  1. 'Middlesex still in control'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middlesex 118-2 v Glamorgan 199

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Middlesex are still in control going into the afternoon session but Glamorgan have worked hard to drag things back after a poor start yesterday.

Resuming at 63-0, Middlesex lost Steve Eskinazi for 39, driving Timm van der Gugten to a diving Ben Kellaway at point as the Dutch international bowled four consecutive maidens and Ned Leonard also started tightly.

The attritional cricket continued as Max Holden dug in alongside Nathan Fernandes, with only the odd stray delivery from Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando providing any respite from the seamers’ grip on the run-rate.

Fernandes fell on the stroke of lunch edging van der Gugten to slip for a patient 58, with only 55 runs coming in the session.

  2. 'Lower order showed plenty of fight'published at 13:31 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Somerset 184 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset’s lower order showed plenty of fight this morning, with useful contributions from Jack Leach, Migael Pretorius and young Alfie Ogborne, who kept the Hampshire bowlers at bay for 48 balls.

His last wicket stand of 48 with Pretorius, who finished unbeaten on 47 will have lifted the visitors’ spirits as well as their score, although 184 still looks well below par.

  3. 'Good morning for Surrey'published at 13:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 305-4 v Surrey - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good morning for Surrey who have restricted Sussex to just 78 runs in the 34 overs bowled in the session

Rory Burns has set largely defensive fields and supported by his bowlers has made run scoring difficult.

Matthew Fisher has again been the pick of the bowlers on a pitch offering little or no help to the seamers, bowling an excellent line and length.

Tom Haines has batted through the session reaching his second century of the season and 14th of his career.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 19 April

    Ogborne b Wheal 6 (Hants v Somerset 184)

Alfie Ogborne loses his off stump to finish the Somerset innings and bring forward an early lunch but he can walk off with his head held high after sharing a 48-run partnership for the final wicket.

Migael Pretorius finishes with Somerset's top score, unbeaten on 47, which lent a little respectability to their score, albeit not much.

And Hampshire, whilst frustrated with that last stand, are very much in pole position.

Brad Wheal took that last wicket to give him 4-46 and share bowling honours with James Fuller who was just the pick with 4-42.

  6. rain stops play

Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 92-7 v Nottinghamshire

The rain has returned to Edgbaston and the players are off. It is 10 minutes before the scheduled lunch break, given the delayed start but it's the end of the morning's action.

That action firmly belonged to Notts and Brett Hutton and Fergus O'Neill in particular.

Once Hamza Shaikh went to Hutton for 22, the Bears crumbled in the face of some top bowling.

The loss of Sam Hain for 43 added a real gloss to Notts' morning as the Bears lost 5-32.

They may well hope the rain continues to fall.

  7. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 19 April

    Durham 91-1 v Yorks 307

Alex Lees battingImage source, Getty Images

A solid morning's effort from Durham who arguably hold the upper hand in this contest after an excellent start to their reply.

Alex Lees has led the way with 53, the 24th half-century of his Durham career and Emilio Gay, after a steady start, has joined the party to finish unbeaten at lunch on 30.

Yorkshire have a bit of thinking to do at lunch. Outside of a decent start with the new ball they have not caused enough problems.

  8. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 305-4 v Surrey

Just about Surrey's morning but this has been hard graft to take the two Sussex wickets for 68.

Tom Haines, whose concentration and shot selection has been impressive, has had few alarms on his way to 132 bar the odd one that has bounced lower than expected.

Sussex are in a solid position but this is clearly not an easy track to take wickets on.

  9. 'Notts have got to fancy their chances'published at 13:13 British Summer Time 19 April

    Warwickshire 92-7 v Nottinghamshire

    Grace Ballinger
The Blaze bowler on BBC Radio Nottingham

That's a massive wicket in the context of the innings and potentially in the context of the game.

Notts bowlers are firing and they've got to fancy their chances here early doors.

Their seamers have bowled excellently, it's very seam friendly conditions but you've still got to bowl well and the certainly have. The line and lengths have been brilliant.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 19 April

    Booth b O'Neill 4 (Warwickshire 92-7 v Nottinghamshire)

    Fergus O'Neill again!

And it's another superb delivery. Not much Michael Booth could do about that as he plays forward and hears the clatter of his off stump leaving the scene.

    Two wickets in five balls.

    The Bears deflating fast.

  11. 'Essex's catching has been exemplary'published at 13:10 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 202 - lunch

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

Essex have been quite good in the field, generally speaking.

They dropped three or four in the last two games but their catching in this particular game I think has been exemplary.

  12. 'It's been Surrey's morning'published at 13:10 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 303-4 v Surrey

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

The new ball has done the trick here for Surrey.

It was a good catch from Matt Fisher, who is in the action, he's picked up a couple of wickets.

It's been Surrey's morning, they've picked up a couple of wickets and they've restricted Sussex in terms of the runs they've scored.

  13. One-innings match beckonspublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 202

Worcestershire's added 104 for the six wickets that fell this morning and Essex will be pretty content with that.

Although the skies are much brighter than yesterday, there is still help in the surface for the bowlers.

Kasun Rajitha was the pick with four wickets on his debut with a couple each for Thain, Snater and Porter.

The Pears' lead is only 23.

    Brilliantly set up this.

Over to the Essex batters after lunch...

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hain lbw b O'Neill 43 (Warwickshire 87-6 v Nottinghamshire)

    Big one for Notts.

Fergus O'Neill has been outstanding today and now he's got the large fish as Sam Hain is pinned on the crease playing across it a touch.

Hain is disappointed - maybe he thinks it might've been going down - but he's got to go. Out for an excellent 43.

Notts have the door ajar and will want to barge right through.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 19 April

    Coles c Fisher b Atkinson 10 (Sussex 302-4 v Surrey)

Good catch at fine leg by Matt Fisher and a first wicket of the summer for Gus Atkinson.

Shortish from the Surrey and England man and James Coles seized on it pulling while not quite getting as much on it as he wanted.

There was still plenty of work for Fisher to do coming in from the boundary edge but he has dived forward at the last moment and picked it six inches off the turf.

Surrey have worked hard for their morning spoils.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 19 April

    Allison c Fernandes b Thain 10 (Essex 179 v Worcestershire 202)

Worcestershire's innings is done. Ben Allison who had whacked Noah Thain back over his head to help bring up the 200 is the final batter to fall.

Thain's had his revenge getting Allison to nick through to Simon Fernandes behind the stumps.

Worcestsershire all out for 202 - a lead of 23

  17. 300 runs

300 up for Sussexpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 302-3 v Surrey

Tom Haines pounces on a bit of width from Dan Worrall and sends that screeching through the covers for an elegant four to bring up Sussex's second batting bonus point.

This pitch is looking pretty benign even with a new ball in Surrey's favour although there has been a little bit of uneven bounce on occasions.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 19 April

    Taylor c Snater b Rajitha 3 (Essex 179 v Worcestershire 192-9)

Sri Lankan paceman Kasun Rajitha has a fourth on his debut.

Tom Taylor with a lofty drive. It's edgy and loops out towards cover where Shane Snater trots round to take a simple catch.

Essex one away from batting again.

    Worcestershire lead's 13.

  19. 'You're never really in'published at 12:53 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 179 v Worcestershire 188-8

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It's a good catch at first slip by Paul Walter, this time going at a better height for him than the one he took by his ankles this morning.

Ethan Brookes has gone for a very decent 24 but just proving once again what we've been saying throughout this game, literally from ball one, that you're never really in on this pitch.

There's nothing between these two sides as the moment.

  20. 'Surrey have shut down boundaries'published at 12:52 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex 291-3 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

I think Surrey have been very good this morning so far.

It's not straight forward this. They've shut down boundaries and they've made run scoring very difficult
