You feel Will Young is batting on a different wicket. That was a beautiful shot and Young knew he had good balance.

Young is one of New Zealand's favourite cricketers. The dogged nature that he plays, he is the nicest guy and he is so calm. No-one will say a bad word about him.

There's a desperation for him to score 100.

  4. NZ 105-3published at 23 overs

Will Young's shirt flaps as a breeze blows across the ground at the National Bank Stadium.

Shaheen Afridi decides to go full to the Kiwi batter but his fourth ball slips on to the pads of the Young and he confidently works it the mid-wicket boundary for four.

Here's today's ground dimensions. From the University End, batters will target the square boundary (especially left-handers off their legs).

David Steele, famously dubbed the 'bank clerk who went to war', during the 1975 Ashes. He won BBC Sports Personality of the Year for his efforts.

Meanwhile, back in Karachi, Salman Agha has started bowling his twirlers from round the wicket. A degree of respect shown by both Tom Latham and Will Young as they eke out a couple of singles apiece.

Will Young looks in very good touch.

A slightly premeditated sweep to left-arm spinner Khushdil Shah, but the Black Caps batter executes it superbly and the ball scurries away for four.

We'll allow Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed, then, even though he has seemingly ditched the glasses.

There's value to bowling a short ball. You might not get it right first time, but there's a possibility of picking up a wicket.

That got to Daryl Mitchell a bit quicker than he expected it to.

    A dolly catch at mid-on.

Daryl Mitchell cloths one to mid-on!

Once again Haris Rauf digs it into the pitch and Daryl Mitchell's eyes light up. The Kiwi batter attempts an almighty heave into the leg side, but does not make clean contact and it spoons up to Shaheen Afridi at mid-on.

It's a dolly of a catch and Rauf wheels away in celebration.
