  1. 'Three expensive overs to start'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 554 v Somerset 438 & 177-4

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It's pretty much been the same as Notts started after lunch with three expensive overs.

Although, wickets quickly followed, they could do with a repeat.

  2. Can Somerset survive?published at 16:03 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 554 v Somerset 438 & 168-4

Back they come at Trent Bridge.

    Somerset’s lead is 62.

They’re not safe yet and probably need another hour of batting to be certain of a draw.

What plans have Notts cooked up over tea?

  3. Tea at New Roadpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 1 August

    Worcs 61-1 (Target: 358) v Hants

Worcs can count themselves unlucky to have lost captain Gareth Roderick but, aside from that, have made a strong enough start to the chase.

They have had 15 overs so far and require a monumental final session 297 runs off 38 overs (minimum) at 7.82 per over.

  4. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 168-4

This game has really come alive after lunch as first Somerset counterattacked but then Notts whipped out four quick wickets to leave the visitors 103-4 and still behind.

But Tom Abell and Tom Banton have gritted out a vital stand to take Somerset into tea in much better shape.

Still work to do in the final session with the lead at 62.

  5. wicket

    Hawkins lbw Keogh 0 (Northants 550-9 v Derbys 377 & 54-5)

Joe Hawkins tries to play around his pad but is hit in front of the wood. The ball bounces up and is caught at short leg but it's lbw.

  6. Essex draw with Warwickshirepublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 96-1 v Warks 485

The weather has won at Chelmsford.

It was unlikely Essex could get far enough to defend anyway.

The hosts huge first innings total set up the game but Warwickshire battled hard to save the follow-on and that essentially made the game safe.

A very healthy draw for Essex but they will still have work to do in the final three rounds to avoid relegation.

  7. 'Yorkshire Day is Yorkshire's day'published at 15:22 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 195 - Yorks win by inns and 128 runs

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

They had to wait a while for those last three, but Yorkshire Day is Yorkshire's day.

A pretty big win for them in many aspects, in terms of runs and the table itself picking up 22 points.

  8. 50 runs

    Notts 554 v Somerset 438 & 159-4

Tom Abell has moved onto 37 and the former skipper is leading the visitors’ resistance.

Tom Banton is there on 16 and the pair have eased Somerset out to a lead of 53.

Notts still very much in the hunt to win here but would like a breakthrough before tea.

YORKSHIRE WIN BY INNS & 128 RUNSpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 1 August

    Crocombe c Duke b Milnes 0 (Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 195)

Matt Milnes wraps up the match getting an inside edge of Henry Crocombe's bat with Harry Duke diving away to his left to take the catch.

Yorks players wheel away in celebration towards the bleachers at Scarborough and well they might on Yorkshire Day – they may have just taken a big step to retaining Division One status next season with three matches to go.

Milnes finishes with 5-31 from 16.4 overs and deservedly takes the applause of the crowd as he holds the ball aloft.

Yet this was a victory built on teamwork throughout with Jack White's 3-25, Adam Lyth's 115, Matthew Revis's unbeaten 152 and that catch from James Wharton in Sussex's first innings.

The 22-point win takes them to sixth in the table and clear of the relegation places albeit with a few results still to come in today.

  10. Play to start at Northantspublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 1 August

    Northants 550-9 dec v Derbyshire 377 & 52-4

Good news if you're a Northamptonshire fan, bad news if you're a Derbyshire supporter.

The rain has cleared away from Wantage Road and they're planning to start at 15:30 BST.

Northants have 40 overs to get the remaining six wickets they need for a chance of victory.

  11. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 96-1 v Warks 485

An early tea at Chelmsford so the evening session could begin at 15:30 BST.

But still plenty of rain around.

Almost certainly now we’ve lost an outside chance of an Essex victory.

    Sandhu c Revis b Milnes 4 (Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 195-9)

And Yorks move to within one wicket of victory as Gurinder Sandhu drives airily and gets an edge which loops to Matthew Revis at point.

    Compton st Handscomb b Ahmed 221 (Kent 406-7 v Leics 471)

Ben Compton dismissedImage source, Rex Features

Ben Compton's mammoth career-best innings comes to an end.

Rehan Ahmed makes the breakthrough as Compton is stumped for 221.

He was at the crease for 508 minutes, 380 balls and struck 20 fours and a six.

The game is heading for a draw, but it's been a monumental knock.

  14. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 143-4

Somerset have steadied the ship but only have a lead of 37.

Mohammad Abbas is back for a second spell with Calvin Harrison still wheeling away with his leggers.

Archie Vaughan and Craig Overton still to come - but then a decent tail with Jack Leach at nine.

Into the final half hour of the session.

  15. 'He was absolutely fuming'published at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 190-8

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

He was absolutely fuming with that dismissal, he ripped his gloves off after that, he's absolutely furious but he did well not to show any dissent.

There's been a lot of decisions where the umpires have kept their fingers in their pockets but not there.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 1 August

    Carson c Lyth b Bess 12 (Yorks 545-9 dec v Hants 222 & 190-8)

Jack Carson is not happy with this, standing his ground to wait for the finger and then clearly disappointed.

He may have a case as that could have brushed his pad instead of glove before it was grabbed at slip but either way he is gone and Yorkshire have a crucial breakthrough.

  17. Career-best for Comptonpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 August

    Kent 397-6 v Leics 471

Kent opener Ben Compton moves to 218 to go past his previous first-class best of 217.

The left-hander has scored more than 6,000 first-class runs at an average above 45.

Numbers not to be sniffed at.

  18. 'Still 50 overs left for Yorkshire'published at 14:53 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 186-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

There's still 50 overs left today, but another over does pass for Yorkshire's bowlers.

I don't think there will be any panic unless it gets down to 10 overs.

Runs don't matter for Sussex too much unless they get a lead but we are a long way off that.

  19. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 1 August

    Gloucs 149-2 v Middlesex 445

Joe Phillips enjoys batting at Cheltenham College.

After two fifties in the game against Lancashire last week, the 21-year-old has brought up another half-century.

He's 60 not out with Ollie Price just starting his innings after Cameron Bancroft was dismissed for 58.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 1 August

Roderick run out 4 (Worcs 4-1 Target: 358)

Gareth Roderick goes for a quick single after pushing the ball into the on side where Felix Organ picks up and throws down the stumps at the non-strikers' end.

Replays would suggest the Worcs skipper was unlucky as his bat looks down behind the crease before the stumps were broken.

Either way a terrible start for the Worcs who could be seeing their hopes disappear.
