    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 100-6 (close, day three)

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham

Not a great day for Lancashire. We've all been in this situation before with our respective sides, having good days, having bad days.

Notts have had a good day and as far as Lancashire are concerned, not one their greatest days.

It's been all about Haseeb Hameed, who was urged by his team-mates to go off first as he got a generous round of applause.

  4. Stumps at The Ovalpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 31-0 v Warwickshire - target 89

Surrey were 349-8 and just six ahead at one point this morning.

Then Jamie Smith and Sean Abbott took the game away from Warwickshire with a stand of 115 on their way to 155 and 50 not out respectively.

That stand was special, but Kemar Roach's sensational 6-46 this afternoon has to go into the conversation for the most devastating spell of swing bowling at this grand old ground.

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley will be back in the morning to try to find the 58 runs they require for a big win to return to the top of Division One.

    Surrey 20-0 v Warwickshire - target 89

Think Surrey have decided to take their time.

Warwickshire almost seem like they want to be put out of their misery.

It was certainly a cruel blow to lose Craig Miles, who had performed to such a high level. If he was able to play this morning, the game might have looked very different by now.

  6. 'Leaning rightfully applauded'published at 18:46 British Summer Time 12 May

    Close: Kent 362-8 v Worcestershire 618-7d

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

What an effort that is particularly from Jack Leaning, he'll get the plaudits from this day's play and he'll be rightfully applauded off by Worcestershire and the remaining supporters who have seen a very, very fine innings.

He comes off the field perhaps helping his side to safety, or a long way towards it if that's the case.

Worcestershire have bowled really well and have got as much as possible out of this pitch.

  7. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 12 May

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 100-6

Lancashire see out Olly Stone's final over of the day - only just, though.

But Nottinghamshire have taken complete control of a game that, at the start of day three, was a contest in the balance.

Haseeb Hameed's career-best 247 not out took Notts to 503 all out, a lead of 172, before Dillon Pennington spearheaded an excellent performance with the ball for the hosts in the final session.

Lancashire will need another 72 runs just to make sure Notts bat again at Trent Bridge.

    Surrey 17-0 v Warwickshire - target 89

Rory Burns has a couple of boundaries in his 13 and Surrey are strolling towards a thumping win, with the depleted Warwickshire attack looking pretty subdued in the field, it must be said.

In theory three overs remain tonight. Surrey are still 72 shy of their target.

  9. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 362-8 v Worcestershire 618-7d

Jack Leaning has put in a superhuman effort to keep Kent in this game.

He has battled for 125 overs across the past two days and is unbeaten on 152 at stumps.

Quite whether he's fit to resume in the morning is another matter.

Kent still trail by 256 runs and the problem for Worcestershire that even if they take two wickets and enforce the follow-on, they will need to take another 10 in fewer than 96 overs tomorrow, with 129 overs already in their legs and arms.

  10. 'Vast amount at stake for both sides'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 12 May

Northants 144-2 v Glos - target 558 (close, day three)

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

A vast amount at stake for both sides.

Northamptonshire have been pretty comprehensively outgunned in this match so far but if they could somehow get through to the close tomorrow then the difference between three points and 11 points is obviously substantial.

I'm sure they will be trying very hard, especially after that inexplicable first-innings batting performance that I don't think any of us saw coming, particularly in that middle session, to carry on the work that they've basically started here.

We said if they could go in one, at the worst two wickets down, they'll still feel that they've got a chance. I think that is the case.

Obviously Luke Procter (45 not out) is the crucial wicket for Northamptonshire.

  11. 'Agar will be annoyed with himself'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 360-8 v Worcestershire 618-7d

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Kashif Ali gets his first wicket and he yorked him.

He's basically thrown it up there into the blockhole and whether Wes Agar was thinking I'll get a single and try to protect Jack Leaning - he's been bowled middle stump.

Agar will be pretty annoyed with himself.

  12. 'Superb innings from Leaning'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 360-8 v Worcestershire 618-7d

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

It's more than an eight-hour stay at the crease for Jack Leaning.

It's been a superb innings, it's been massive for Kent as well, they needed someone to occupy the crease for long periods of time and he's done that.

If Kent save this game then they'll owe a huge, huge debt to him.

  13. Postpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 360-8 v Worcestershire 618-7d

Jack Leaning has finished this marathon day pretty much one handed.

He was struck on the left arm and had some treatment earlier but he is clearly in discomfort as he gets off strike in the final over and is hanging it limply by his side.

WICKET: Agar b Kashif Ali 6published at 18:29 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 359-8 v Worcestershire 618-7d

Kashif Ali comes on to bowl some leg-breaks in the lengthening shadows. Wes Agar trying to block them out, but he's been yorked as Kashif Ali flights one into the block hole and thumps middle stump.

One over to come. Nathan Gilchrist is the new batter.

  15. 150 runs

150 for Jack Leaningpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 358-7 v Worcestershire 618-7d

When they needed him most, Jack Leaning has turned up for Kent.

A single from his 346th delivery takes him to his 150. There have been 13 fours in this marathon innings.

  16. Postpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 0-0 v Warwickshire - target 89

Dom Sibley and Rory Burns stride out to begin the modest chase. That suggests that perhaps they are happy to finish the work tomorrow morning if needs be.

  17. Leaning longevity passes new milestonepublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 357-7 v Worcestershire 618-7d

Jack Leaning has now been at the crease for more than 120 overs.

In human time that is eight hours and 15 minutes. He has faced 343 balls.

This is a very special knock indeed.

A reminder that he had scored only 108 runs across his first eight innings of the season.

    He is 149*.

  18. Postpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 12 May

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 80-6

Five overs remaining on day three at Trent Bridge. Time for Notts to take a seventh wicket? Olly Stone back in the attack...

  19. wicket

WICKET: Hannon-Dalby lbw b Worrall 1 - Warwickshire all outpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 464 v Warwickshire 343 & 209

Craig Miles will not bat. Nine down and all out as Oliver Hannon-Dalby is pinned by Dan Worrall.

Kemar Roach steals the show, of course, with 6-46, his best Surrey figures.

Surrey need 89 to win - they might even have time tonight. They have eight overs plus the option of an extra half hour.

  20. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 12 May

    Northants 144-2 v Glos - target 558

Northants end day three needing 414 more runs to beat Gloucestershire in Division Two, although that seems an unlikely prospect.

Their primary target, therefore, will be to bat out the final day and they will start day four with eight wickets in hand.

Captain Luke Procter will resume on 45 not out tomorrow morning.
