    Hants 3-0 v Lancs

OK, the strains of the national anthem - sung with gusto - have died away and the final begins.

Left-armer Mahika Gaur opens the bowling for Lancashire and nearly makes an early breakthrough as Rhianna Southby almost chops onto her stumps.

Strong start from the bowler all the same, conceding just three singles.

    Hampshire v Lancashire (10:30 BST)

Lancashire captain Ellie Threlkeld has won the toss and decided that her team is going to bowl first.

There is one change to the Hampshire line-up from the side that beat Surrey here four days ago as Daisy Gibb comes in for Ava Lee.

Hampshire: Bouchier, Southby (wk), Adams (capt), Kemp, Norgrove, Harman, Dattani, Taylor, Davies, Gibb, Tyson.

The visitors go with exactly the same XI that did so well to beat The Blaze at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.

Lancashire: Lewis, Clarke, Smale, Morris, Threlkeld (capt/wk), Lister, Cross, Carter, Potts, Gaur, Jones.

If Lancashire are to lift the trophy today, they’ll have to do it without the services of their top run machine Emma Lamb.

The 27-year-old batter is streets ahead of her rivals in this year’s tournament, racking up 794 runs in 12 appearances – but her England commitments in the run-up to the World Cup mean she misses out in Southampton.

Captain Ellie Threlkeld and Ailsa Lister plugged the gap in the Red Rose’s gripping semi-final win over The Blaze at Trent Bridge, hitting 92 and 96 respectively to galvanise their side’s recovery from 52-4 and post a competitive total of 241-6.

The Blaze looked on course to chase that down at 187-3, but seam pair Kate Cross (3-47) and Grace Potts (3-32) applied the pressure and ensured Lancashire squeezed home by just five runs.

It was a case of ‘close but no cigar’ for Hampshire’s men on Saturday – so now it’s up to the women’s team to snag some white-ball silverware on home turf at Utilita Bowl.

History, in a manner of speaking, suggests Hampshire should do that. Their side includes a number of players who featured in Southern Vipers’ trio of 50-over titles in five years before the women’s game was restructured in a county format for this season.

The home side will also start as favourites based on the league standings, having topped the table with nine wins from 14 games – including an eight-wicket rout of Lancashire when the sides met at Southport in April.

Captain Georgia Adams marshalled Hampshire’s successful four-wicket chase in the semi-final at home to Surrey with an unbeaten 107 from 101 balls after seamer Freya Davies – their leading wicket-taker in the tournament – had returned 4-39 in the visitors’ total of 287.
