Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 204-5 - stumps

The Nottinghamshire captain has had a splendid two days. He won the toss and let his bowlers do their stuff.
Warwickshire bowled with some vigour in that session but they have only really slightly put the brakes on what is going to be a very significantly Notts first innings lead.
Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 204-5
A very good day at the office for Notts, who rolled the Bears over with a brilliant display of swing and seam bowling from Brett Hutton and Australian Fergus O'Neill and then drove home that advantage with the bat.
The pair shared the 10 wickets between them - Hutton's 5-38 were his best against Warwickshire, while O'Neill's 5-19 was his best.
Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater almost wiped the lead out on their own before Slater went for 40.
There was a little flurry as McCann, Clarke and Haynes all went cheaply but Hameed kept his classy hands on the tiller.
He'll resume 25 short of a well-deserved century with the Bears needed to find some inspiration.
Sussex 435 v Surrey 90-1 - close
Mark Church
BBC Radio London commentator
I think Surrey have had a good day. They've bowled to discipline and bowled to plan and Sussex have the runs on the board with 435.
Surrey have ticked along nicely at four an over which makes it interesting for tomorrow and I still think it's a good pitch to bat on.
Sussex 435 v Surrey 90-1
That is a wrap from Hove with Surrey walking off one down but with a decent platform already established.
There has not been a great deal in the pitch all day which makes Surrey's effort of taking eight wickets all the more creditable.
With the bat they have been quite resolute in the final session. Aside from Rory Burns' rush of blood against Ollie Robinson there were few scares.
If this is to deliver anything but a draw Sussex will need to find something extraordinary in the morning in order to rush along the game.
Without Sean Hunt, who is out injured, and with Danny Lamb struggling after his shoulder injury, they could find they are an option or two short.
Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 201-5
Haseeb Hameed and Lyndon James doing their best to get to the close intact.
But there's scare for Hameed on 74.
He's forward to one from Olly Hannon-Dalby and it takes a thick inside edge on to his pad and it's looped up a long way towards square-leg where it drops just short of the diving fielder, who may have been slightly on his heels.
In Michael Booth's next over he's SO close to picking up James who misses it by a whisker.

When Haseeb Hameed had that little run in the England team early in his career he was compared a lot in sort of nature to Michael Atherton.
There are some Atherton sort of strokes in him, he's very efficient at guiding the ball down to third man and deflections.

Dom Sibley is quite the dominate presence at the crease. He's a well built guy and he seems to command the crease a little bit.
Hampshire 194-3 v Somerset 184
And that is the close of play at the Utilita Bowl with bad light ending proceedings.
That is a probably a relief for Somerset's seam bowlers who looked in danger of grinding themselves into the ground.
They were certainly getting no change from Liam Dawson and Nick Gubbins who have put on 76 for the third wicket. The pair finish unbeaten on 50 and 58, respectively.
Positives are thin on the ground for the visitors but Migael Pretorius was the most threatening of the Somerset attack finishing with 2-36.
Essex 179 & 229-6 v Worcestershire 202
This time yesterday it was Worcestershire who marginally shaded the first day.
Today's definitely belongs to Essex and Paul Walter in particular with the left-hander's super century putting the home side in a great position to win this match.
Noah Thain has offered superb, and mature, support with the 20-year-old sleeping on a career-best score and one away from a maiden first-class half-century.
The Pears did well to eek out a lead on first innings with Kasun Rajitha the pick of the Essex attack.
But their bowlers need a big morning before the batters try to knock off whatever they're set - which might be quite a few.
The pitch is easier to bat on than it was, but the lead is a very handy 210.
Essex 179 & 229-6 v Worcestershire 202
Jacob Duffy really bending his back here for a late wicket for the Pears.
He gets close shaving the outside edge of Noah Thain, who's now nursing Essex through the final over of the day with Simon Harmer.
Hampshire 194-3 v Somerset 184
Well that came as a bit of surprise but the umpires have called bad light and they are, presumably, gone for the day now.
Bit of reluctance on the part of the Somerset players who hang around grumpily on the outfield, but the Hampshire batsmen, Liam Dawson and Nick Gubbins, have gone, had a shower and got in their cars.
Hampshire are leading by 10 runs with seven first innings wickets still up. And they will return in the morning trying to add to a 76 run partnership between this pair for the fourth wicket.
Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 178-5
Grace Ballinger
The Blaze bowler on BBC Radio Nottingham
It's a not a great time for Nottinghamshire to lose a wicket just as a partnership was beginning to build.
Both sides looked settled at the crease. Notts, albeit they have had a good day but they just haven't managed to build a meaningful partnership.
It's just been Haseeb Hameed and a couple of starts around him. He's going nicely and all they need to do is stay there with him and rotate the strike.
Essex 179 & 227-6 v Worcestershire 202
Another close call - this time for Noah Thain.
Tom Taylor finds the outside edge and it speeds towards Rob Jones at second slip.
It just bounces in front of his outstretched left hand. An inch in it maybe?
Thain moves up to 49.

I'm going to give Rob Jones the benefit of the doubt. If he had been a yard further up he might have got a hand under it but it was very unfortunate.
Tom Taylor has been the unlucky bowler in this game.
Essex 179 & 222-6 v Worcestershire 202
Was that a chance?
Simon Harmer's got a rib tickler from Jacob Duffy which has Gareth Roderick leaping high to his left.
He gets his glove on it but can't hold on.
Hard to tell whether there was bat on it but the hands-on-head reaction from the two Worcestershire slips - Adam Hose and Rob Jones - and Duffy suggests there was.
The lead goes over 200.
Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 176-5

That is a terrific catch down at deep square leg by Vishwa Fernando.
It was hung in the air and he dived full length and took it with both hands.
So Nottinghamshire lose their fifth wicket.
It was such a surprising shot from Kyle Verreynne, he was obviously looking to hit it over the mid wicket boundary but he just got underneath it.
Verreynne c Fernando b Booth 29 (Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 177-5)
Think the bad-light thing might have been a bit premature.
Kyle Verreynne has picked that one up fine and he's hit it out to the mid-wicket boundary where Vishwa Fernando's taken a brilliant catch - diving forward full-length and getting both hands to it.
Bit of a gift that.
Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 175-4
There are just over 11 overs left in the day but I wonder how many of those we'll see. The umpires had a chat before Ed Barnard began a new spell in light that's certainly dimming.
Haseeb Hameed and Kyle Verreynne have continued to steadily accumulate with their stand nearing 50.
Barnard, who saw his only two overs so far carted for 25, has started in much tidier fashion with just two coming off that one.

A brilliant innings from Paul Walter.
They desperately needed that wicket and they desperately needed to break the partnership and they desperately needed to get Walter out.
A bit pressure on Noah Thain now but also I think with Simon Harmer coming out to join him they are in a good position now.
How Worcestershire would like to knock a couple over tonight.
