What a game we've seen tonight!

It went down to the wire but Southern Brave claimed a one-wicket win over Manchester Originals to do the double at Old Trafford after the women's side won comfortably earlier in the day.

You can read Mike Peter's report on number 11 Reece Topley getting the men over the line here.

We can't dwell on this game for too long, though, as The Hundred rolls on and tomorrow it's over to Headingley for another double header as Northern Superchargers take on Welsh Fire.

Join us for the first of those games from 14:45 BST tomorrow!

  2. 'We never lost faith'published at 21:34 British Summer Time 6 August

Southern Brave captain James Vince speaking on Sky Sports: "We never lost faith but it did become a mountain to climb. Winning these gives you that extra special feeling. It increases the euphoria and this is a great win for us."

"The benefit of bowling first is knowing what you have to chase. Finding boundaries was hard and whenever we put our foot down we lost wickets. It was a great feeling to get over the line."

On Reece Topley: "I had full faith in him. I don't think he had his own pads! To get behind and get the job done is amazing."

On bowling: "We knew early wickets was crucial. No one was able to get in and really strike cleanly but we tried to set up to bat deep. We don't like the end boys taking all the work but we know we bat deep."

On Tymal Mills: "He was outstanding again. He was able to hit the pitch hard and changed things up when he needed to."

Had this game gone the over way then it is highly likely it would have been Scott Currie collecting that player of the match award.

The seamer bowled brilliantly for Manchester Originals, using his variations superbly as he took 4-28.

Unfortunately for him, though, his last ball going for six is what sparked the Brave fightback.

  4. 'This will give us great momentum'published at 21:28 British Summer Time 6 August

Player of the Match and Southern Brave bowler Tymal Mills speaking on Sky Sports: "We got ourselves into a place where it was in our hands. Credit to Manchester they bowled so well. Craigy [Craig Overton] played some very good shots and this stands us in good stead for the rest of the tournament."

On the run chase at the end: "Bat on ball was the main thing and scamper as best we could. Craigy [Craig Overton] had a brilliant knock too. We tried to take it as deep as we could and Topley finished it brilliantly."

On the wicket: "The wicket rewarded you for hitting it hard. There was a bit of bounce there then. We communicated that quickly and we were happy with the score at halfway and confident to reach it."

On getting the win: "To win is very important. You can't afford too many losses. To get one that went to the wire will give us great momentum."

No dream debut for James Anderson as he made his first appearance in franchise cricket at the age of 43.

The England legend bowled nicely up front but his last five balls went the distance as Jason Roy, something of an England legend himself as a World Cup winner, hit him for three consecutive boundaries...

Jos Buttler is giggling. His reaction is saying, I don't know what more we could have done?

Craig Overton was instrumental in those closing stages for Southern Brave.

He finishes unbeaten on 18 from eight balls, vital runs when the game seemed to have gone.

Tymal Mills started the fightback with a six of his own and for that - although probably more for his 3-22 with the ball - he is named player of the match.

What a match we have had. Every ball was going one way or the other. It was like a see-saw.

Reece Topley slashes the ball away for four! Southern Brave win it with a ball to spare!

What a match - comfortably the best game of The Hundred so far this year.

Manchester Originals looked short at halfway, the game was in the balance for a long time before the Originals looked to have it won.

Brave went from needing 26 off 11 to four from five, lost another wicket with three needed - only for the number 11 to deliver the goods. Remarkable stuff!

This is where you say, just get some bat on ball and run. Mills went for the big hit and found the fielder.

He cannot believe it and has to go.

It's all going on. Craig Overton slices one towards extra cover, two fielders converge but they get in each other's way.

Both dive and one knocks it away from the other... and all the way to the boundary.
