  1. Postpublished at 14:44 BST 16 September

    Durham v Worcs 169-4

Another big shout, this time from Matthew Potts, on Gareth Roderick but the Worcs keeper just gets an inside edge on to it before it slams the pad.

He follows up with a ripper which seams in and whistles a millimetre or two past the off stump as Roderick shoulders arms nonchalantly in the manner of a man who knew it was missing (he didn't!).

  2. Postpublished at 14:40 BST 16 September

    Warwicks v Essex 135-3

Warwickshire have bowled 53 overs in the day now.

They can't concern themselves with what is going on elsewhere - they have to win.

Essex will probably take a draw especially with Sussex and Yorkshire taking lumps out of each other below them.

  3. Postpublished at 14:38 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 25-1

Freddie McCann directs one to the backward-point boundary - he was aiming a lot squarer than that.

It's his first four of the innings.

Every single run will worry Surrey but we've seen wickets fall later in both innings so far.

    Notts lead by 83 runs.

  4. Close!published at 14:37 BST 16 September

    Durham v Worcs 168-4

Brett D'Oliveira is just about making up for the mix up which sent Rehaan Edavalath on his way but he could have been a very lucky bunny there.

Will Rhodes has beaten him all ends up and may have even clipped the stump without dislodging the bail judged by the reaction from Ollie Robinson and Emilio Gay behind the stumps.

The pair stare longingly at the wickets as if the bail might drop seconds after but instead the Worcs skipper, on 19 at the time, survives as his side reestablish another bridgehead.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:37 BST 16 September

    Hill c Garrett b Cohen 54 (Leics 242-4 v Kent)

Michael Cohen angles the ball across Lewis Hill, who attempts a big drive but hits it to cover.

Like Rishi Patel before him, he may feel that's a wicket rather given away by a batter very well set.

Cohen has 1-65 and Stevie Eskinazi is the next man in.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 14:33 BST 16 September

Northants have lost another wicket at Bristol, with Justin Broad falling to Ajeet Singh Dale for 12 - the score is 151-5 in the 45th over.

Kiran Carlson is nearing 50 for Glamorgan, who are 11-6 in the 43rd against Derbyshire.

Thankfully, they are out in the middle again at Old Trafford and Middlesex are 17-2 in the sixth over against Lancashire.

  7. 'A massive collapse'published at 14:32 BST 16 September

    Sussex v Yorks 115-7

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

It was a nothing sort of a delivery from Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

This really is a massive collapse in the context of the season.

  8. 50 runs

for Lewis Hillpublished at 14:29 BST 16 September

    Leics 224-3 v Kent

Lewis Hill is Leicestershire's leading run scorer in the Championship this season and another good knock is rewarded with 50 from 80 balls as he dabs Michael Cohen down to the third man boundary.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:27 BST 16 September

    Bess c Simpson b Hudson-Prentice 0 (Sussex v Yorks 115-7)

Yorkshire are in disarray at Hove.

George Hill tries to flick a ball from FHP down to third man and is caught at first slip and Dom Bess is caught behind down the leg side from the next delivery.

In typical fashion, Jordan Thompson meets the hat-trick ball challenge head on and cover drives for four.

  10. Postpublished at 14:25 BST 16 September

    Leics 214-3 v Kent

What a long run up Michael Cohen has.

We once saw Michael Holding bowling at Grace Road and Cohen is also one of the 'closer to the boundary than the stumps' brigade.

He is all hustle and bustle as he searches for his first wicket after taking a bit of punishment this morning.

Lewis Hill tries to leave one which swings back in extravagantly and only just misses off stump before running away for four off a thin inside edge.

  11. 'Pulsating viewing at the moment'published at 14:21 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 10-1

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

We're seeing some exceptional bowling in this game but I think it's fair to say that the batsmen have found this tough going.

There's been the odd delivery that has frankly been ridiculous but it's making for some pulsating viewing at the moment if you can have such a thing.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:19 BST 16 September

    Patel c Stewart b Singh 114 (Leics 210-3 v Kent)

A disappointing demise for Rishi Patel.

He plays a fraction early at a ball from medium-pacer Ekansh Singh and chips a catch to mid-wicket.

Patel batted for 191 minutes, faced 143 balls and hit 21 fours.

It's a memorable moment for 19-year-old Singh - his first wicket in first-class cricket.

  13. 'Very good piece of bowling from Worrall.published at 14:18 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 9-1

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

    Ben SlaterImage source, Rex Features

Ben Slater has played that as if it's kept low but it hasn't. He just got locked on that backfoot and it actually beaten the outside edge and hit the off stump.

Very good piece of bowling from Dan Worrall.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:17 BST 16 September

    Slater b Worrall 4 (Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 9-1)

    That's kept low.

Dan Worrall bowls around the wicket, it keeps low and skittles Ben Slater who has every right to stare at the surface.

    Notts lead by 67 runs.

Freddie McCann marches out to join his skipper.

  15. 50 runs

for Saif Zaibpublished at 14:16 BST 16 September

    Glos v Northants 143-4

What a stellar season Saif Zaib is having.

He dabs a ball from Ajeet Singh Dale to point for a couple and reaches yet another 50 from 77 balls.

He is now holding this innings together, can he go on to three figures for the seventh time in 2025?

  16. Mix-up ends a promising knockpublished at 14:15 BST 16 September

    Worcestershire 146-4 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Reehan Edavalath will no doubt spend the next hour or so in the dressing room, thinking about what could have been.

The 21-year-old is playing in his third first-class match and was on 61 when he had a rush of blood and ran himself out.

Brett D'Oliveira guided a ball from Ben Raine to Graham Clark at backward gully. There was certainly no run to be had but Edavalath set off anyway.

By the time he realised his mistake it was too late and he was run out by Alex Lees as he tried to get back to the crease at the bowler's end.

It was the second wicket to fall just after lunch. He and Daniel Lategan had earlier put on 84 for the third wicket. Lategan was on a career-best 44 when he fell lbw to Raine in the 39th over.

  17. 'Westley not at his fluent best'published at 14:14 BST 16 September

    Warwicks v Essex 111-3

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

We didn't didn't see the fluent best of Tom Westley, he looked quite secure for a long time but he hasn't made a huge amount of progress.

    He's batted a long time for 25.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:10 BST 16 September

    Westley b Bamber 25 (Warwicks v Essex 111-3)

Nelson strikes....and so does Ethan Bamber.

The Warwickshire seamer starts one wide and it swings in to make a mess of Tom Westley's furniture.

Matt Critchley is in at number five for Essex.

  19. 'A messy run out'published at 14:09 BST 16 September

    Durham v Worcs 142-4

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcester

The Rehaan Edavalath wicket was pretty disastrous for Worcestershire. He had worked so hard for his 61 and played beautifully.

It was a needless run out in the end, he just took off and he and Brett D'Oliveira weren't watching each other. It was a messy run out.

  20. 'Cricket's exciting when there's fast bowling'published at 14:07 BST 16 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 6-0

    Roland Butcher
Former England batter on BBC Radio Surrey

Not just in this game but in every game. Once it has fast bowlers there's a certain excitement about the game.

And we've seen some good bowling on this pitch.
