Alex Lees passes 50 for the second time in the match, drilling Will Jacks to the unguarded long-on boundary.

Lees has taken 94 balls to get there and his batting, both today and yesterday, is one of the main reasons Durham are currently looking odds on to return north with a draw.

Another landmark for Ben Compton, who follows Northamptonshire's Saif Zaib and Derbyshire skipper Wayne Madsen in passing 900 runs for the season in Championship Division Two.

He is 13 not out and Daniel Bell-Drummond has 18 - but Kent still trail by 94.

Kent are 58-2 in their second innings - 98 behind - after Northants declared on 722-6, with Saif Zaib and Justin Broad making unbeaten centuries.

Gloucestershire are 179-4 against Glamorgan, a 31- run lead, and Miles Hammond is now 74 not out.

Emilio Gay maintains his perfect conversion rate of 50s to hundreds as he brings up his third Championship ton for Durham from 98 balls.

The left-hander cut Will Jacks for another boundary before taking a single off the next delivery to bring up his hundred.

Surrey won't give up just yet, but time is running out - and they still need all 10 second-innings wickets.

Jack White is a good bowler, he just seems to get something out of just about anything from what we've seen this season on the different surfaces he's played on this season and in the different conditions.

He tempted Michael Pepper into playing at it there, that was the key there.

Pepper who has put up some stubborn resistance for his team again against Yorkshire this season but it's not been quite his day today.

It's his second century in successive Championship matches following his 104 against Warwickshire and has taken him 138 balls.

Stoppage in play as Alex Lees latches onto a short ball from Dan Worrall and pulls it powerfully away in the direction of the boundary - but it thuds instead into Ryan Patel, at short leg.

Fortunately Patel seems fine to continue and now those concerns have been eased, Surrey will turn their attention back towards another pressing issue - where on earth a wicket might come from.

At the moment, Lees and Emilio Gay are looking extremely settled.

James Bracey stands tall and steers a ball from Ben Kellaway through point for his first boundary of this innings at Sophia Gardens.

Partner Miles Hammond is 71 not out and Gloucestershire lead by 26.

Spare a thought for Worcestershire.

They are in the 179th over in the dirt, having asked Hampshire to follow-on, and still striving to find the six wickets they need for a memorable win.

Stand-in skipper Jake Libby has been on the field for every ball of the match.

Some effort in a week like this.

Will his side have a victory to show for their efforts, however?

Runs were never going to be an issue in this Durham second innings, but Alex Lees and Emilio Gay have taken advantage of some predictably attacking fields to score at a fair rate of above four an over.

There was a close call for Gay just now when he tried to evade a tricky Dan Worrall bouncer and gloved it behind.

But the ball was rising sufficiently that wicketkeeper Josh Blake, at full stretch, could do no more than lay a single glove on it.

Just one boundary in the past 21 overs for Warwickshire, who are doing their best to squeeze the life out of the contest.

Zen Malik has yet to score in 14 balls with Sam Hain on 20* at the other end.
