    Glos 300-5 v Middx 445

James Bracey tries to swing Josh de Caires down the ground but picks out mid-on.

So Graeme van Buuren is needed to raise 300 for The Shire's second batting point.

Middlesex will probably carry on now themselves to try for at least one more wicket and another bowling point in the remaining 40 minutes.

  2. 'Hampshire will just tick down the overs'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 164-2 (target 358) v Hants

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

We're watching a slow death of this game unfortunately.

Hampshire will just keep ticking down the overs.

  3. dropped catch

Libby droppedpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 171-2 (Target: 358) v Hants

A difficult chance on the deep square leg boundary but a chance.

Jake Libby (75) sweeps Felix Organ hard and Sonny Baker puts it down despite a good tumbling effort.

Adam Hose then launches a huge six over long on as Worcs take 13 from the over.

    Worcs 158-2 (Target: 358) v Hants

Some hard running in that over from Kyle Abbott but no boundaries with seven coming from it.

  5. Postpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 1 August

    Northants 550-9d v Derbys 377 & 163-5

Derbyshire trail by 10 but have enjoyed a solid partnership of 109 that looks like taking them to safety.

Still 51 minutes available and Northants will keep pressing you feel.

  6. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 1 August

    Glos 283-4 v Middx 445

Three overs until the final hour at Cheltenham.

You'd think Gloucestershire will keep batting for a second point and then shake hands.

Would there be time to get to 350? Possibly. So they could go on. Middlesex may also fancy a shot at another bowling point.

Joe Phillips has just been dismissed for a career-best 136.

And any cricket is good cricket at the College. The final knockings of first-class cricket on this wonderful ground for another year.

    Notts draw with Somerset

It was Hameed who set Notts up with a chance to force victory after his wonderful 208 yesterday.

But the scoring in those first two innings was only very steady and time was always against a victory.

It's a dent in Notts' bid for a first title since 2010. But they remain right in the hunt - 17 points behind Surrey with three games to play.

The two sides meet in the penultimate round in September.

Somerset are back in fourth, 34 points adrift, but the dream of their maiden Championship still burns.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 1 August

    Kashif Ali lbw b Baker 65 (Worcs 138-2 Target: 358 v Hants)

Worcs are throwing the kitchen sink at this with Kashif Ali walloping Sonny Baker 2,4,6 to move into his 60s.

But they will probably need to throw the cupboards, washing machine and fridge at it now as well as the bowler has the last laugh pinning Ali as he looks to swing the ball towards square leg.

That brings Adam Hose to the crease.

  9. 'The game has been spoilt by a dead pitch'published at 16:55 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 554 v Somerset 438 & 200-5

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Both will lose ground on Surrey with the draw.

It's a shame that the game has been spoilt with a dead pitch and a poor kookaburra ball.

Today has been exciting, right from the start with Notts losing those early wickets and some attractive stroke play from Rew and Lammonby.

Followed by a very stubborn partnership from Abell and Banton.

  10. NOTTS DRAW WITH SOMERSETpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 554 v Somerset 438 & 200-5

I stand corrected and Haseeb Hameed offers his hand to the batsmen at the earliest opportunity.

Somerset were really wobbling at 103-4, still behind, but Tom Abell, with 51, and Tom Banton, 43 not out, have eaten up enough time to see the visitors to safety.

  11. 200 runs

up for Somersetpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 200-5

There's still some decent turn available but Somerset are ticking the time and overs down.

19 remain and the lead is 94. We'd lose two and 10 minutes for a change of innings.

Notts may not quite give this up at the top of the hour but it's looking very unlikely they can force victory now.

  12. KENT DRAW WITH LEICESTERSHIREpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 1 August
    Breaking

Kent (445-8) drew with Leics (471)

This rain-affected game in Canterbury has inevitably ended in a draw and it all but secures Leicestershire's promotion to Division One.

The table-topping Foxes are now 65 points clear of third-placed Derbyshire, who may cut that lead slightly if they can scrape a draw at Northants.

No one's catching Leicestershire with three games to go.

  13. dropped catch

Kashif Ali droppedpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 107-1 (Target 358) v Hants

It was difficult but James Fuller has failed to hang on to a lofted drive coing over his shoulder after running back from mid off.

Kashif Ali had 33 at the time and, typically for the bowler Sonny Baker, finishes the over with plenty more, hoiking his last ball over deep midwicket for six.

  14. 'It's a lot more gloomy now'published at 16:37 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 190-5

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

We have had one of these games which features a hat-trick, we might need something similar.

Had Somerset been five wickets down already, it may have been a bit different.

It's getting a lot more gloomy here now.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 1 August

    Abell 51 (Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 190-5)

Just when it was slipping away Notts give themselves hope.

Tom Abell is done by a beauty that turns away from Calvin Harrison to graze the edge to the wicketkeeper.

He was a fraction tentative in his defence and that's cost him.

    The lead is 84.

  16. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 86-1 (Target: 358) v Hants

For all that this pair have not hung about the run rate has risen to 8.50 an over which wouldn't be a shoo-in in the Blast let alone the County Championship.

Jake Libby can throw down an anchor with the best of them but has skipped to a 57-ball 50 and Kashif Ali is at a less than express 32 from 61 balls.

Either they get a move on or slow down and shake hands.

  17. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 187-4

The Toms, Abell and Banton, have picked up where they left off before tea and have taken any sting out or the situation after the break.

The lead is 81 and Notts need a breakthrough fast to take this into the final hour.

Abell goes to fifty in 110 balls.

  18. 'A magnificent match for Abell'published at 16:28 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 189-4

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A magnificent match for Tom Abell.

A century in the first innings and another 50 in this one. Somerset are nearly safe.

  19. 100 runs

for Phillipspublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 1 August

    Gloucs 218-3 v Middlesex 445

    Well batted!

There's little riding on the game apart from bonus points, but this has been a superb innings from 21-year-old Joe Phillips.

The Gloucestershire number three brings up his maiden first-class century.

Two fifties and now a hundred in his last three innings at Cheltenham College over the past week.

  20. Back on at New Roadpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 63-1 (Target: 358) v Hants

A couple of singles off Eddie Jack for Jake Libby (36) and Kashif Ali (23) start off the final session of the match.

Plenty needed in double quick time, too.

You would imagine they will keep at the chase until they lose a couple more wickets.
