    Essex 602-6d v Warks 481-9

Resuming 90 not out, Ed Barnard gets through to his second century of the season.

He'd ran down the pitch to lift Matt Critchley over long-on for six before sweeping him for his 14th boundary to reach three figures in 114 balls.

    Bears trail by 121.

And a second almost straight away for Somerset!

Brett Hutton, first ball, with a firm drive back at Josh Davey who gets down low by his left boot to take a tremendous caught and bowled.

    Wonderful catch.

    The lead is 83.

An early wicket for Somerset as Liam Patterson-White falls short of his half-century.

A very tame end, there too soon looking to push Jake Ball to leg and simply taps a catch up to midwicket.

It's just what Sussex didn't want.

    It was a tentative prod.

Any nerves for Yorkshire this morning will be gone. You feel this new partnership will be very important for Sussex.

    Ibrahim c Lyth b Milnes 51 (Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 v 116-4)

Sussex lose their first wicket in the second over of the day and that is just what they did not want.

Danial Ibrahim stuck around for most of the final session last night but lasts just eight this morning after he offers a tentative prod and edges to second slip.

Lyth still had plenty to do, going down to his left quickly to grab it low, but that has struck a telling early blow for Yorks as they chase this win.

  6. Under way at New Roadpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 139-2

Day four promises to be a decent contest but only if Worcs can take the remaining eight Hants wickets in double quick time.

They will be hoping for a similar collapse to the one that saw them lose their last eight for just 62 runs yesterday, something centurion Jake Libby admitted was "very disappointing".

Still with Tom Taylor taking 5-55 in the first innings and now lining up Tilak Varma in his sights as play gets under way, anything can happen. Hants quick Sonny Baker took 5-72 yesterday as well.

  7. Under way at Scarboroughpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 115-3

Jack White has the ball in hand with Danial Ibrahim on strike. There is a breeze whipping across the ground, too.

Yorkshire may have finished day three slightly frustrated by the two Dans, Hughes and Ibrahim who put on 95 for the fourth wicket.

But they are about to kick off day four brimming with confidence they can wrap this up today.

As George Hill put it colourfully last night, there are "some pizzas" on the strip for spinner Dom Bess to aim at. "And it's only going to get worse."

In addition, Sussex will have to contend with a new ball in 36 overs seven wickets does not look too much to ask for.

The visitors do not look likely to get any help from the weather either with barely any rain forecast for today.

  10. Surrey stretch leadpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 1 August

Thursday result: Surrey beat Durham by five wickets

Division One leaders Surrey wrapped up a five-wicket win at Durham yesterday to pull 22 points clear of second-placed Notts.

Nottinghamshire will reduce that lead a bit once their game against Somerset is finished today, but that looks likely to end in a draw.

Can anyone stop Surrey winning a fourth County Championship in a row?
