    Notts have the breakthrough!

A little bit of bounce from the blonde locks of Dillon Pennington and he draws a thick edge from Josh Davey.

It flies low to second slip where Calvin Harrison gets down and takes a very smart catch.

    Somerset 74 behind.

  2. wicket

  3. Postpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 1 August

    Essex 602-6d & 34-1 v Warks 485

How adventurous do Essex want to be today?

Yorkshire are heading for victory which is going to leave things very tightly bunched in the bottom half of the table.

Eight draw points may be in the front of Essex minds.

    They lead by 151.

    Notts 544 v Somerset 438 & 24-0

Lewis Gregory battingImage source, Rex Features

Josh Davey and Lewis Gregory have got through five overs for Somerset, who need to basically bat all afternoon to save the game.

Gregory, the Somerset skipper, has twice driven Brett Hutton lavishly through cover for four and angled Mohammad Abbas to third man for another boundary.

The sooner the visitors can knock off the deficit, the easier it becomes.

  5. Play starts at Old Traffordpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 1 August

    Lancs 230-5 (target 473) v Glamorgan

The morning rain has moved away from Old Trafford and they're under way.

Marcus Harris and Tom Bailey are in the middle for Lancashire with another 243 runs needed for victory.

Survival is probably the name of the game rather than a chase.

  6. 'A lost cause for Sussex'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 147-7

    Adrian Harms

It wasn't a great shot at all, he knew it when he walked off.

Jack Carson will come in and battle away but it's almost a lost cause now for Sussex.

WICKETpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 1 August

    Lamb c Duke b Sutherland 7 (Yorks 545-9 dec v Hants 222 & 143-7)

The flurry of wickets this morning had given way to a period of calm with Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Danny Lamb taking cue from Yorkshire Day and digging in.

But Lamb has a rush of blood and takes a cross-batted swipe at a wide delivery from Will Sutherland and edges into Harry Duke's gloves behind the stumps.

  8. 'Yorkshire in a good spot'published at 12:02 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 143-6

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Hill is trying to get the ball to swing at the moment.

Hudson-Prentice has cashed in on a few of these deliveries that are over-pitched.

Yorkshire won't be too bothered, they're in a pretty good spot.

  9. Division Two latestpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 1 August

Ben Compton plays a cut shotImage source, Rex Features

Not a huge amount to report in Division Two at the moment with delayed starts in three of the four matches.

The umpires have had a look at Old Trafford where Glamorgan need five more Lancashire wickets for victory... they'll have another inspection in about five minutes.

There is some play between Kent and leaders Leicestershire - the Foxes have removed nightwatchman George Garrett and Ben Dawkins, but Ben Compton is still going strong on 129. Kent are 249-5 and 222 behind.

We're still awaiting news of any start time at Cheltenham College and Northants.

WICKETpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 1 August

A smart delivery from Ethan Bamber gets an early breakthrough in the Essex second innings.

A little bounce from a tight line takes a thin edge from Noah Thain to the wicketkeeper.

WICKETpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 1 August

    Pennington b Ball 7 (Notts 542-9 v Somerset 438)

  15. Notts lead by 101published at 11:34 British Summer Time 1 August

    Notts 539-8 v Somerset 438

A little psychological milestone for Notts as they edge their lead into three figures.

The longer they can keep Somerset out there this morning, the better.

Calvin Harrison has struck three impressive boundaries, including a firm back-foot punch wide of deep midwicket.

  16. wicket

Warwickshire all outpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 1 August

    Hannon-Dalby lbw Westley 3 (Essex 602-6d v Warks 485)

Ollie Hannon-Dalby survived 26 balls to help Ed Barnard through to his ton but he falls to Tom Westley's off spin.

Round the wicket, he slides one into the left-hander, beats the inside edge and traps him plumb lbw.

Essex take a first innings lead of 117.

How quickly can Essex build up the lead for a declaration?

Or can Warwickshire put pressure on with the ball?

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 1 August

    Simpson b White 0 (Yorks 545-9 dec v Sussex 222 & 117-6)

And this is a really big blow to Sussex's hopes... and a boost to Yorks' of wrapping this up with time to spare.

John Simpson has gone to the fifth ball he faces, offering no stroke and hearing Jack White's delivery clatter his off stump.

There's a slight drop of rain which may bring the slightest hope.

That was just what Worcs need and it is a sixth wicket in the match for Tom Taylor.
