  1. Postpublished at 13:29 BST

    Essex 457-8dec v Durham 333 & 71-5

Graham Clark gets off the mark from his fifth ball with a nicely-timed drive through the covers off Simon Harmer which beats the diving fielder on the rope.

The deficit is down to 53.

These two feel absolute crucial to avoiding the prospect of an innings defeat which would deal Durham's survival chances an almost mortal blow.

  2. Hove updatepublished at 13:28 BST

Sussex 37-1 - target 278 to beat Hants

We are going to try and restart at 2pm.

    Tea fixed at 3.30.

A minimum of 51 overs left though that of course is very much weather dependent.

  3. Postpublished at 13:26 BST

Notts 98-6 - target 136 to beat Worcs

Tom Taylor spears one down leg and Liam Patterson-White flicks the ball away for one.

    40 more required.

Lyndon James is half forward and running the ball off a thick edge to deep third for one more.

One more to LPW dabbed wide of the slips.

James is beaten defending on a good length.

A play and miss! Over bowled.

  4. Postpublished at 51 overs

    Middx 298 v Derbys 283 & 119-4

Olly Stone's first nine overs only cost him 12 runs but there are two boundaries in the latest one.

Martin Andersson square cuts for four and then has plenty of time to pull a short one through mid-wicket three balls later.

  5. Postpublished at 13:25 BST

    Warwickshire 14-0 - target 390

Slow going in SE11. Warwickshire do not look interested in a chase, they are in survival mode at present.

Gus Atkinson is applying plenty of pressure but Alex Davies gets lucky with an edge off the shoulder of the bat which loops over the slips and away for four runs.

He has 10* from 28 balls.

Rob Yates has 4* from 21.

  6. Postpublished at 4 overs

    Leics 17-1 - target 316

Thankfully, it was a brief hold-up at Grace Road and the players are back out in the middle.

Ajeet Singh Dale will bowl the first post-lunch over.

  7. Postpublished at 13:23 BST

Notts 95-6 - target 136 to beat Worcs

Oh, the sun has turned up again. Hello there!

Ben Allison to bowl next. Good length ball and Lyndon James blocks.

Lyndon James is back and across trying to clip to leg. No run.

A straighter ball is blocked down the ground.

    Maiden over.

  8. Latest from Tauntonpublished at 13:22 BST

    Somerset 441-6 dec v Yorkshire 60-6

Better news at the County Ground - there are patches of blue sky in between the overhead clouds.

The covers are gradually being removed by groundstaff and the umpires plan to take a look at 1.55pm.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13:20 BST

    Ackermann c Elgar b Harmer - Essex 457-8dec v Durham 333 & 67-5

    The pressure intensifies.

Colin Ackermann pulls Simon Harmer through mid-wicket for four but two balls later he's gone, stepping back in his crease and trying a late cut, only to loop the ball straight into the mitts of Dean Elgar at slip.

    So avoidable.

Durham are 57 behind with five wickets in hand.

Graham Clark is the new batter, joining Ollie Robinson, who is 11*.

  10. Postpublished at 13:18 BST

Notts 95-6 - target 136 to beat Worcs

Notts lurched from 50-1 to 91-6 before lunch.

The Pears bowled superbly. Very few loose balls. But...

A juicy leg stump half volley from Tom Taylor and Liam Patterson-White clips the ball away for four.

Better ball. Good length and blocked into mid off.

Now LPW gets a bit more width and shoulders arms.

  11. Postpublished at 13:18 BST

    Essex 457-8 dec v Durham 333 & 63-4

Jamie Porter does indeed open at the opposite end to Simon Harmer and Ollie Robinson survives a decent shout for lbw and then plays and misses at the final ball.

Two maidens to start the session.

Absolute pressure cooker at Chelmsford where the sun is out... though it might not be all afternoon.

  12. rain stops play

It's raining at Grace Roadpublished at 13:16 BST

    Leics 17-1 - target 316

Well that is a real shame - just as we were wondering how Leicestershire might approach this run chase against Gloucestershire with another 70 overs, in theory, to be bowled.

They need to score another 299 for their seventh win of the season but even a draw will probably be enough to ensure they play Division One cricket next season for the first time since 2003.

Rishi Patel is two not out and Ian Holland has yet to score, having been struck a painful blow on the hand in the penultimate over of the morning.

  13. Play resumes at New Roadpublished at 13:15 BST

Notts 91-6 - target 136 to beat Worcs

Notts need some momentum and both teams need fair weather as all results are possible from here.

We have had a few spots of rain lately. But we are starting at least.

Yes, here come the umpires. The players are on the boundary edge.

Liam Patterson-White faces Tom Taylor to start the session on five not out.

Lyndon James battled through to a 43-ball five and he's at the other end.

Runs have been hard earned. Very few freebies from the Pears.

  14. Play resumes at Northamptonpublished at 13:12 BST

    Northants 413-9 dec v Glam 467 & 95-3

Any declaration batting on the cards here?

The lead is 149 and the batting tempo has been steady rather than spectacular so far.

Colin Ingram faces seam bowler Ben Whitehouse first on 28 not out.

    Kiran Carlson has 14.

  15. Back under way at The Ovalpublished at 13:12 BST

    Warwickshire 7-0 - target 390

Alex Davies and Rob Yates resume their quest... whether it's for glory, or survival, we shall soon see...

71 overs remain in the day for Surrey to find 10 wickets, or for the visitors to find 383 runs.

Gus Atkinson bowls the first over, with Yates on strike.

  16. Play resumes at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:11 BST

    Essex 457-8dec v Durham 333 & 63-4

Ollie Robinson and Colin Ackermann return to the middle with Durham trailing by 61 runs and 65 overs remaining in the day.

Can't take your eye off this one for a minute.

Essex are a bowler short with no Shane Snater but have dealt with the workload manfully thus far, but Doug Bracewell has also been off for some treatment this morning.

Simon Harmer takes the first over but Jamie Porter is refreshed and will surely get a burst at some point after a fine spell first thing this morning.

  17. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:05 BST

    Kent 293 & 276-7 v Lancs 284

Ekansh Singh's career-best 55* and a blistering assault from Matt Quinn, who has hit eight fours in his 37* from 34 balls has given Kent some breathing space in the 45-minute session before lunch.

Mitch Stanley took two wickets in three balls to leave Kent reeling at seven down and 221 ahead but this eighth wicket is worth 64 in 10 overs and the lead is 285 at the lunch break.

  18. Still raining in Tauntonpublished at 13:01 BST

    Somerset 441-6 dec v Yorkshire 60-6

They took lunch 10 minutes early at the County Ground because of rain and should therefore be resuming the game about now.

But the weather has not improved during the interval. The covers are on and you wonder how much more action we are going to see in this match.

  19. Still delayed at Hovepublished at 13:00 BST

Sussex 37-1 - target 278 to beat Hants

County Ground, HoveImage source, Adrian Harms/BBC Sussex

The covers are off and it isn't raining.

However, the field is still very damp and it is clouding over again.

An early lunch was taken at noon in hope of some afternoon play.

More updates as they come in.

  20. 50 runs

for Ekansh Singhpublished at 13:00 BST

    Kent 293 & 268-7 v Lancs 284

The teenager wallops Tom Hartley to the long-off boundary for his fifth four to go with a six and brings up his maiden first class half-century from 121 balls.

He's put on 50 with Matt Quinn for the eight wicket too as the Kent lead passes 275.
