  1. Brave 33-1published at 70 balls left

    Target 132

Lewis Gregory gets through a very tidy first five as an Original.

Four from it as he hammers away back of a length. Nothing much for Jason Roy or Leus du Plooy to work with.

Originals still have a lot of work to do. Pace off will be a better option for Anderson and Baker.

  3. Brave 29-1published at 75 balls left

    Target 132

Just two more singles from the last three balls to end the powerplay.

Only one wicket for the Originals but they'll be pleased with this start, they've prevented Brave from getting off to a flyer.

  4. Brave 27-1published at 78 balls left

    Target 132

Jimmy Anderson is back but Jason Roy improves his record at Old Trafford by guiding the ball just wide of short third for four.

Superb shot next ball, whipped wristily over the leg side for four more.

Jason Roy averages 37.60 and strikes at 153 in T20/Hundred cricket at Old Trafford. This is his best batting record of any of the eight host grounds in the competition.

  6. Brave 19-1published at 80 balls left

    Target 132

Jason Roy is in at three for Brave and faces an lbw appeal first ball as Sonny Baker continues.

Just sliding down leg, though, and the England man gets off the mark a couple of balls later.

An impressive 10 from Baker but it ends with a boundary for Leus du Plooy, driven crisply through the off side.

That is the breakthrough they wanted. Sonny Baker has been brilliant.

There is everything happening at the moment, it's all a bit theatrical.

  8. wicket

    Vince b Baker 6 (Brave 14-1)

    Bowled 'im!

That one boundary aside, it's been a good start from Sonny Baker and now he has his reward.

Having been short or back of a length for the first four balls, he goes full with the fifth and beats James Vince for pace.

That's the wicket the Originals wanted.

  9. Brave 14-0published at 87 balls left

    Target 132

Banged in short by Sonny Baker and James Vince nails the pull shot in front square.

Four from the moment it left the bat.

  10. Brave 10-0published at 90 balls left

    Target 132

No breakthrough for Jimmy Anderson but a typically accurate first 10 balls - well, nine of 10 anyway.

Sonny Baker will take the next five balls for Originals.

This is a good call from Phil Salt. Anderson will be the most dangerous up top.

If you want an early breakthrough, pass the ball to Jimmy.

  12. Brave 8-0published at 95 balls left

    Target 132

Three decent balls from Jimmy Anderson but the line is wrong with the fourth, heading down leg and Leus du Plooy tickles it away fine for four.

Great response from Anderson. Swinging delivery that beats the left-hander and goes through to the keeper.

That's enough to earn Sir James another five balls.

Here come the players for the start of the Brave chase and it had to be: Jimmy Anderson will open the bowling for the Originals...

  14. 'We would have liked a few more'published at 19:55 British Summer Time

Manchester Originals captain Phil Salt speaking on Sky Sports: "It was a bit more bit more like old school Old Trafford, it was quite steep. We would have liked a few more but I think we will have a good sniff.

"It is massive having James Anderson in our side. But he won't be bowling from his end unfortunately! Sonny Baker is massive as well as he can really move the ball."

"We would have liked more, but we have a good chance."

James Anderson in the T20 Blast this year: 17 wickets @ 14.70 with economy-rate of 7.57

11 of Anderson’s 17 poles have come in the powerplay. Might we see Anderson bowling 15/20 balls of the first 25?

That's right, history will be made tonight at Old Trafford as Sir James Anderson becomes the first knight of the realm to play in The Hundred...

    Thanks, Mike.

After a fast start, Manchester Originals would have had eyes on a total larger than the 131 they ended up with.

It will be tough to defend, especially with a bowling line-up that includes two Hundred debutants.

Then again one of those debutants has 704 Test wickets to his name...

Manchester Originals will perhaps feel they should have scored a few more - they only managed four boundaries after the 26th ball of the innings.

But it doesn't look the easiest of pitches, so the game is still in balance.

Here's Sam Drury to see if Southern Brave can chase their target.

  19. Originals 131-4published at 100 balls

    And that's the innings.

The batters run through a swift bye after Jordan's penultimate ball goes through to the keeper, then Chapman takes two to point from the 100th ball.

    Southern Brave will chase 132.

With 130 you always have a chance. Originals will feel like they should have got more given the powerplay they had.

I wonder if the depth of the batting order played into the psyche of the batters in the middle phase.
