Jimmy Thelin's Aberdeen era got off to a winning start as his side delivered an impressive performance in a Scottish League Cup group-stage victory away to Queen of the South.

The Dons were free-flowing in the first half as Ester Sokler's header was followed up by a fine solo goal from captain Graeme Shinnie.

The Aberdeen striker then scored his second and the visitors' third, finishing off a neat move, before an uneventful second period.

In the other Group A game, Lowland League champions East Kilbride took the bonus point by winning the penalty shoot-out against League 1 hosts Dumbarton after a 1-1 draw.
