Daniel Bell-Drummond and Jack Leaning have added 100 runs for this third wicket from 179 balls.

They will want further milestones in the sunshine on this placid track, that's for certain.

    The deficit is still 500.

  5. No Miles for Warwickshirepublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 327-6 v Warwickshire 343

Big blow for Warwickshire before a ball has even been bowled today.

Craig Miles who has 5-43 so far for Warwickshire is not on the field, and he might not be at all today...

Miles appeared to injure his ankle as he celebrated the sensational slip catch by Rob Yates which completed his five-fer and ousted nightwatcher Kemar Roach with the final ball of the penultimate over of play last night.

A Lancashire old boy ensured that Nottinghamshire still have hope of a first-innings lead at Trent Bridge.

Haseeb Hameed will resume on the third morning on 137 not out, and with Notts 52 runs behind the visitors' first-innings score of 331.

Only one other Notts batter has passed 30 in their first innings, making opener Hameed's knock even more vital for his side.

Kent return to the middle at Canterbury this morning more than 500 runs in arrears and facing the unenviable prospect of batting out two full days to save the game.

Jason Holder and Matthew Waite both hit unbeaten centuries on day two as Worcestershire built a commanding lead.

Joe Leach then ousted Ben Compton and Zak Crawley to reduce Kent to 15-2, before the hosts rallied to finish on 111-2 at stumps, a deficit of 507.

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond continued his run of half-centuries in every game this season as he reached 54 not out before the close, while Jack Leaning is 43 not out.

Earlier, Holder was unbeaten on 123 while Waite made 100 before the visitors declared on 618-7 in their first innings, with Adam Hose contributing 90 after opener Gareth Roderick made 117.

  9. Batters on top at Hampshirepublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 12 May

    Hampshire 503 v Durham 146-3

Liam Dawson took what could prove to be a crucial wicket for Hampshire at the end of day two at Utilita Bowl, removing Durham opener Alex Lees for 71 to leave the visitors 146-3 in reply to Hampshire's 503 all out.

Batters have been the more dominant species in this match, but Durham still need another 200-odd runs on day three to make sure they avoid the follow-on.

  10. Smith on the brink as Surrey seek to take controlpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 327-6 v Warwickshire 343

Jamie Smith returns to the middle for Surrey this morning 98 not out after his 139-run fourth-wicket stand with Ben Foakes propelled the hosts into a strong position at the halfway stage against Warwickshire.

But it could have been better for the double defending champions, with Craig Miles taking three wickets in three overs with the second new ball to complete a five-wicket haul and peg Surrey back to 327-6 at the close in reply to Warwickshire’s 343.

Miles bowled Foakes for 52 and had Dan Lawrence lbw for three before, three balls later, having nightwatcher Kemar Roach caught by Rob Yates in the slips.

Smith has rattled two sixes and 14 fours thus far and the hosts will still have an eye on maximum batting bonus points and a healthy first-innings lead with Jordan Clark and Sean Abbott waiting in the wings.

  12. Welcome to moving day...published at 10:46 British Summer Time 12 May

The third day is commonly known as moving day in golf, and it feels appropriate for this round of the County Championship too.

After a couple of glorious days of sunshine and uninterrupted play, there is the prospect of some weather about, particularly on the final day, and teams will be seeking to put themselves into position to wrap up victories before any possible interventions from Mother Nature.

After spending 160 overs in the hot dirt, Kent face the prospect of batting out the remainder of the game to avoid defeat by Worcestershire, while Durham have a similar but slightly less daunting task on their hands at Hampshire.

Surrey will be looking to press the accelerator and build a lead over Warwickshire which is big enough to help ensure they take over at the top of the table, while it is intriguingly-poised at Trent Bridge where Notts and Lancashire are trading blows with neither side seizing control just yet.

In the quest for promotion from Division Two, both Gloucestershire and Glamorgan are in charge against Northants and Sussex respectively as they look to register their first wins of the season - in the case of the former, their first since 2022.

Brew and a biscuit at the ready? Good. Welcome to our coverage...
