As a Red, even I'm getting a bit bored of Slot starting to come out with excuses. Top teams should be winning games within the 90 minutes. If the ref adds five minutes, and we end up playing six, so be it. You play to the whistle, not the clock.

  4. 'It's been obvious we've made errors - not just him' - Slot on Konate's formpublished at 09:40 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

A final word from Liverpool manager Arne Slot on France centre-back Ibrahima Konate, and whether his form has been affected by concerns over his contract, which ends in the summer, and links with a move to Real Madrid:

"If you are losing a game of football, then it doesn't help if you lose the ball too many times, too easily. He's been one of them, but he's definitely not the only one.

"If you then lose a game of football there is so much focus on that one moment, that suddenly your 90 minutes have been very, very poor. That's just not the way I analyse the game.

"In the last two games, it's been obvious and clear that we've made a few errors, not just him [Konate] but others, that we're not used to."

  5. Slot on Salah & Liverpool's goalscoring strugglespublished at 09:34 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Mohamed Salah's form, after choosing not to start him in the midweek Champions League defeat at Galatasaray: "I see the same as at the end of last season, where he scored 12 goals, five from a penalty and one from a set-piece, so six open-play goals.

"He is part of a team that faces a different opposition than the first half of last season.

"To make that comparison you can look at when we played Manchester United away last season and they tried to play out from the back and we stole the ball from them three times.

"Compare that to the way United played at Anfield where [goalkeeper Andre] Onana only went long.

"Then that is one of the answers why it is more difficult to score open-play goals in the second half of last season and first half of this season.

"What I'm trying to say is we're not scoring as many open-play goals. This is something we are working on very hard. But yeah, we still struggle a bit to find enough goals from open play."

  6. Slot on right-backs Bradley & Frimpongpublished at 09:30 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Arne Slot on right-backs Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong and whether they have complained about missing games while midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has played in that position: "Conor was out with an injury in pre-season. Frimpong the same, he has come back from injury. But I don't think players will be complaining they have not been playing if they've been injured. That would be news to me.

"And, just like [Alexander] Isak, if you've been out you can't be expected to play three games in one week.

"Dominik [Szoboszlai] has played very, very well at right-back, apart from that one moment with the penalty. But that is one moment in many minutes he's played there."

  7. 'Main thing is adjusting to his new team-mates' - Slot on Isakpublished at 09:23 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Alexander Isak: "I said to him when he started, the difficult thing will be you will have the appearances, but if you add the minutes together he will only have two or three appearances.

"That's a situation we had from him, not training at Newcastle. But he still has a goal.

"The main thing is him adjusting to his new team-mates and his new team-mates adjusting to him."

  8. 'We need to do better'published at 09:19 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

More from Arne Slot on Liverpool's back-to-back defeats - at Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Galatasaray in the Champions League: "The reaction after losing two games in a row you can argue if that is positive. But what I saw was a team playing until the last minute trying to get a result.

"We were different to the Palace game, winning second balls, we were like in the Palace game close to a result. I've said many times last season the margins are so small. That's the same this season again. We are trying to find ways to be better and not just rely on luck or a set-piece or something.

We don't need to rely on Ekitike going one-on-one with the goalkeeper and getting pulled on his shoulder three times and trying everything to stay on his feet, like our players mainly do. And one minute later a player goes to the ground after this [imitates small contact] and goes to the ground like it's the worst hit he has ever had and the referee gives a penalty.

"Again, this can happen and we should be better than that, that it doesn't matter if we have luck or no luck or whatever.

"By the way, if we had the same referee we had against Galatasaray, we wouldn't have lost against Palace. Because this one blew his whistle exactly after eight minutes.

"But again this has nothing to do with the current results. We need to do better."

  9. 'He's adjusted well' - Slot on new keeper Mamardashvilipublished at 09:15 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on new goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili: "I think we've seen against Southampton how well he's adjusted. We knew we were bringing in a very good goalkeeper. When he plays his first game that's a way of seeing he's adjusted really well to our club. It's not a surprise because he's a quality goalkeeper. Now he can do what we've had to do so many times in the past replacing Alisson, like we've done so many times before."

  10. Injury updates - Alisson, Ekitike, Chiesapublished at 09:13 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on injuries: "Alisson is not part of the squad tomorrow and he won't travel to Brazil for the national team.

"Hugo [Ekitike] is going to train again today, let's see where he is. The same can be said for Frederico [Chiesa].

"It depends on how fast the recovery goes.

"I will be surprised if he [Alisson] will be there for the first game after the international break. From there on things can go a bit faster a bit slower. It's difficult to say.

"I'm not a doctor so I cannot tell you if it is the same [hamstring injury]."

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is here.

On Alisson he said it was "difficult" to put a timescale on his recovery from the hamstring injury he picked up against Galatasaray, but said he would not be joining up with Brazil and would probably not be ready in time for the first game back after the international break.

    More to follow.

Before we switched attention to Liverpool we were talking Nottingham Forest. While we wait for Arne Slot, let's fit in a few more comments on the subject of Ange Postecoglou:

People saying it's only been a month and the fans are embarrassing. It has been a year of a horror show at Tottenham beforehand. Oliver Glasner hasn't just swooped in and taken reins as I'm sure patience would be plentiful. It's just an unwanted appointment.

    M Clarke

There's always this sentiment that the manager needs time and I agree with it, after all Nuno was hardly a world class highly decorated manager before he joined. However, the problem persists with Ange that no one has any idea what he is being given time for. What's his plan?

Giorgi Mamardashvili is in line for a Premier League debut at Stamford Bridge. The Georgian was signed from Valencia last summer for £29m, but was loaned back to Valencia for the 2024-25 season.

He kept eight clean sheets in 34 La Liga games last term.

  15. How many games did Alisson miss last season?published at 09:00 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Alisson missed 10 Premier League games last season with a hamstring injury.

He missed 18 games in all competitions the campaign before.

On both occasions Caoimhin Kelleher stood in for Alisson. That won't be a possibility this time around. Kelleher joined Brentford this summer.

  16. Alisson injury blowpublished at 08:59 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

On Tuesday night, Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed goalkeeper Alisson will miss the game against Chelsea on Saturday.

The 32-year-old had to be replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili in the 56th minute of Liverpool's 1-0 Champions League defeat in Istanbul.

Alisson limped off after saving from goalscorer Victor Osimhen, while striker Hugo Ekitike then pulled up after stretching for the ball and also had to be replaced.

Slot said the Brazil international had felt something when "sprinting back".

On Saturday, Liverpool's five-match winning start to the season was ended at Crystal Palace by Eddie Nketiah's 97th-minute winner for the Eagles.

And, on Tuesday night, Liverpool suffered their second successive defeat, losing at Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Head coach Arne Slot left talisman Mohamed Salah on the bench in Turkey, while goalkeeper Alisson went off injured in the second half.

Eddie Howe will not be the first Premier League manager we hear from this morning, that privilege falls to Reds boss Arne Slot, who is facing the media from around 09:00 BST.

Defending champions Liverpool are having a bit of a wobble, having lost their last two matches...

  19. Can Newcastle get some points and goals on the board?published at 08:50 BST

    Newcastle v Nott'm Forest (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

Talking of Newcastle, we will be hearing from boss Eddie Howe from around 09:30 BST, before Sunday's match against Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies are looking for their second Premier League win of the season following their victory against Wolves in September.

Given the opposition, who are yet to win in six matches under new boss Postecoglou, Howe will see this as a golden opportunity to climb into the top half of the table.

Not only climbing the table, but seeing some goals too, would be a huge boost of confidence for the squad given that no team has scored less goals than Newcastle in the opening seven matches of the Premier League

AJ: Reply to Josh, as fans we have the right to voice our opinion. It's hard not to get disheartened given the fact we've just come off the back of our best season in over 30 years. Yes, he may need time but he won't get it unless results pick up.

Problem is, next few games are Newcastle, Porto and then Chelsea. If we lose all three, which unfortunately looks very likely, I can’t see him staying. Question then is, who could come in?
