WICKETpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 2 July

    Singh b Chahal 27 (Kent 566-8 dec & 29-2 v Northants 722-6 dec)

Youngster Ekansh Singh races to 27 with five fours - but now he's gone.

Yuzvendra Chahal turns one past the outside edge of his bat and knocks out his off stump.

Ben Compton has faced 17 balls at the other end without scoring a run - Kent are 127 behind as Daniel Bell-Drummond walks out.

  2. 'John Simpson seems to have the Midas touch'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 169-3

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

It looked to me as if there was a bit of bounce there for James Coles. It was turned by Tom Latham and Danial Ibrahim takes a good sharp catch in at short leg.

Just as we were thinking that this came was drifting into a draw, all of a sudden Sussex pick up a wicket.

Another good bowling change by John Simpson who seems to have the Midas touch here.

  3. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 159-4 v Notts 509

That is the worst ball Liam Patterson-White has bowled today by some distance.

And talking of distance, Tom Kohler-Cadmore launches the half-tracker out beyond the mid-wicket boundary for a maximum.

He moves to 87 not out.

  4. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 152-4 v Notts 509

Tom Kohler-Cadmore hit Farhan Ahmed out of the attack earlier on.

How will he approach another young spinner, Freddie McCann, as Notts give him his first bowl of the match?

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 2 July

    Latham c Ibrahim b Coles 69 (Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 169-3)

    Now then.

Another for James Coles who gets a little extra bounce and Tom Latham glances off his hip but straight to short leg Danial Ibrahim who takes the catch infront of his throat.

Bears lead by 51 with 45 overs and change to come, but only have seven wickets in hand now.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 2 July

    Cox c Bairstow b Revis 55 (Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 107-7)

That could be the key wicket for Yorkshire!

Matthew Revis, who's already had a memorable game with the bat, comes up trumps bowling wise too as he persuades Jordan Cox to attempt an airy drive outside off stump.

The inside edge flies through into Jonny Bairstow's gloves and Cox is on his way.

Noah Thain comes out to replace him, with Essex leading by just 16 and three wickets standing.

  7. 50 runs

for Ben Brownpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 191-4 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

A captain's innings from Ben Brown.

He got a life last night as he was put down at backward point but has batted through the day to bring up his half-century in 162 balls with his 8th four, pulled sweetly off Ben Allison.

That's also the 50 stand with Liam Dawson for the fifth wicket.

    Pears hopes are fading.

  8. 50 runs

for Emilio Gaypublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362 & 75-0

    Emilio GayImage source, Getty Images

A crunching on-drive by Emilio Gay brings him his ninth boundary of the innings and takes him to 50.

That ends a testing over against Tom Lawes, who troubled the opener with one ball that kept low and another short one that forced him to duck.

Gay has converted both of his previous half-centuries for Durham into hundreds and, if he can make that three, the visitors should be on their way to safety.

  9. 'Kohler-Cadmore might hit a couple more sixes'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 152-4 v Notts 509

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Tom Kohler-Cadmore might hit a couple more sixes but he might hold out as well.

If Notts can get rid of him who is the set batsman?

Knowing Kohler-Cadmore he might find it hard to resist I think.

  10. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 146-4 v Notts 509

A rare poor ball by Liam Patterson-White, as Tom Abell whips a full toss through mid-wicket for four. Somerset 16 ahead - but a couple of quick wickets and......

  11. 50 runs

for Jordan Coxpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 98-6

Jordan Cox, EssexImage source, Rex Features

Jordan Cox nudges Matthew Revis into the off side and cruises through for a single that brings him a half-century - the fourth time he's passed 50 in Championship cricket this season.

This could prove to be the most valuable of those if it enables Essex to clamber towards a draw here.

It also signals the 50 partnership with Michael Pepper - more than half of Essex's runs in this second innings.

  12. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 166-2

As if the spin of Jack Carson and James Coles wasn't enough, Ollie Robinson is bowling off-breaks at Hove.

The England quick (do we say former?) loops one in to Sam Hain which grips and turns in the pitch and beats the bat but looks like it's sliding down leg side when it thuds the pads.

Nothing doing after a rather half-hearted appeal from Robinson.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 2 July

    Van Buuren lbw Kellaway 22 (Glamorgan 528 v Glos 380 & 149-4)

    Ben KellawayImage source, Getty Images

Graeme van Buuren goes back onto his stumps, the ball turns and he is plumb in front.

Ben Kellaway has 3-61 now to go with his superb century in Glamorgan's first innings.

Miles Hammond is 54 not out and has been joined by James Bracey - Gloucestershire lead by one run.

  14. new ball

New ballpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 179-4 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

Ben Brown and Liam Dawson are not batting for runs, they are batting for time.

They have added 39 together but more importantly have eaten up more than 17 overs.

Worcestershire have rolled the dice, for the final time perhaps, by taking the new ball and tossing it to Tom Taylor.

The deficit is still 279 with 52 overs left in the day.

  15. Latest from Canterburypublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kent 566-8 dec & 12-1 v Northants 722-6 dec

We've lost track of the number of rain interruptions in Canterbury.

But play it set to resume at 14:30 following the latest one - and there are 48 overs left in the day's play.

  16. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 138-4 v Notts 509

Somerset may be five runs in front now, but Notts haven't abandoned hope of victory by any means.

Liam Patterson-White continues his marathon spell in search of what would be his seventh five-for in first-class games.

Another tidy over ticks by. Just three runs from it.

  17. Postpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 92-6

A key target is ticked off for Essex as Michael Pepper edges Matthew Revis through the slip area for four runs - it means the visitors now have a lead.

Pepper is 18 not out and this partnership with Jordan Cox could yet be the one that saves the visitors from defeat. Still plenty of time left in this game, though.

  18. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 163-2

Big celebrappeal from Sussex as Jack Carson spins one in to Sam Hain which nicks... something... on the way through to John Simpson's gloves.

The keeper and the slips sprint off towards Carson who wheels away with his finger in the air but Hain stands his ground and the finger is nowhere to be seen.

Perhaps it flicked the pad on the way through. Either way, he remains.

Warwickshire have built a lead of 45 with eight wickets standing and 50 overs remaining in the day.

  19. LANCASHIRE BEAT DERBYSHIRE BY 261 RUNSpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 2 July

    Derbyshire 251 - target 513 to beat Lancs – need 374

James Anderson in the fieldImage source, Rex Features

Winless no more. Jimmy Anderson's Lancashire have looked far more like the Red Rose of old and have inflicted a first defeat of the Championship season on Derbyshire.

The Division Two promotion race is shaping up to be one for the ages.

Keaton Jennings and Chris Green centuries inspired the visitors to a total of 367 at Chesterfield and they secured a 106-run first innings lead with George Balderson taking 4-71.

A quickfire 406-6d followed, with Ashton Turner making an unbeaten 121 and Balderson smashing 82 and the he did the trick with the ball again, claiming another four as the hosts were bundled out on the final day.

Wayne Madsen was left stranded on 95* as Tom Bailey tempted last-man Jack Morley (0) into an edge to the slips, where Anderson himself took the decisive catch.

  20. 50 runs

partnership for Lees & Gaypublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362 & 52-0

So far, so good for Durham as Alex Lees and Emilio Gay bring up the 50 partnership in their second innings - and most importantly, continue to use up overs.

Gay has been the senior partner in this stand so far, scoring 36 to the skipper's 16.
