  1. 'Every single run having to be earned'published at 15:37 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 78-5

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

If that first innings' lead of 58 would have been offered at the start of the game, Notts would have bitten your hand off.

Now, every run is having to be earned here.

  2. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:36 BST 16 September

    Somerset 208-5 v Hants

Kasey Aldridge might have got away with one just before the break, certainly judged on the reactions of wicketkeeper Ben Brown and Nick Gubbins.

The Somerset man's tentative prod off the back foot sees the pair go up in unison... and loudly while Aldridge looked on but the finger did not go up and he remain 55 not out at tea alongside Tom Abell who is on 63.

It was hard to tell from the replays but based on the reaction of the close fielders, he might have edged it.

  3. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:36 BST 16 September

    Sussex v Yorkshire 175-8

Very much Sussex's session with six Yorkshire batters 'back in the hutch'.

Jaydev Unadkat (3-36) and Ollie Robinson (1-28) have been high class since the start of the game and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (3-33) has provided excellent support.

The Tykes were 115-7 before Mayank Agarwal and Jordan Thompson added 52. Thompson is still there on 36 not out but he only has the tail to bat with now as he looks to boost this total.

  4. Postpublished at 15:35 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 78-5

Surrey have put out boundary riders either side of the wicket now - they know just how valuable each and every run is.

Tom Curran replaces the expensive Tom Lawes.

    Notts lead by 136 runs.

  5. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:33 BST 16 September

    Warwicks v Essex 180-3

Charlie Allison and Matt Critchley have steered Essex into a good position with an unbroken 69-run stand.

Allison was dropped on six and has moved to 46 not out with Critchley on 33.

Not enough happening for the bowlers.

  6. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 15:33 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 288-5 v Kent

Excellent timing by Ben Cox brings him a boundary off Corey Flintoff in the final over before tea at Grace Road.

Leicestershire added 137 during the afternoon, but lost Rishi Patel, Lewis Hill and Stevie Eskinazi in the process.

Patel made 114 and Hill 54 and both may feel disappointed at the manner of their dismissals. Kent's young attack have stuck to their task, with Joey Evison (2-60) the most successful so far.

  7. Division Two updatepublished at 15:28 BST 16 September

Kiran Carlson and Timm van der Gugten are still together for Glamorgan at Derby - the visitors are 169-6 in the 56th over, with Carlson now on 84 not out.

Northamptonshire are 193-6 in the 58th against Gloucestershire - Richard Keogh and Aadi Sharma are now together following Saif Zaib's dismissal for 76.

  8. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:27 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 69-5

Tom Lawes drops short, Kyle Verreynne swings him away for six.

The second maximum of the game.

The South African and Lyndon James have added 16 runs so far - it might not sound much but in the context of the game it's sizeable.

    Notts lead by 127 runs.

  9. 'It's like a highlights package'published at 15:24 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 59-5

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

This is literally fast forward at the moment, it's like a highlights package.

There's nothing wrong with the pitch, there's just a bit there for the bowlers and they're all using it very, very well.

One partnership with the batters will win this game for either side but it's a great response from the Surrey bowlers after what the Nottinghamshire bowlers did to them this morning.

We've seen some high-quality bowling throughout the game.

  10. 50 runs

50 for Aldridgepublished at 15:24 BST 16 September

    Somerset 200-5 v Hants

Kasey Aldridge brings up his half century turning Felix Organ behind squad for a seventh first class 50.

It has been a confident knock and has included one six and eight fours.

His partnership with Tom Abell is up to 101 and the pair are taking the initiative away from Hants and back into the home dressing room.

The partnership is broken. Mayank Agarwal pushes hard at a ball from Jayden Unadkat outside off stump and James Coles takes a sharp chance down by his right knee.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:23 BST 16 September

Eskinazi lbw Evison 22 (Leics 278-5 v Kent)

Corey Flintoff is back for a new spell for Kent. It's a decent first over in this spell, just a couple of singles from it.

But there is another breakthrough as Joey Evison sends Stevie Eskinazi packing with a ball of fairly full length.

Ben Cox is in at number seven.

  13. 50 partnership for Yorkshirepublished at 15:20 BST 16 September

    Sussex v Yorks 166-7

An uncharacteristic wide by Ollie Robinson which is fielded by first slip brings up a 50 partnership between Mayank Agarwal and Jordan Thompson and boy, did Yorkshire need it after being reduced to 115-7. The job isn't by means done for these two, though, in a game which could have serious relegation ramifications for the loser.

  14. Postpublished at 15:18 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 53-5

Stop me if this gets boring.

Matt Fisher wings one past Lyndon James' edge.

Fisher has never taken 10 wickets in a first class match - he needs one more!

  15. 'Game lurching strongly back towards Surrey'published at 15:18 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 51-5

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Slight inside edge from Jack Haynes who was looking to play positive but that has been interrupted with the fourth wicket of this innings for Matt Fisher, he's got nine in the game.

This game is lurching strongly back towards Surrey. They had a disappointing time to say the least of it with the bat this morning either side of lunch but they've roared back with the ball.

This Notts second innings is in a right unholy mess.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:14 BST 16 September

    Haynes b Fisher 16 (Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 53-5)

    Nine for Matt Fisher.

Jack Haynes has had enough and decides he needs to take what he can.

He flays Fisher away for a couple and then tries to do the same, gets an inside edge and has his leg stump flattened.

  17. 50 runs

50 up for Nottspublished at 15:13 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 51-4

It's been a real struggle but up comes the Notts 50 albeit with a fair bit of damage.

Kyle Verreynne then incurs some damage of his own as he's struck on the hand but he's fine to continue.

  18. 'An innings of concentration'published at 15:12 BST 16 September

    Somerset 179-5 v Hants

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It's been an innings of good concentration so far from from Tom Abell.

  19. 'It's tough for the batters'published at 15:11 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 46-4

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

We've had nine lbws in this match so far and had a lot caught behind with the keeper. We've also had a lot caught in the slips.

It tells it's own story, it's tough for the batters out there.

  20. Postpublished at 15:09 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 46-4

Matt Fisher has got it on a string.

He forces the new man Kyle Verreynne to inside edge into his pads.

Fisher is bowling full and giving it every chance to swing and seam.

Notts lead by 104 runs and Tom Lawes is introduced to the Surrey attack.
