Summary

  1. Ban 165-5published at 40 overs

Rohit Sharma wastes little time in whipping a bowler out the attack if he's taken some tap.

The India skipper summons Hardik Pandya, and the all-rounder manages to temper the intent show by Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy.

Three singles off the over. India will not mind that one bit.

Hridoy has decided to put his foot on the accelerator with his second six, which is unexpected from him, but pleasing to see.

Bangladesh could be regretting their decision to have so many pacers in their side after seeing what India have done with spin today.

  3. Ban 162-5published at 39 overs

A total of 250 might just be gettable if Jaker Ali can follow Towhid Hridoy and take the game on.

This is where the tigers need to roar. All the milestones are coming together with 150 runs on the board and two half centuries.

If these two can look to keep going for another eight or nine overs, they can really push this total on.

  5. 6 runs

    Ban 160-5published at 38.4 overs

    Boom!

Ravindra Jadeja, sporting an orange headband, is heaved into the stands by Towhid Hridoy.

It's a slog sweep from the Bangladesh batter which went 88 metres.

India have bowled well but they haven't turned the screw and tried to end this game quickly. It feels as though they are utilising Bangladesh as a practice to get used to this surface and prepare for more competitive opponents.

  7. Ban 151-5published at 38 overs

Bangladesh have nudged the run-rate up to 3.97.

They probably need Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali to go bananas in the last 10 if they are to challenge India's powerful top order, though.

  8. 6 runs

    Ban 149-5published at 37.2 overs

At last. We have a six.

Towhid Hridoy shuffles down the pitch and hammers a Kuldeep Yadav googly for six over extra cover. Muscle and timing in that shot.

  9. Ban 143-5published at 37 overs

No sign of Bangladesh upping the ante just yet.

There is re-building but also not pushing as hard as you could, and this is the case for Bangladesh. The run-rate is remaining pretty stagnant and very slow.

The half-centuries for both players is a signal to kick-on. They need to get up to 220 or 230 at least.

  11. 50 runs

Fifty for Towhidpublished at 36.2 overs

Towhid Hridoy opens the face against Ravindra Jadeja and guides the ball down to the vacant third region to pick up four. He too, has a half-century.

First ball after drinks and Jaker Ali works Kuldeep Yadav off his legs for a couple to reach his half-century.

    It's come off 87 balls.

He celebrates, rather unconventionally, by holding his bat horizontally on to his chest.

The Bangladesh batters have really struggled to read Kuldeep Yadav. He has won all of the battles he's had today.

You can see the Bangladesh fans in the crowd trying to encourage their team for the last few overs.

  15. drinks break

    Bangladesh 132-5published at 35 overs

The players take a bit of H20 and some carbonated energy drinks on board.

Suspect Bangladesh will bat out another five overs then have a bit of a thrash in the last 10.

  16. Ban 131-5published at 35 overs

India are getting through their overs briskly thanks to their spinners. Ravindra Jadeja seems to barely waste a moment between balls as he rattles through another over in double-quick time.

Jaker Ali has moved on to 49. He's his three fours in his innings - here's one of them.

Bangladesh now know they will not get to a solid total, so they may start to think about individual statistics. They are not playing aggressively or with any competitive attitude.

The Champions Trophy gives teams like Bangladesh the opportunity to get through to the knockout stages because every game matters. But they haven't prepared for this tournament at all and it's extremely frustrating.

  19. Jaker Ali given not outpublished at 32.2

Jaker Ali had lurched forward but the Bangladesh batter has got a sufficient part of his foot behind the line. India's players did not seem particularly excited when it was sent upstairs.

  20. Umpire reviewpublished at 33.2 overs

Rohit Sharma shuffles his pack and makes another bowling change as Kuldeep Yadav returns.

The left-arm spinner gets one to straighten to Jaker Ali which beats his attempt to work it to leg.

KL Rahul whips off the bails. Paul Reiffel, the umpire at square-leg umpire, thinks the Bangladesh batter is in but sends it upstairs to double check.
