  1. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 142-1 v Yorks 307

This is looking a little ominous for Yorkshire with Alex Lees moving on to 92 (Emilio Gay has made it to 42) under, it has to be said, very little pressure.

Jonny Bairstow needs a breakthrough quickly here and his options appear slightly limited with his seam attack looking hittable now the shine has come off the new ball.

Spinner Dom Bess could be the one to bring about a wicket perhaps but Bairstow showing no signs of mixing things up for the moment.

  2. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 43-0 v Worcestershire 202

Allison is in to Allison again. Batter Charlie nudges one from his big brother Ben off his hip for a single.

The two do exchange words this time at the non-striker's end but it looks very friendly. Which is nice.

Paul Walter sees off the remainder of the over without too many issues.

Matthew Waite is brought into the attack. The Pears need a breakthrough here.

  3. Optimism at Edgbastonpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 92-7 v Nottinghamshire

There's been no play at Edgbaston since lunch but the latest news from Birmingham is that it's stopped and they're hoping to resume play at 14:50 BST*

*As long as the rain keeps keeps off

  4. 'Taking 20 wickets will be hard work'published at 14:27 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 319-4 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's a good start again by Surrey after lunch and this is what you'll be seeing probably by Sussex as well when they get out there with the ball.

Stump to stump, set your field up like this and make run scoring tough as possible.

We've seen how hard work it is for Surrey to take four wickets.

So if Sussex want to push this, they've got to give themselves enough time and have enough runs on the board first time round to make Surrey bat twice because taking 20 wickets is going to be very hard work.

  5. Lees and Gay making steady progresspublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 134-1 v Yorkshire 307

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Alex Lees and Emilio Gay have batted steadily since coming together with Durham on 22-1 in the morning session.

Lees has 85 and Gay 41 and their second-wicket partnership is now worth 110 runs from 160 balls.

The heavy cloud cover we had earlier has broken up and it's a lot brighter now than it was earlier, so that may be helping the batsmen as well.

  6. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 36-0 & 179 v Worcestershire 202

Nine runs from the last five overs gives you an idea how carefully Essex are building their lead.

It's bit by bit. Nothing spectacular. Waiting for anything hittable. To be fair to the Pears attack, there hasn't been.

There have been a few hints that batters Paul Walter and Charlie Allison's patience is starting to thin - both have had a a bit of a flash at wide ones from Tom Taylor and Ben Allison.

  7. 'Haines has been magnificent'published at 14:21 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 315-4 v Surrey

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Test Match Special

Tom Haines has been magnificent out there in the middle for his 138 off 239 deliveries.

He's anchored down and has been pretty much faultless in his innings.

He had a incredible partnership with Tom Alsop which really built that platform for Sussex.

  8. Division Two latestpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 19 April

Marcus Harris continues to drive Lancashire's first innings at Old Trafford. The Australian is up to 71 with his side on 176-4 against Leicestershire.

Middlesex continue to dominate against Glamorgan. They're 152-2 in reply to the visitors' 199 all out at Lord's.

Kent have just lost a third wicket against Gloucestershire, Tawanda Muyeye the batter to go, to leave them 82-3. They still trail by a massive 390 runs.

Northants are up and running in their first innings at Derbyshire. 27-0 after Derbyshire made 307.

  9. Keeping it in the familypublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 35-0 & 179 v Worcestershire 202

Here we go. A family affair. Allison bowling to Allison as Worcestershire's Ben comes in to his younger brother Charlie.

Back-garden bragging rights is one thing. First-class contests are something else.

First blood to Charlie - he wipes a wide one from Ben through the covers for four.

No words exchanged. To be fair Charlie turned away immediately.

A bit more zip from Ben with the next one. Left alone.

Charlie tucks one off his hip to pinch the strike.

That was absorbing. Can they carry on from the other end?

Anyway, Essex have a lead of 12

  10. 'Sunshine is out'published at 14:15 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire 3-0 v Somerset 184

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

The sunshine is out and the conditions are improving all the time and maybe the conditions are getting a little easier for batting.

I don't want to take anything away from that last wicket stand but I think the way they played may have suggested that batting is getting a little easier

  11. 'A draw perhaps looks the likely result'published at 14:06 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 311-4 v Surrey

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

    Sussex are going along nicely.

I would say that this does look a very good pitch to bat on and even now going into the second day in the afternoon, a draw perhaps looks the likely result.

  12. 'Bess will come into play more'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 107-1 v Yorks 307

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

You'd think that Dom Bess will come into play more as this game wears on but with so much grass on the pitch, what sort of effect will it have with ball in hand?

It's difficult to say, I think at the least what you want from your frontline spinner at this time of year is you hope that he plays a good holding role, keep things tight and give his seamers a fair bit of rest in between their spells.

  13. Back under way at Southamptonpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire 1-0 v Somerset 184

Craig Overton to open the bowling for Somerset with four slips in place and it is Mark Stoneman and Fletcha Middleton to get Hampshire's reply up and running which the former does with a single off the first delivery.

  14. Essex in frontpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 26-0 v Worcestershire 202

Jacob Duffy was tip-top in the Essex first innings and the tall Kiwi is a whisker away from picking up Charlie Allison with a lifter than screams past the shoulder of his bat as he attempts a belated defensive stroke.

A lovely cover drive from Allison off Tom Taylor's next over doesn't quite have the legs to reach the rope but they run three and Essex have the lead.

  15. Back under way at Hovepublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 305-4 v Surrey

Matthew Fisher has the ball in hand and takes aim at Tom Haines.

  16. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 18-0 v Worcestershire 202

Few alarms thus far post lunch for Essex, which will delight them and obviously frustrate the Pears.

The sun's really got its best headwear on too. Best conditions of the match so far and there doesn't appear to be much lateral movement for the bowlers.

Given that, a change in angle might be the best bet for Worcestershire and Tom Taylor is almost rewarded when he strikes Paul Walter on the back foot from round the wicket.

It's angling in but not enough with Walter getting just outside the off stump.

    Deficit down to five.

  17. Back under way at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 93-1 v Yorks 307

Alex Lees gets the middle session up and running with the first runs of the afternoon clipping Ben Sears for a couple.

  18. 'Discipline by Notts seamers'published at 13:46 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 92-7 v Notts - lunch

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

In a way it wasn’t the special deliveries that put Warwickshire in so much trouble this morning, although there were a few of those.

What really made the difference was the discipline shown by the Nottinghamshire seamers in between them.

Sam Hain and Hamza Shaikh set out carefully in demanding batting conditions, determined to linger until respite from the harsh weather or bowling arrived.

Neither did. Shaikh, bowled for the fourth time in five innings, could justly claim that it took a particularly well-crafted ball from Ben Hutton to shift him.

Fergus O’Neill settled into a mean spell, persuading Dan Mousley to drive over a straight ball and Ed Barnard to nick a sharp chance to second slip.

Hain batted with more poise than the others until O’Neill ducked a ball into his pads, and in the same over left Michael Booth looking bemused after finding his off-stump flat.

Drizzle finally brought Warwickshire relief 10 minutes before lunch, but probably too late to save their innings.

  19. 'Harris displaying skill & technique'published at 13:44 British Summer Time 19 April

    Lancashire 153-4 v Leicestershire - lunch

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Manchester

Marcus Harris displaying all his skill and technique to navigate Lancashire to lunch both yesterday and today.

Unbeaten overnight on 19 he's now gone past 50, the fourth time that's happened in just his fifth innings for the Red Rose.

Matty Hurst lived a charmed life, dropped twice yesterday and once this morning the only wicket Lancashire lost in the morning session.

Luke Wells having to retire hurt this morning, he took a nasty blow to the elbow from a Ben Mike delivery, it remains to be seen just how soon he'll be able to resume, if at all.

Conditions have been tricky for the batsman throughout this game so far, it has the makings of being a potentially low scoring game.

  20. Essex start their second digpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 & 7-0 v Worcestershire 202

First things first for Essex - wipe out this 23-run deficit.

Paul Walter and Charlie Allison have safely got through Jacob Duffy's first over.

Allison's gentle steer to vacant deep third brings the first boundary.
