    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 89-6

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

I think Kyle Verreynne got a tough one there but the finger went up from Nigel Llong.

This is fascinating at the moment.

  2. wicket

Yorkshire all outpublished at 16:12 BST 16 September

    White c Haines b Carson 5 (Sussex v Yorks 194)

Jack White has a swish at a ball from Jack Carson, there's a little bit of turn and Tom Haines takes a smart catch at first slip.

Advantage Sussex in this match-up between two teams still caught up in the relegation scrap.

  3. Postpublished at 16:11 BST 16 September

    Leics 320-5 v Kent

A few lessons being learned out there by the Kent youngsters.

Oliver Curtiss gives Ben Cox far too much width and is cut powerfully for four, who is now 22 not out.

  4. wicket

    Higgins c Jones b Aspinwall 0 (Lancs v Middx 66-4)

And that is two in two and the set up for a hat-trick for Tom Aspinwall.

Ryan Higgins is undone by a perfect opening delivery to a new batsman. Good length, slight bit of movement away and a nick to Michael Jones at first slip.

  5. wicket

    Verreynne c Foakes b Worrall 18 (Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 89-6)

    Another edge, another catch...

Kyle Verreynne looks, let's say disappointed to be given out caught behind off Dan Worrall.

It doesn't matter what he thinks, he's on his way.

    Notts lead by 147 runs.

    Liam Patterson-White is in.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:05 BST 16 September

    Critchley c Davies b Booth 47 (Warwicks v Essex 209-4)

    This one does stick.

Michael Booth has had Charlie Allison dropped in the slips but Alex Davies holds onto the edge from Matt Critchley to give the Bears bowler some reward.

Michael Pepper is in for Essex.

  8. Postpublished at 16:04 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 88-5

Off we go at The Oval again.

We have 32 overs remaining in the day - what more drama can they offer?

  9. 200 runs

200 up for Essexpublished at 16:03 BST 16 September

    Warwicks v Essex 200-3

Charlie Allison is grassed in the slips - three have gone down for Warwickshire now.

  10. Latest from Bristolpublished at 16:02 BST 16 September

    Two in two for Gloucestershire.

Kent give Oliver Curtiss his first bowl in Championship cricket and he is twice driven to extra cover for four by Shan Masood.

Ben Cox then pulls Ekansh Singh to the square leg boundary as Leicestershire secure their second batting point by reaching 300.

Thompson lbw Carson 36 (Sussex v Yorks 179-9)

County Ground, HoveImage source, Adrian Harms/BBC Sussex

A portent of what may be to come tomorrow?

The lights are on at Hove as Yorkshire resume after tea and Jordan Thompson falls without adding to his score as he plays round a floated delivery from spinner Jack Carson and is bowled.

All three bowling points in the bag for Sussex.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Charlie Allisonpublished at 15:57 BST 16 September

    Warwicks v Essex 188-3

It was a tricky start to the season for Essex youngster Charlie Allison but that was when he was asked to open the batting in the absence of Dean Elgar.

Since dropping down the order he's looked very much the part.

This is Aliison's fourth first-class 50 and in his previous three he's converted it to a century.

  14. Back under way at Tauntonpublished at 15:57 BST 16 September

    Somerset 209-5 v Hants

Into the final session of a match which would be well poised had it not been for the day one washout.

Kasey Aldridge and Tom Abell are at the crease for the hosts and Kyle Abbott and now Washington Sundar with the ball.

  15. 'Fascinatingly poised this game'published at 15:52 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 88-5 - tea

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

I'm not entirely sure who would claim to have the upper hand in that session. The first portion of it will certainly belong to Nottinghamshire as they quickly tore through the Surrey order but they have themselves lost five key wickets.

Surrey can claim the second half of the afternoon session and have roared back in to this game.

Who's situation would I rather be in? I really don't know.

  16. Tea at Derbypublished at 15:51 BST 16 September

    Derbyshire v Glamorgan 176-6

They are running a little behind the other games at derby, owing to a half-hour delay at the start of play.

Glamorgan have added 96 to their lunch score but lost three wickets in the process and the innings has been held together by Kiran Carlson, who is unbeaten on 88 from 166 balls.

He has put on 77 with Timm van der Gugten (21*) since they came together following the dismissal of Billy Root and Chris Cooke in successive Anuj Dal overs.

  17. Allison batting 'with some style'published at 15:48 BST 16 September

    Warwickshire v Essex 180-3 - tea

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Essex moved closer to the batting points that might secure their first division status with a well-made partnership, so far worth 69, between Charlie Allison and Matt Critchley.

Allison has batted with some style to reach 46, unafraid to occasionally leave his ground to make the seamers adjust their length, while Critchley looked in the same good touch that earned him a hundred against Durham last week.

Warwickshire had shaken Essex with a spell of more accurate bowling after lunch, that yielded two wickets and might have brought more. Dean Elgar survived a chance off the luckless Oliver Hannon-Dalby – dropped by Rob Yates stretching to his left at second slip – but the same fielder made amends in the next over, grabbing a hard edge induced by Nathan Gilchrist.

Tom Westley was unruffled but not fluent, and had come to a halt on 25 before driving over a full inswinger from Ethan Bamber that relocated his off-stump.

That seemed to offer an opening for the Bears, but the seamers plugged away without any further encouragement. The spinners appeared for the last few overs of the session, but one ball from Rob Yates turned sharply enough to perhaps earn him another shift after tea.

Surrey players congratulate Matt Fisher on another wicketImage source, Rex

What a session, what a day.

We've seen 14 wickets go down today.

Matt Fisher has taken nine in the game for Surrey and Notts lead by 146 runs.

The ball is seaming and swinging, making it so difficult for the batsmen.

I think that just about covers it.

  19. Tea at Bristolpublished at 15:40 BST 16 September

    Gloucestershire v Northamptonshire 194-6

Almost an exact replica of the morning session with Northants adding 94 to their score for the loss of three wickets.

Gloucestershire were especially glad to see the back of Saif Zaib, who took his runs aggregate for the season to 1,268 but was caught behind off Zaman Akhter for 76.

Matt Taylor, though, has been the home side's most successful bowler with 3-48 from 14 overs so far.

  20. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 15:40 BST 16 September

    Durham v Worcs 202-4

Another session shaded by Worcs who will be more than happy with their tea time position with Gareth Roderick and Brett D'Oliveira both unbeaten on 34 and with the partnership up to 63.

Durham will feel they have had little reward for some good bowling, particularly Matthew Potts who beat the bat several times without finding the stumps or the edge.
