    Somerset 95-1 - target 393

Lancashire very close to a breakthrough - again.

Anderson Phillip raps Archie Vaughan on the pads with one which keeps shin-height low. The umpire says 'not out'.

Phillip tries a short one and Vaughan has all the time in the world to pivot and pull it for four. His dad Michael would have been happy with that one.

  2. Five wickets for Chahalpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 19 September

    Northants 383 v Leics 203 & 303-9 (Currie c McManus b Chahal 120)

Scott Currie's superb maiden hundred is ended by a wicked leg spinner from Yuzvendra Chahal.

It pitches outside leg then rips across the right-hander, taking a feather edge to the keeper.

Superb delivery and breaks a stand of 110 that has seriously held up Northants' victory push.

    Leicestershire lead by 123.

Sam Curran takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Chemar Holder only lasts four balls before he tries to leave a Sam Curran inswinger and loses his off stump.

Durham all done for only 177.

Curran finishes with 4-23 and Dan Worrall 4-34.

Colin Ackermann unbeaten on 40, after 78 not out in the first innings, has been the only man to get in Surrey's way this week.

They'll take tea and then Surrey will have just 25 to win.

    Northants 383 v Leics 203 & 295-8

What a fine effort this is from Leicestershire.

About to be rolled over at 92-7, a hundred stand for the eighth wicket precedes another century partnership for the ninth!

    Scott Currie career-best 117. Sam Wood career-best 43.

    Foxes lead by 115.

  5. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 87-1 - target 393

Luke Wells has a short leg in place.

It's a tidy enough over, costing four runs, but no immediate sign of assistance from the pitch.

  6. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 83-1 - target 393

A flashing square cut from Archie Vaughan brings him another boundary.

Lancashire are going to see if spin will produce a breakthrough - Luke Wells to bowl the next one.

  7. wicket

WICKET: Minto c Foakes b Lawes 7published at 14:46 British Summer Time 19 September

    Surrey 415 v Durham 262 & 176-9

    And there it is!

James Minto drives very pleasantly for four through extra-cover.

But then Tom Lawes drops his length slightly and draws a thin edge through to Ben Foakes.

  8. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 19 September

    Surrey 415 v Durham 262 & 169-8

James Minto, on debut, has got through 21 balls so far but is living a charmed life.

Beaten several time already, Sam Curran goes past his outside edge twice more in two balls to end his 13th over and looks heavenward in frustration.

    It'll come soon for Surrey.

  9. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 78-1 - target 393

    That looked very, very close.

George Balderson is convinced he has Archie Vaughan leg before but the umpire gives the batsman the benefit of the doubt.

Vaughan clips the next one for four and is 28 not out.

  10. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 19 September

    Northants 383 v Leics 203 & 284-8

Sam Wood, a 20-year-od playing just his second match, is enjoying himself.

Having sweely lifted Yuzvendra Chahal over long-off for six, he has another dip at the legger and whacks him back over his lead.

He then drives Ben Sanderson through cover for four and Leicestershire now have a three-figure lead.

If they can get it up to 150 they may have a squeak in the fourth innings.

  11. HAMPSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 204published at 14:40 British Summer Time 19 September

    Hampshire 462 & 204 v Worcs 273 – Hampshire lead by 393

A bizarre way to end as Felix Organ and Muhammad Abbas get into a mix-up and the latter is run out at the non-striker's end.

They had refused a few runs before that when they could have gone, and then ran when they shouldn't have.

Anyway, the result is that Hampshire don't quite get to a lead of 400 but they're not far off it.

Worcestershire will have about 11 overs to negotiate before tea and have been set 394 to win.

  12. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 73-1 - target 393

If the news has filtered through from Canterbury, Lancashire now know that they have to win this game to retain an outside chance of avoiding relegation next week.

Another tidy over from Will Williams ticks by with two singles from it.

  13. wicket

WICKET: Ingram c Wharton b Coad 15published at 14:36 British Summer Time 19 September

    Glam 239 & 20-2 v Yorks 361 & 273

And that is the prized wicket of Colin Ingram, who has chipped to midwicket where James Wharton takes the catch.

  14. wicket

WICKET Abbott b Virdi 20published at 14:32 British Summer Time 19 September

    Hampshire 462 & 204-9 v Worcs 273

    Amar VirdiImage source, Rex Features

Kyle Abbott goes for another big swing but this time he completely misses the ball and is clean bowled by Amar Virdi.

That's nine for the match for the Pears bowler - can he get the last Hampshire man for a 10 wicket haul?

  15. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 68-1 - target 393

Another streaky one by Tom Lammonby who edges Will Williams past second slip for four.

Lammonby clips through mid-wicket, a more authoritative shot, and it brings him another boundary as George Balderson's dive on the boundary edge fails to prevent it reaching the rope.

He is 39 not out - and has gone past 900 Championship runs in 2024 in this innings - and Archie Vaughan has 21.

  16. 200 up for Hampshirepublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 19 September

    Hampshire 462 & 201-8 v Worcs 273

Ooh Felix Organ gets away with it on a couple of occasions there but just managing to avoid the fielders with his lofted shots both times.

Kyle Abbott then sends a fuller pitched Joe Leach ball straight back down the ground for four which brings up 200 for Hampshire.

    Their lead is now 390.

  17. KENT RELEGATEDpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 19 September
    Breaking

    Kent 225 & 230 v Notts 433 & 28-0 - Notts win by 10 wickets

Canterbury will host Division Two cricket next season after Notts complete an emphatic 10-wicket win, Ben Slater bringing the victory with a hooked six.

Kent had started the day with some hope despite following on with all second innings wickets in tact.

But a relentless drive by Notts has taken them to the win and the brink of safety themselves.

Kent are condemned to the second tier for the first time since 2018.

After winning just one match and only nine batting points all season they can have few complaints.

  18. wicket

WICKET: de Leede lbw b SM Curran 25published at 14:26 British Summer Time 19 September

    Surrey 415 v Durham 262 & 159-8

    Sam Curran with the breakthrough!

A full inswinger beats Bas de Leede's inside edge and his bang in front lbw.

Just the bowler's to knock over now.

But Colin Ackermann is there on 33.

  19. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 60-1 - target 393

Nice shot by Tom Lammonby, perhaps deserving of more than a single, but Josh Bohannon intercepts the ball with a diving stop at mid-on. Another 333 needed by Somerset.

  20. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 19 September

    Somerset 57-1 - target 393

Somerset fans won't thank us for saying this but you feel a wicket may be coming at Old Trafford.

George Balderson finds the edge of Tom Lammonby's bat but it doesn't quite carry to Harry Singh at third slip.

Lancashire getting a lot more movement than the visitors did earlier in the day.
