  1. Back under way at New Roadpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 235-6

Worcs need wickets and quickly if they are to set themselves a target and Shahzad Khurram is the man charged with kick-starting the charge.

    Felix Organ takes strike.

  2. 'The new ball will be the focus'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 167-7

    David Townsend
    BBC Radio Leeds

Yorkshire will look to take a wicket if they can but the new ball will be the focus of the attack.

They will have been pleased with the four wickets they took in the morning session

  3. Back under way at Scarboroughpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 166-7

Adam Lyth has the ball in hand and Jack Carson is facing as we start what could well be the final session of this match.

  4. 'Yorkshire win looks inevitable'published at 13:31 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorkshire 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 166-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Baring an unlikely miracle Sussex are heading towards back-to-back innings defeats in the County Championship, and despite a good start to the season find themselves anxiously looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone.

Despite solid resistance from Fynn Hudson-Prentice, the damage was done in the first 25 minutes this morning with Ibrahim, Hughes and Simpson all back in the pavilion, and with a new ball available in seven overs after lunch a Yorkshire victory looks inevitable.

Credit Yorkshire who have dominated this match and will move out of the relegation places with a win, and the return fixture at Hove in could have a decisive bearing on who goes down.

The arrival of left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat will be a huge boost for Sussex for the final three games, but they’ll need a currently fragile looking top order to return to form in September.

  5. 'Must not lose game for Essex'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6 dec & 60-1 v Warwickshire 485 - lunch, day four

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

The rate in which runs have been scored so far in this Essex second innings suggests they would take a draw.

Unless they come out and really up the pace this afternoon, it looks unlikely they’ll set Warwickshire a target to chase down, which would be a risky strategy in this must not lose game for Essex.

  6. 'Worcestershire have to give it a go'published at 13:24 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 235-6 - lunch, day four

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Worcestershire have just kept themselves in the game by taking four wickets this morning.

Though whatever they end up chasing will be a very tall order they pretty much have to give it a go if they’re to keep their Championship season alive with an unlikely victory.

Hampshire lead by 279 at lunch; can The Pears restrict them to something below 325?

James Fuller might hold the key - if he bats with the same purpose and aggression as he did in the first innings he could take the game away from the hosts in the early part of the afternoon session.

As things stand it’s just about still a contest!

  7. 'Hosts have a sniff'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 72-2 - lunch, day four

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A morning of wickets at Trent Bridge, Notts losing their last four in adding 33 to their overnight 511-6, and then both of the Somerset openers going early, to give the home side just a sniff of what would be, on this pitch, a distinctly unlikely victory.

A partnership of 40 between Tom Lammonby and James Rew steadied the Somerset ship in the run-up to lunch, Rew in the process becoming the youngest batsman since Graham Hick in 1987 to notch up 3,000 Championship runs.

  8. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Hants 222 & 166-7

Yorkshire will eat pretty well at lunch knowing that three wickets will deliver a much-needed win in what has been a difficult return to Division One.

Sussex still trail by 157 and have just three wickets still in tact and their inability to rein in the more attacking aspects of their play has cost them at times this morning.

Daniel Hughes and John Simpson will look back at dismissals where they misjudged the line but Danny Lamb will kick himself for chasing a wide one from Will Sutherland.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice is going well on 32 and Jack Carson, who survived being dropped by James Wharton at short leg when he had just five, has added another five to his score.

  9. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 235-6

A half decent morning for Worcs who have taken 4-96 but chances of winning this appear to have slipped away in that session.

Yes, they could have a four-wicket burst after lunch but the lead is already up to 279 which is more than enough to be chasing in two sessions.

There are 67 overs left but Worcs would need to score at approaching five an over so the draw looks pretty nailed on.

  10. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 60-1 v Warks 485

Essex in the driving seat at Chelmsford.

They couldn't enforce the follow-on yesterday but still took a 117-run first-innings lead.

Tom Westley and Paul Walter, both unbeaten on 25, have pushed that out to 177 at the break.

  11. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 72-2

Another good session for Notts as they try to keep in touch with Surrey at the top of the table.

They extended their first-innings to 544 for a lead of 106 and have nipped out both openers in the Somerset second innings.

But the visitors have been positive and have taken a good chunk out of that deficit already.

They trail by 34 at lunch.

  12. 'Eight more until the new ball'published at 12:59 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 166-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Eight more until the new ball is available.

I see no reason as to why Yorkshire wouldn't take it immediately.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 1 August

    Green c Carlson b Kellaway 9 (Lancs 270-7 v Glamorgan)

Three to go for the Welsh county.

Chris Green tries to sweep spinner Ben Kellaway but gets a top edge and Kiran Carlson takes the catch from silly leg.

George Balderson, who is hugely capable with the bat, is in at nine for the hosts.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 1 August

    Brown c Roderick b Brookes 4 (Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 222-6)

Gareth Roderick is standing up to Ethan Brookes gentle medium pace and he takes a sharp catch to dismiss Ben Brown.

That may have been an off cutter but with Brown pinned in his crease his foot movement was minimal.

  15. 50 runs

up for Essexpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 51-1 v Warks 485

Tom Westley has taken Ethan Bamber for fours driven through mid-on and then punched through cover as Essex bring up their fifty in the 19th over.

Conventional thinking would be to get through to lunch and the new ball and then see if they can go a bit harder this afternoon.

If they could get 320 ahead, there could be a potentially tricky afternoon ahead for Warwickshire.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 1 August

    Prest c Hose b Brookes 27 (Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 210-5)

If there is a weirder, softer dismissal than this today it will be a surprise.

A nondescript delivery which carries neither pace, threat or visible movement, is chipped tamely to short midwicket where Adam Hose takes the catch.

Tom Prest leans on his bat contemplating his generosity before walking slowly from the middle.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 1 August

    Bailey b Fernando 16 (Lancs 259-6, target 473 v Glamorgan)

    Glamorgan are four wickets away!

Asitha Fernando gets one through Tom Bailey with a wonderful yorker and the off stump flies out the ground.

There are more showers around so Glamorgan will be keen to wrap this up ASAP.

  18. dropped catch

Carson droppedpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 157-7

Jack Carson turns Dom Bess off his pads and James Wharton at short leg gets a hand to it but it doesn't stick.

Given this is the same fielder who took the catch of the season on day one you would have to say that was a drop.

Maybe if it had looped up and gone over his shoulder he might have held it.

  19. 'Straight deliveries will be an issue'published at 12:36 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 157-7

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

There's been quite a few good deliveries that have kept low this morning.

Yorkshire only need to get another one straight and it will prove to be an issue for the batsmen.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 1 August

    Gregory c Clarke b Abbas 17 (Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 34-2)

And now Somerset's other opener, Lewis Gregory, is also gone.

He advances at Mohammad Abbas but gets into a tangle and is beaten by some movement into him.

In the end throwing the bat out with one hand, he gets a thin edge behind.

    Pressure on.
