I wonder what Bangladesh will be thinking now. If they bat out the 50 overs they will gain some dignity but there's no point doing that at their current pace and not achieving a defendable target.

Alternatively they could just go for it, and take the risk of not finishing the overs but potentially giving India something to bat at.

Axar Patel, sporting some ski-mask style mirrored sunglasses, rattles through another over with this Bangladesh pair reluctant to play anything expansive.

    It's a real grind, if we're honest.

Bangladesh's WinViz is into double figures. A milestone given where they were at 35-5 (and 4%!).

  4. Ban 119-5published at 32 overs

Bangladesh ticking along in these middle overs. Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali have 42 runs apiece - off 74 and 76 balls respectively - after a Harshit Rana over which causes them relatively little alarm.

It hasn't been firing but this has been exactly what Bangladesh needed after those first early wickets. Jaker and Hridoy are building some momentum.

It will be difficult to judge when to go big because there isn't someone like Mahmudullah to come. Hossain can hit a little bit but after that, they are really into the tailenders.

  6. Ban 113-5published at 31 overs

There's a brief mid-over break while Jaker Ali, who looks like he is sweating buckets under his mop of hair, is attended to by the physio and given some much-needed refreshment.

Singles bookend an otherwise frugal over from Axar Patel.

Axar Patel back into the attack.

He was unfortunate not to become the fifth India bowler to take an ODI hat-trick.

  8. Ban 111-5published at 30 overs

Harshit Rana, who replaced the injured Jasprit Bumrah in India's squad, replaced Kuldeep Yadav as Rohit Sharma backs his seamers to break this partnership.

It's a profitable over for Bangladesh, though, as Jaker Ali, caresses Harshit down the ground for four. Eight runs taken off the over.

Mohammed Shami drops it short and wide with his fourth ball - a freebie if we're honest - but Jaker Ali is unable to punish it as he fluffs a pull shot and has to settle for a single.

He bounces Towhid Hridoy with the final ball of the over, and he steers it behind square for one.

Low-risk stuff from this Bangladesh pair.

  10. Ban 99-5published at 28 overs

Kuldeep Yadav is wind milling his arms as he delivers, but it's tight bowling rather than bowling magic balls.

Five dots from Kuldeep followed by a nudge for a single from Jaker Ali to pinch the strike.

There's no names in the Bangladesh side to come who have huge batting finesse. Jaker and Hridoy are struggling with Kuldeep's spin at the moment and that will only become more difficult.

If India realise that spin works well for them on this surface, they may decide to bring another spinner into their side.

  12. Ban 98-5published at 27 overs

Mohammed Shami returns to the attack.

He's a little stiff with his first few balls - conceding a wide and two singles - before hitting hit straps in the second half of the over. He'll fancy his chances of winkling one of these two Bangladesh batters out.

Getting to 250 now could get Bangladesh into the game, but it seems unlikely with the line-up to come. Even if they could get there, it probably won't be enough to beat this India side.

Bangladesh look as though they will crash and burn.

  14. Ban 95-5published at 26 overs

    Thanks, Mike.

Bangladesh have slowly rebuilt here. Can they get themselves to half-decent total which might at least test India a little?

Kuldeep Yadav is through another over with Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali content milk three singles. Still a relatively safety-first approach from these two.

  15. Ban 92-5published at 25 overs

Jaker faces all of Jadeja's sixth over, taking two with another sweep to fine leg.

Time for me to hand over to Timothy Abraham to take you through the rest of this innings.

  16. Ban 90-5published at 24 overs

Jaker sweeps Kuldeep's final delivery into the depths of the mid-wicket outfield, and it's collected by the man on the ropes.

The Bangladesh pair only run a single, a Towhid seems a little frustrated they didn't hurry through a second.

  17. Ban 86-5published at 23 overs

Jadeja sends down a handy delivery that drags Jaker out of his crease, but KL Rahul can't collect swiftly enough to take off the bails.

The Bangladesh batter then takes a single to bring up the 50 partnership off 88 deliveries.

Both he and Towhid have offered good catching chances to India and should probably be back in the pavilion, but this has still been a reasonable rebuilding job in the face of utter calamity.

  18. Ban 84-5published at 22 overs

Jaker Ali faces four Kuldeep dot balls before finding a single in the off side.

He moves to 24, Towhid is on 26.

There's not been many boundaries to speak of which is where the lack of hitters in the Bangladesh side comes into play.

They have built the foundations but now is the time to accelerate. They are going to come against some high quality and quick spin and India will be rattling through their overs.

  20. Ban 83-5published at 21 overs

A change of ends for Ravindra Jadeja as he replaces Axar Patel.

The Bangladesh batters take him for two singles apiece before Jadeja closes his over with two dot balls.
