  1. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 93-1

Birthday boy Freddie McCann gets a bit of a gift from Vishwa Fernando to pick up his first boundary.

It's hip-high at no great pace and McCann, 20 today, helps it on its way round the corner to the boundary.

He takes a single and Haseeb Hameed gets one that spits and hits him on the glove and threatens his stumps before he kicks it away.

    Scores level.

  2. Back out at Edgbastonpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 83-1

A sedate finish to Ethan Bamber's over that was interupted by tea after the wicket of Ben Slater.

Just two leg byes off the remaining four deliveries.

There's a bit more excitement as Vishwa Fernando starts his first over of the evening session - there's a big appeal as the left-armer hits Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed on the pad.

As is often the case with bowling left arm over the wicket, that may have pitched outside leg stump.

WICKETpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 19 April

    Prest lbw b Pretorius 42 (Hampshire 118-3 v Somerset 184)

Probably hitting leg stump and Somerset have a breakthrough after tea.

Tom Prest was through the shot a little early and that hits him on the back pad. A fortunate 42 runs given he was plumb on a no-ball from the same bowler when was yet to score.

  4. 'Somerset have got to take a risk'published at 16:38 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire 116-2 v Somerset 184

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset's bowlers have got to try and build pressure by bowling dry and forcing the batsman.

If they want to score runs then they've got to take a risk from time to time.

  5. 'Robinson could be a handful'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 411-8 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Surrey won't mind where they are at the moment. They know that they'll have to bat well but there's no great demons in this pitch.

Having seen Ollie Robinson bat like that I do think he could be a little bit of a handful on this because of his height as much as anything.

I think Surrey will love to be having a good 30 overs of batting tonight.

  6. Back under way at Southamptonpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire 118-2 v Somerset 184

Jack Leach has ball in hands and Nick Gubbins faces. Two singles from the first over back after tea.

  7. 'Sun emerged to greet Notts openers'published at 16:30 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 93 v Notts 81-1 - tea

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

The dismissal of Ben Slater in the final over of the afternoon at least put a spoonful of sugar in Warwickshire’s tea, after an otherwise bitter session.

Yes, Nottinghamshire have had the better deal with the conditions yesterday and today, but they expertly made the most of them.

It took the visitors only a few minutes following the rain that extended lunch to snap off Warwickshire’s tail.

Fergus O’Neill and Brett Hutton led the team off together after sharing all the wickets equally.

As, for once, it was a full Championship innings in which the same ball was used throughout, perhaps they’ll take half each.

O’Neill brushed Ethan Bamber’s outside edge to take his fifth wicket. Last man Vishwa Fernando had barely arrived when he became the latest to miss a Hutton outswinger.

The sun emerged to greet the Notts openers. Haseeb Hameed glided two boundaries off Ollie Hannon-Dalby to get them moving.

Slater plundered a ragged couple of overs from Ed Barnard to sprint to 40, before Bamber hit his back pad. But Notts are only 12 behind and potentially 38 overs are still available today. The Bears’ all-seam attack may not be inclined to rush them.

  8. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 138-5 v Worcestershire 202

Worcestershire have chipped away but Paul Walter is the glue that's held Essex together.

There hasn't been the extravagant movement of yesterday with the sun out much more today but the Pears have stuck at it well with Matthew Waite again outstanding with figures of 3-12 from nine overs.

Walter's 69 has been exactly what the home side needed and Essex would love him to bat the rest of the innings.

At the very least they'll want to make Worcestershire get the highest score of the match to win.

The lead's 115 at the moment.

    Another really important session beckons.

  9. Record stand for Durhampublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 233-1 v Yorkshire 307

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Alex Lees and Emilio Gay have become record breakers.

They have now added 211 for the second wicket stand - the highest second wicket partnership for Durham against Yorkshire.

It beats the 204 put on by Michael Di Venuto and Will Smith against them here in 2009. That game ended in a draw.

Lees currently has 140 and Gay is on 83.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 19 April

    Robinson b Atkinson 5 (Sussex 407-8 v Surrey)

Ollie Robinson takes time to play himself in by swiping his first ball after tea for four then tries to repeat the deal next ball and pays with his leg stump. It's a fourth wicket for Gus Atkinson.

That was not very good cricket from Robinson who has thrown away his wicket. He is is capable of putting more runs on the board than five.

It brings the previously retired Danny Lamb out to bat allaying fears presumably that his injury was anything more serious than a bruised hand.

  11. 'Prest made most of reprieve'published at 16:24 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire 116-2 v Somerset 184 - tea

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset's young left-arm quick, Alfie Ogborne has impressed, picking up the wicket of Fletcha Middleton with a peach of a delivery, and Migael Pretorius ripped out Mark Stoneman's middle stump for the afternoon's most memorable moment.

The South African might well have had Tom Prest lbw with his first ball, but he overstepped, and Prest has made the most of his reprieve, adding 78 largely untroubled runs with Nick Gubbins, to put Hampshire back on top.

  12. Back under way at Hovepublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 403-7 v Surrey

Gus Atkinson with ball in hand and Fynn Hudson-Prentice to face as the evening session starts with a leg bye.

  13. 'Essex need Walter to stay'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 134-5 v Worcestershire 202

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

You're always weary of an injured buffalo and I had hoped that Michael Pepper was going to be that injured buffalo today but sadly for Essex for Pepper Matthew Waite has caused a bit more misery.

Paul Walter's role becomes ever important because Essex need him to stay there and be responsible. He needs to concentrate.

He's played nicely, played some good shots whenever he's been given an Easter egg as a present he's hit a good gorgeous four.

Even if he goes back into his shell for a few overs it's not a problem.

  14. 'Still a bit gloomy'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 224-1 v Yorkshire 307

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There were 44 overs left of the day when the players went off for bad light and tea at 3.48pm.

Two overs have been lost, but I think the possibility of getting the majority of the remaining 42 overs in will be on the slim side.

It's still a bit gloomy, even with the lights on and there's plenty of low cloud about.

  15. Big appeal against Walterpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 134-5 v Worcestershire 202

Throaty appeal from Worcestershire as Ethan Brookes strikes Paul Walter on the pad from round the wicket.

The Pears are desperate to get rid but it's a good decision from the ump. It's hit Walter outside the line.

    Essex lead by Nelson.

  16. Back under way at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 224-1 v Yorks 307

A single off the first over of the final session, Emilio Gay guiding a leg side glance off the bowling of Jack White.

Durham are only 82 runs behind Yorkshire's first innings total.

  17. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire 116-2 v Somerset 184

The hosts are firmly in charge at the Utilita Bowl with Tom Prest and Nick Gubbins unbeaten on 41 and 32, respectively.

Somerset will wonder what might have been having pinned Prest lbw with a no ball from Migael Pretorius when he had yet to score.

But on such fine margins matches spin and this one looks to turning away from the visitors.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 19 April

    Slater lbw b Bamber 40 (Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 81-1)

Relief at last for Warwickshire as Ben Slater is caught in two minds to one angled in from round the wicket from Ethan Bamber.

The left-hander is struck on the back leg and with that angle, it's taking out top of middle by the looks of it.

Slater out for a run-a-ball 40 as finally the Bears break through.

A bit of a lift to go to tea. But it's Notts' session for sure.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 19 April

    Pepper b Waite 1 (Essex 179 & 128-5 v Worcestershire 202

    Off stump exits stage left.

Matthew Waite gets just enough movement to find the gap between Michael Pepper's bat and pad as the injured wicketkeeper gropes forward.

The off peg goes somersaulting away and Waite runs, arms outstretched, towards joyous team-mates at cover.

  20. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 93 v Nottinghamshire 74-0

Vishwa Fernando into the attack replacing Ed Barnard who disappeared for 25 off two overs.

Ben Slater who did more than anyone to pull Barnard out of the attack with a lovely pick up round the corner for six the ball after steering a low one down to deep third for four.

Fernando's first ball is punched by Slater off the back foot for four...

He's in the mood. He's up to 33 with a six and six fours.
