Obviously, because it's cricket, the covers are coming back on.

    It's hammering down again.

The rain appears to have eased a little.

The game will restart at 19:35 BST if there is no more.

It certainly is wet out there and the hard thing about this is player welfare. The guys are trying to chase the balls around the boundary and are having to put the brakes on quickly.

There are boos from the crowd, understandably, because they have paid to come and watch cricket. You're out there braving the rain and the players are heading inside, but when the surface is wet to the top layer then you have to be careful.

You don't want someone going over, busting an ankle or a knee, for the sake of staying on the pitch.

Andrew Flintoff and Zak Crawley are sharing some pick-n-mix in the Superchargers dugout, and that's all the insight I've got for you at this stage.

The entire sky over The Oval is very, very dark and grey.

    This doesn't look promising.

Harry Brook was just moving as he hit that shot and his head was coming away from the ball. He looked to flay it through the off side to behind square, but Marcus Stoinis doesn't miss his mark and knocks back middle stump.

Brook is gone - a big wicket for Trent Rockets.

Halfway there, and it's nicely poised.

But the rain is getting heavier...

But Harry Brook's fun is short-lived!

Full and straight from Marcus Stoinis, and Brook gives himself room outside leg stump but completely misses.

    Huge wicket for the Rockets.

It feels like a late September day, doesn't it? The night is closing in quickly and there is definitely a bit of rain in the air as well.

They are staying out there for now though, but they are having to dry the ball very frequently. This outfield is so quick as well with the rain on it, the ball is just racing away.

    Here he is!

Harry Brook with his favourite ramp-over-the-shoulder-while-falling-sideways for four.

Trent Rockets have contained Dan Lawrence quite well since the powerplay, but he puts the pressure back on George Linde with a firm drive through the covers for four.

Matches with three or more dropped catches this season:

    • 4 - Trent Rockets
    • 2 - Welsh Fire
    • 1 - Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Birmingham Phoenix

    Feisty!

David Willey has Harry Brook hopping about his crease with a well-directed bouncer first ball.

Fine spell from the Rockets captain, finishing with 2-22.

Dawid Malan was throwing caution to the wind there. He knew that he was struggling and that it was a case of hitting an amount of boundaries or getting out of there quickly without chewing too many balls up.

It was selfless from him, he played a nice 29 runs actually. He looks dejected as he walks towards the pavilion though.

  16. wicket

    Malan c Ferguson b Willey 29 (Superchargers 56-2)

Malan tries to go again but picks out the fielder.

Lockie Ferguson covers plenty of ground at long-on and takes a smart catch low to the ground, which brings Harry Brook to the middle.

A key wicket for David Willey, who is bowling his final five balls here.

I guess he doesn't need a runner if he can do this - Dawid Malan stands and delivers, launching David Wlley straight down the ground for six.

  18. dropped catch

    Would you believe it?

Marcus Stoinis has put down another in his follow through, pretty much an exact copy of the Malan chance.

Stoinis' slower balls are working, he just can't catch them.

Northern Superchargers don't need this situation at all. This is causing a delay and the rain is coming from the right, those buildings in the distance of London are sort of starting to disappear.

They have brought on Zak Crawley as a runner, so this is about to get really fun and confusing!

    This is unusual.

Dawid Malan is struggling but is going to continue... with Zak Crawley as a runner. This could be... fun?
