  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 19 April

    McKinney c Lyth b Hill 6 (Durham 22-1 v Yorks 307)

George Hill has the breakthrough early with Adam Lyth taking a stinger low at second slip.

Both of the Yorkshire opening pair, Jack White and Hill, have caused Durham's openers trouble with the new ball but it is the latter who gets the wicket.

And it was a cracking ball, angled in and squaring up McKinney who gets a leading edge trying to work it legside. Lyth does the rest with a good grab in the cordon.

Looks like it hurt that one as well as Lyth inspects his hand in the middle of a celebratory huddle.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 19 April

    D'Oliveira lbw b Rajitha 48 (Essex 179 v Worcestershire 131-6)

Big wicket for Essex. Again it's Kasun Rajitha - he's got better and better this morning.

He puts another one on a perfect length. Brett D'Oliveira has to play and it straightens a touch and strikes the front pad.

They all go up and so does the umpire's finger.

The only doubt would be whether D'Oliveira got outside the line. It doesn't look like it, and he's gone two shy of his 50.

Essex have got rid of both overnight batters now.

  3. Ball change at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 129-4

Essex aren't happy with the ball. Tom Westley's led the appeal to the umpires, who've agreed to find another one after the original one fails to pass convincingly through the gauge.

Interesting it's not a box of spares. It's more like a bowling bag. Looks navy and white leather. Nice.

Anyway, they've found a decent enough replacement and Shane Snater's back bowling.

Four off the over. New old ball behaving itself.

  4. 'Essex badly needed that wicket'published at 11:44 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 129-5

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

It had been a very good 35 minutes for Worcestershire until that moment but Essex badly needed that wicket.

They needed to make inroads because Worcestershire will be trying to get a first innings lead which they are very capable of meanwhile Essex they need wickets.

  5. 'A tidy start from Hutton'published at 11:42 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 38-2 v Nottinghamshire

    Grace Ballinger
The Blaze bowler on BBC Radio Nottingham

It's been a tidy start from Brett Hutton, he's gone for a slightly straighter channel than Josh Tongue, just looking to attack those stumps.

It looks like he's getting a little movement too as to be expected.

  6. Action finally back at Edgbastonpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 38-2 v Nottinghamshire

At last we get some play in Birmingham as Warwickshire resume and, after a tight start from Josh Tongue and Brett Hutton, we've seen the first runs of the day.

Sam Hain has just caressed the 15th delivery to the cover boundary off Tongue.

    Lovely shot.

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green is out for 112 for Gloucestershire, pinned lbw by Kent seamer Nathan Gilchrist. Gilchrist now has 7-79 and the visitors are 410-9 at Canterbury.

Play has resumed at Old Trafford between Lancashire and Leicestershire. Lancashire start on 61-3.

Derbyshire batter Brooke Guest missed out on a century against Northants. He was out for 91. The game is in the balance with Derbyshire on 233-5.

Middlesex have lost their first wicket at Lord's against Glamorgan. Stephen Eskinazi was the batter to go for 39. The hosts are 75-1, trailing by 124.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 19 April

    Overton c Brown b Wheal 0 (Hants v Somerset 96-7)

And the slide continues as an edge from Craig Overton is gathered behind the stumps by Hampshire skipper Ben Brown.

It's a third wicket for paceman Brad Wheal.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hose c Walter b Rajitha 48 (Essex 179 v Worcestershire 124-5)

Essex celebrate wicketImage source, Rex Features

Early breakthrough for Essex and Kasun Rajitha has delivered it.

It's a peach of an outswinger, drawing Adam Hose forward and he can't resist a nibble. It takes a thick outside edge and Paul Walter hangs on a first slip - just getting his fingers under the ball.

Hose hangs around for a moment to check the catch was clean. It was and he's off. Just short of his half-century.

Hose and Brett D'Oliveira had just taken their stand past 100 too.

  10. 'The forecast is pretty good for the day'published at 11:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Somerset 94-6

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The early rain has cleared, there are some blue sky overhead as well as some cloud.

I think the forecast is pretty good for the day which will come as a mixed blessing I suspect to Somerset supporters.

Somerset reeling, a very disappointing batting performance after a very good start.

  11. New ball does for Yorkshirepublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham v Yorkshire 307

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham took little time to end the Yorkshire first innings this morning, with Ben Raine taking the first wicket of the day on his second delivery, havig taken two in two with the first over of the new ball last night.

He bowled debutant Ben Sears for one, with the bail nearly making its way off the field! Dom Bess was then the last man out for 66, caught on the mid-wicket boundary by Graham Clark off Matthew Potts.

Yorkshire lost four wickets for 12 runs in just six overs after the new ball was introduced. They ended up with two batting points and Durham took three bowling points.

The hosts will now be hoping the likes of Emilio Gay, Will Rhodes and Ollie Robinson can get some runs on the board following poor starts to the season.

  12. Play under way at Southamptonpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Somerset 94-6

Covers are off at the Utilita Bowl, the sun is shining through broken clouds and the umpires and players are in the middle as we are ready to get underway after a half hour delay.

Craig Overton is on strike for Somerset and Brad Wheal is set for the final ball of his interrupted ninth over.

  13. 'It's going to be hard work for the bowlers'published at 11:27 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 244-2 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It was hard graft for Surrey yesterday, it's a good pitch to bat and I thought Sussex batted very well.

I think it's going to be hard work for the bowlers in this game.

Surrey know that this is good pitch to bat on and it's a good toss for Sussex to win but I think they'll try and slow the whole thing down in terms of run scoring, of course wickets will help.

Tom Haines has a second century of the season

An effortless lean into Jordan Clark's delivery brings a single and a raise of the bat for Tom Haines who moves to 100 from 156 deliveries.

That is back-to-back centuries for the Sussex left-handed opener following his second-innings 141 against Somerset in round two and continues a very decent start to the season.

  15. Postpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 107-4

Brett D'Oliveira battingImage source, Rex Features

Essex are feeling their way into it a bit so far. Jamie Porter's trying to get to grips with Adam Hose's regular shuffle down the track and is trying to find that right length.

He's been driven a couple of times through the covers but not timed enough to reach the boundary.

Porter almost had Brett D'Oliveira earlier with one that reared sharply from a good length and almost grazed it.

Charlie Allison has just been tack-sharp at short-leg. He stopped a full-blooded leg-glance from Hose and has tried to throw down the stumps in one movement as he's gathered it.

His throw missed and Hose is grateful as his momentum had toppled him over and was short of his ground.

  16. wicket

YORKSHIRE 307 ALL OUTpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 19 April

    Bess c Clark b Potts 66

Dom Bess holes out on the square leg boundary to bring an end to the first innings.

  17. 'Batting is going to remain difficult'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 107-4

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

I think the first hour will be crucial, no question about that.

The pitch hasn't changed really, it's still very hard and very green with a little wear at either end.

I don't think it's going to flatten out and I think batting is going to remain a difficult exercise.

  18. Green resumes batting for Gloucspublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent v Gloucs 371-8

It's a rather odd looking scorecard for Gloucestershire at Kent.

The early wicket of Josh Shaw means Australia all-rounder Cameron Green has resumed his innings on 100 after retiring hurt yesterday.

James Bracey is in the middle with him - so we've got five and six batting with Gloucestershire eight down.

Two unbeaten batters on centuries - 371-8 - it could get messy for Kent.

  19. 'Sears might have got a little inside tickle on it'published at 11:13 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham v Yorks 303-9

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Ben Sears might have got a little inside tickle on it but it's clipped the top of the bails.

    Either way Sears has gone.

  20. Tidy start from sub keeper Fernandespublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 104-4

A bit more on Colchester-born Simon Fernandes, who's keeping for Essex today with Michael Pepper and Jordan Cox unavailable.

He's been a regular in the Essex second XI and made eight appearances in the One-Day Cup least season - so he knows his way around first-team cricket.

He's up to the stumps for Shane Snater and has made a very tidy start.

    A maiden from Snater.
