    Division Two latest

There was a time this morning when Sussex looked in danger of an innings defeat by Glamorgan, but sixth-wicket pair Fynn Hudson-Prentice and James Coles have added 112 to give the visitors a slender lead of 11 in Cardiff.

At the County Ground in Northampton, Gloucestershire are starting to accelerate towards a probable declaration. Captain Graeme van Buuren has made 26 at almost a run a ball and they are 260-4, leading Northants by 498.

    Surrey 464 v Warwickshire 343 & 54-1

Rob Yates survives another scare, skewing this one completely in the opposite direction than he intended, trying to tuck into the leg side but instead lofting the ball into no-man's land just over the shoulder of Rory Burns running backwards at mid-off.

Could have easily been the end of him.

Will Rhodes pushes down the ground for four from the very next ball to bring up the Warwickshire 50. The deficit is now 67.

  3. Durham's Bedingham reaches centurypublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 12 May

    Hampshire 503 v Durham 268-5

Durham's David Bedingham has brought up his second County Championship century of the season with a superb cut shot to the boundary.

He is doing a great job in batting his side to a position of safety against Hampshire - 354 is the target to avoid the follow-on, remember.

Only three batters have scored more runs than Bedingham in Division One this season.

  4. 50 runs

50 partnership for Kentpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 185-4 v Worcestershire 618-7d

Jack Leaning sets off for a quick single, the ball is thrown to the keeper's end where Harry Finch has just made his ground when Gareth Roderick obliterates the stumps, taking all three out of the ground.

Slightly nervy way to bring up the 50 partnership from 172 deliveries. Like the stumps, rebuilding was required in this innings, and these two are doing the job, for now.

At Trent Bridge, Haseeb Hameed has added only five runs to his total since lunch.

Hameed, whose most recent England Test appearance came during the 2021-22 Ashes series in Australia, is now 188 not out and inching closer to that maiden double ton.

  6. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 464 v Warwickshire 343 & 31-1

Dan Worrall returns over the wicket to Rob Yates, who has played a couple of beautiful shots already to move to 20.

We all chuckled when Worrall launched one to second slip but now I'm rendered agog. This one is seemingly on a string, starting off at an angle towards the slips but then hooping back in, flying over middle stump and having to be taken expertly flying to his right by Ben Foakes.

    Almost cut Yates in half.

As you would expect, Surrey have come out probing straight away.

They've got their first wicket and now they'll look for a second.

That lead is under the 100 mark now.

It does feel like an awful lot has happened since we arrived here this morning, when Jamie Smith was yet to score his hundred and Warwickshire were right in it.

    Northants 171 v Glos 409 & 227-4

Cameron Bancroft made a half-century in the first innings for Gloucestershire against Northants and the Australian has reached three figures second time around, getting there with a cut through the covers for four.

It's his 27th ton in first-class cricket, his first of the season, and it's helped his side stretch their lead to 465.

  10. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 464 v Warwickshire 343 & 23-1

Ollie Pope is a multi-talented man, now maybe we can add wicketkeeping to the list too.

Dan Worrall bends his back to launch one in at left-hander Rob Yates but the ball flies so wide that Pope, stood at SECOND slip, has to make a fine catch down low to his right. No gloves either.

Yates and Will Rhodes have brought the deficit back to double figures.

  11. 'Stone has bowled well, now he's batting well'published at 13:57 British Summer Time 12 May

    Notts 413-7 v Lancashire 331

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham

Suddenly it will start to get a little real and a little interesting for Olly Stone. He's not looked in any trouble.

I guess there's a bit of a chance that much of his future cricket might be played at a higher level than this, so you wonder how many opportunities [he will have] for Notts this year.

I know it's all up in the air who is going to play for England this year and who isn't, but he's bowled well and now he's batting well.

Stone ducks under a bouncer, leaves his bat up like a periscope, the ball flicks off it and flies over the wicketkeeper for four. Stone up to 81 not out...

WICKET: Davies lbw b Roach 3published at 13:51 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 464 v Warwickshire 343 & 18-1

    Breakthrough for Surrey.

Rob Yates survived a big appeal from Dan Worrall in the last over but Kemar Roach gets the decision with the first ball of this, getting Alex Davies to play inside and rapping the pads.

Will Rhodes is the new man in. The deficit is 103.

  13. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 12 May

    Notts 405-7 v Lancashire 331

Big lbw shout against Haseeb Hameed - not out is the decision from the umpire.

Seemed to just be going down leg from Will Williams.

  14. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 12 May

    Hampshire 503 v Durham 231-5

Liam Dawson has been the wicket-taker-in-chief for Hampshire against Durham, claiming four of the five first-innings wickets to fall.

No surprise, then, that there are four close fielders around the bat for his first over after the interval, as the hosts look for further breakthroughs.

  15. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 12 May

    Kent 180-4 v Worcestershire 618-7d

Big shout from Ben Gibbon for lbw against Harry Finch but the keeper-batter survives.

Possibly hit him outside the line.

Skipper Brett D'Oliveira's back on with his leg-spin at the other end. Matt Parkinson bowled nearly 45 overs for Kent. How many will he give himself?

  16. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 12 May

    Notts 396-7 v Lancashire 331

All eyes will be on Nottinghamshire captain Haseeb Hameed as he approaches a maiden double century in his first-class career.

    Hameed is 184 not out.

Olly Stone, who has 69, might be eyeing up a first hundred too...

  17. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 12 May

    Surrey 464 v Warwickshire 343 & 15-0

Kemar Roach takes the opening over after lunch. I'd be surprised if Dan Lawrence stays on the other end. His over before the interval should be the last we see from him for a good while.

Rob Yates crunches the ball to the fence from the second delivery, then Roach beats the bat two balls later. Yates cuts away a loose one for another boundary then plays and misses again.

Almost identical to the start to the first innings, this. Hugely aggressive from the visitors.

Let's get going again after lunch then, shall we?
