    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 129-4

The two Toms, Abell and Banton, are trying to ease the situation for Somerset.

They only lead by 23 and still have an awful lot of batting to do to save this game.

Spin operating at both ends for Notts with Liam Patterson-White and Calvin Harrrison trying to exploit this wearing Trent Bridge wicket.

What a magnificent innings this has been from Ben Compton.

Stretched over three days because of rain, the Kent opener goes to 200 with his 19th four.

Next target... his career-best score of 217.

  3. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 4-0 (target 358) v Hants

    Here we go...

Worcs have to give this a crack at least for a while and Gareth Roderick has signalled intent with a four off the second ball from Kyle Abbott.

  4. Rain arrives at Chelmsfordpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 96-1 v Warks 485

Well this may settle any debate over Essex’s tactics this afternoon.

Although the forecast is not looking great.

  5. Hants 313-7 declared, lead by 357published at 14:32 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 313-7 dec

Was that the over that killed this match for Worcs?

Kyle Abbott has gone 4444.4 off Adam Finch to push the lead out to 357 and then Ben Brown has called them in.

With 55 overs left in the day Worcs need to score at 6.5 an over which is surely out of reach.

The really need a victory to stand any chance of staying in Division One.

  6. 'The crowd are getting edgy'published at 14:31 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 180-7

    David Townsend
    BBC Radio Leeds

You feel the crowd are getting a little bit edgy and a bit impatient.

The first three wickets went very quickly so they were probably thinking they would be out of here by now.

  7. Close!published at 14:25 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Hants 222 & 177-7

Fynn Hudson-Prentice gets into a bit of a tangle trying to push Matt Milnes into the leg side and the ball dribbles back behind him towards the stumps.

It was tracking to hit wood although whether it had enough speed to dislodge bails is questionable. FHP was not about to test the theory and hooks the ball away six inches from danger.

  8. GLAMORGAN BEAT LANCASHIREpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 1 August
    Breaking

    Glamorgan (261 & 348-7 dec) beat Lancs (137 & 318) by 154 runs

Mason Crane bowls James Anderson to finish with nine wickets in the match and that's the game done.

Glamorgan have thumped Lancashire by 154 runs.

Second-placed Glamorgan now hold a huge lead over the sides below them and are odds-on for promotion alongisde Leicestershire.

  9. 200 runs

lead for Essexpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 84-1 v Warks 485

Essex take their lead over 200.

They’ll need at least 100 more you’d think to be safe to declare.

  10. 'Impressive bowling from Milnes'published at 14:15 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 177-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

    It's impressive bowling from Milnes.

He's bowled really well, at a very good pace in this match.

Hudson-Prentice has set his wicket dearly so far, which is all Sussex can hope for.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 1 August

    Fuller c Libby b Allison 26 (Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 282-7)

Quite a tired looking slash from James Fuller which flies to Jake Libby at backward point.

Even if they can get the next three in rapid succession they are going to have o score at well over six an over which would be a huge task.

  12. new ball

New ball takenpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Hants 222 & 175-7

Matt Milnes has the new rock in his hand and you get the feeling the next half hour could be the game.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 1 August

    Rew 27 (Notts 554 v Somerset 438 & 104-4)

Calvin Harrison gets another left-handed in James Rew and things are getting very interesting at Trent Bridge.

He goes to turn to leg and gets an inside edge via pad to short leg.

    Somerset still trail.

  14. new ball

New ball availablepublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Hants 222 & 174-7

Dom Bess is going to give Will Sutherland another over despite the new ball being available. He has been bowling with a bit of venom but surely this is a one over gamble.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 1 August

    Hartley b Kellaway 5 (Lancs 293-9 v Glamorgan)

    Almost there...

Ben Kellaway sends down a beauty to Tom Hartley which spins past the outside edge and into the stumps.

James Anderson is last man in for Lancashire.

  16. Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 265-6

Into the sixth over since lunch, no signs of a breakthrough for Worcs and the body language is starting to clam up for the hosts.

If James Fuller and Felix Organ are still at the crease in half an hour they may have already done enough to take the win off the table.

They are up to 42 runs partnership and the lead is 309.

Worcs need wickets plural... and now.

  17. 'There needs to be more energy'published at 14:01 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 171-7

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

It feels like Yorkshire need to up the tempo out there.

I'm not saying to appeal every decision but there needs to be more energy.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 1 August

    Lammonby b Harrison 38 (Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 100-3)

Strong start to the afternoon for Somerset as they bring the 100 up.

But then Tom Lammonby falls to some good turn from Calvin Harrison that rips from outside the left-hander’s off stump through the gate.

Slightly lazy defence but a decent delivery.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 1 August

    Harris c Carlson b Crane 61 (Lancs 284-8 v Glamorgan)

    That should be that.

Marcus Harris flicks at a full ball from spinner Mason Crane and it loops up to Kiran Carlson at leg slip.

It's an eighth wicket for Crane in the match and Glamorgan's promotion hopes are going to be given a huge boost.

Lancashire's own chances of going up will be all but over.
