James.

  8. Postpublished at 15:48 BST 25 September

    Essex 160-0 v Somerset 433

Archie Vaughan bowls to Dean Elgar - on 49.

An attempted whip through the leg side is stopped at mid wicket.

    Elgar remains on 49.

After a difficult season and another dispiriting day in the field today, some better news for Kent fans.

The club has announced that Daniel Bell-Drummond has been awarded a testimonial year in 2026.

Bell-Drummond joined Kent aged seven and has represented the county at senior level since 2011, becoming captain last year.

He said: “It’s a great honour to have been awarded a testimonial year and follow in the footsteps of some very famous Kent players."

Bell-Drummond added he would be raising money for charities Cardiac Risk in the Young, Iggy's Fund and Platform Cricket.

  10. Final session starts at Southamptonpublished at 15:47 BST 25 September

    Hants 248 v Surrey 147 & 90-2

Interesting final session in prospect with this match still poised to fall any which way.

Washington Sundar starts the evening session with spin with Dom Sibley in his sights.

  11. Postpublished at 15:46 BST 25 September

    Essex 160-0 v Somerset 433

Dean Elgar ducks under Kasey Aldridge bouncers.

He has no intention of going after them. Maiden over.

Archie Vaughan to bowl now to Paul Walter who gets one to the on side.

  12. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:45 BST 25 September

    Yorks 198-2 v Durham 346

Mayank Agarwal would rather stay out there probably as he is motoring.

James Wharton gives him a tap of the glove as they convene at the non strikers' end and he has been a spectator in this partnership with seven out of the 62 they have added.

Agarwal moved to his century with a six and has put his foot to the floor since walking off on 116 not out.

Before him Adam Lyth posted a increasingly urgent 69 falling to a slip catch off the spin of Shafiq Ghafari.

Batting looks so easy in the sunshine at Headingley that Durham appear powerless to stop them.

  13. Agarwal 'paying back faith that Yorkshire have showed in him'published at 15:44 BST 25 September

    Tea: Yorks 193-2 v Durham 346

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Mayank Agarwal hits a six to take him to his first century for Yorkshire.

With an injured arm he raised his bat and he's paying back the faith that Yorkshire have showed in him.

    That's his 19th of his first-class career.

  14. Play resumes at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:44 BST 25 September

    Essex 159-0 v Somerset 433

Dean Elgar is 49 not out and he will face the first ball of the session, bowled by Kasey Aldridge.

Paul Walter has played a gem of an innings this afternoon and he has 100 at the other end.

    Hameed b Gilchrist 122 (Notts 218-5 v Warwicks 258)

Haseeb Hameed is beaten on the drive trying to work Nathan Gilchrist to the leg side and the Notts captain loses his middle stump.

A fine innings comes to an end and how important has it been to the Notts campaign?

Notts go to tea mid over - within 100 runs of wrapping up the Championship.

They need to get to 300 within 110 overs. 66.3 bowled so far.

  19. 'A superb innings from Hameed'published at 15:32 BST 25 September

    Notts 218-4 v Warwicks 258

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Nottinghamshire

It's been a superb innings from Haseeb Hameed and quite fitting that he's out there scoring the big runs in a season that's been brilliant for him.

  20. Tea at Lord'spublished at 15:31 BST 25 September

    Middlesex 634-9 dec v Glos 43-0 - Glos trail by 591 runs.

Gloucestershire survive what could have been a tricky ten overs before tea with relative ease.

Ben Charlesworth has been the aggressor with 30 from 34 balls, while opening batting partner Joe Phillips has taken a back seat with 12 from 26.
