Tony de Zorzi is getting some sympathetic applause from the crowd but he’s taking an age to get around the boundary edge to the dressing room.

England's 100 is up after nine from Keshav Maharaj's over.

Tony de Zorzi is still hobbling around the boundary.

A really chilled subdued celebration from Jamie Smith for his half-century. He knows the job is not done yet.

Thumped in front of square on the off side by Jamie Smith... away for four to take him to his second ODI fifty.

He's batted very nicely so far, 10 boundaries to help him to the half-century from 46 balls.

Bad news for South Africa, though, with Tony de Zorzi - the fielder diving to try and cut the ball off in the deep - looking in real trouble. He isn't going to be able to continue and has to limp off.

A great shot from Jos Buttler. His instincts took over in that moment and he knew he was going to bang it down the pitch.

Where did that come from? Jos Buttler didn't even watch that, he knew it was six.

'His instincts take over' - Buttler hits massive six over long on

    That's come from nowhere!

Jos Buttler was on one from seven balls, struggling for timing as he tried to play himself in.

Then Wiaan Mulder put the ball in his arc and launches it high over long-on for the first six of the match!

Jos Buttler is such a good batter to watch when he gets going. He has so much time here to really get himself into the game.

  9. Eng 85-3published at 15 overs

Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, the number one ranked bowler in ODIs, is into the attack.

Jamie Smith, who will know he has to go big now after his part in the captain's run out, is joined at the crease by Jos Buttler.

Three singles from the over. A hint of turn but nothing major for Maharaj.

It was such a good throw from Tristan Stubbs in the field. Jamie Smith was not interested at all, he was happy with the one.

Brook run out by Stubbs after mix-up with Smith

Gone. Out by a distance despite the dive.

Jamie Smith punches the ball through the covers and Harry Brook sprints, looking for two.

However, Smith has other ideas and settles for a single, much to the dismay of Brook as he finds himself stranded halfway down the track.

Tristan Stubbs' throw from the deep is a good one and Ryan Rickelton takes off the bails with Brook, sprawled on the ground, six inches short of his ground.

    Costly miscommunication for England.

There is not much leaping about from the South Africa players. It does look out from the angle we could see.

    Trouble.

Harry Brook is in trouble here and a mix up with Jamie Smith.

The England captain was halfway back for a second that Smith never intended to take.

Did he get back in time? Doesn't look good for England...

Jamie Smith has not really timed that at all. There was just enough to go over mid-on for four with the toe of his bat.

A good partnership between Smith and Brook building here.

Muscled over mid-on by Jamie Smith.

The England opener decides he has to try and force the issue and chooses to take on a back of a length ball from Wiaan Mulder.

It's not out of the middle of the bat but it clears the diminutive Temba Bavuma at mid-on and bounces away for four.

Freebie on the pads later in the over and whipped fine by Smith. Four more.

  16. Eng 73-2published at 13 overs

Another tidy over. Four singles and a leg bye from it.

With more fielders now allowed out of the ring, boundaries are harder to come by for England on this pitch.

One thing that did happen in the last Hundred match here is the pitch got significantly better in the late evening. The New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy said afterwards the pitch was a bit "stoppy” in the daytime and “kissed on” under lights.

We have seen a bit of that stoppy pace in amongst the boundaries to full and wider balls so far here.

With the width on offer, Jamie Smith goes for the full flourish of the cover drive. The fielder just watched it race away, didn't even attempt to cut that off.

  19. Eng 66-2published at 11 overs

    Smith 34, Brook 10

Don't miss your length on this pitch.

Four balls on a length or a touch shorter from Corbin Bosch and Harry Brook struggles.

However, either side of those four, Bosch is too full. Brook whips the first of those deliveries through mid-wicket for four before Jamie Smith thrashes the last to the cover boundary.
