Another simple catch which, at this level, Hardik should be gobbling up for breakfast.

Perhaps these slower overs have allowed India to nod off in the field, that seemed to take them by surprise.

  2. dropped catch

Towhid dropped on 23published at 20 overs

    Ban 79-5

Now both batters have been handed a lifeline!

Towhid Hridoy drives Kuldeep's penultimate delivery towards Hardik Pandya at mid-off.

It's a good height and the India fielder should take the catch, but he spills the ball moving to his right.

The Bangladesh batters run a single.

  3. Ban 76-5published at 19.2 overs

Kuldeep Yadav into the attack and he over-steps, offering Towhid the chance to face a free hit.

He chops the ball out to mid-wicket and over the ropes - Shreyas Iyer was the sweeper out there and maybe he should have cut it off.

The first boundary since the drinks break.

  4. Ban 70-5published at 19 overs

Very much into the spinning middle-overs as Jaker and Towhid work four more singles from Axar.

This pair have doubled Bangladesh's score - their partnership is now worth 35.

The two young Bangladesh players at the crease are doing an incredible job to try and re-build. They will consider this the start of the recovery but neither have been able to play their natural games.

Bangladesh need to not get frustrated or allow their T20 heads to takeover.

  6. Ban 66-5published at 18 overs

And just a single off Jadeja's third, a Towhid push to mid-on.

Jaker finishes the over by facing three more dot balls.

India don't rely on individual performances, they win as a team. That allows them to play to conditions and the weaknesses of the opposition because they have so many options to choose from.

You want a squad with depth and India have nailed that.

  8. Ban 65-5published at 17 overs

A first maiden for Axar, sending down six dot balls to Jaker Ali.

He has figures of 2-13 from his five overs so far.

  9. How's stat?!published at 10:19 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February

The lowest total Bangladesh have been dismissed for in the Champions Trophy is the 77 they made against New Zealand in September 2002. It's the second-lowest overall in the tournament, behind USA's 65 against Australia in September 2004.

  10. Ban 65-5published at 16 overs

Jadeja continues after drinks, with the Bangladesh batters working him for three singles.

No wickets since the ninth over, the match calming down a tad after a frantic start.

It has been impressive from Jaker Ali so far. He was brought in due to some injuries and turned out to be the finisher that Bangladesh were looking for.

He has not been able to play his natural game today as he is used to coming in at the end when he can go for it, but he has coped well. It's a chance for him to show what he can do.

  12. drinks break

    Ban 62-5published at 15 overs

Decent shot from Jaker, making room and chopping Axar's delivery to the ropes at third.

    The players will take drinks.

Spin at both ends now as Ravindra Jadeja replaces Hardik Pandya.

Four runs from his first over, including a well-run Jaker two to backward square.

As the ball gets older, Bangladesh can use this time to build up some runs.

Patience is the key here and staying calm. Both players at the crease are quality T20 players but the test will be if they can transfer this into the slightly longer format.

  15. Ban 50-5published at 13 overs

Jaker Ali brings up Bangladesh's 50 with the only run of Axar's over, pushing the ball into the covers.

Axar follows up with five dot balls to Towhid, and twice goes up for wicket appeals - once for lbw and once for caught behind.

Going down leg and just the pad respectively.

Axar Patel missed the chance to join a very exclusive club after that dropped chance by Rohit Sharma. Only four players have taken hat-tricks for India in ODIs:

    • Kuldeep Yadav v West Indies, December 2019
    • Mohammed Shami v Afghanistan, June 2019
    • Kuldeep Yadav v Australia, September 2017
    • Kapil Dev v Sri Lanka, January 1991
    • Chetan Sharma v New Zealand in October 1987

There has been a lack of one-day cricket for Bangladesh. They didn't do a lot of preparation, they only played one practice match which they also lost. That's why they are struggling to get back into this format.

I'm surprised they didn't take their prep more seriously.

  18. Ban 49-5published at 12 overs

A good wristy cut from Towhid Hridoy to pick up his first four.

Hardik Pandya offers a bit of width with his final delivery and the Bangladesh batter unleashes to send the ball to the boundary.

It's a sticky situation for Bangladesh. They could go more aggressive but in doing so, they risk losing more wickets. They are staring down the barrel of what could be a huge loss.

It will take something special which these two batters have not done before. Facing India in an ICC tournament is as big as it gets, so they need to dig deep.

  20. Ban 42-5published at 11 overs

Axar continues with two slips, three singles from the over.

Meanwhile let's take another look at Bangladesh's horror start, as they lost their first two wickets for two runs.
