It didn't take them much time to click into gear on that right-hand side after making those changes. You just wonder why Trent Alexander-Arnold did not start the game. He's got a great understanding with Mohamed Salah.

    That is extraordinary.

That’s why Liverpool kept Salah rather than Klopp.

    Manchester City 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Interesting keeping from Stefan Ortega as he chests out an inswinging Forest free-kick instead of catching or punching. It worked to be fair.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Newcastle 2-2 Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold is booked for a clumsy challenge and from the free-kick Alexander Isak is close to turning in a header.

    Pure chaos.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORK - Wolvespublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Everton 3-0 Wolves

Wolves so close to a way back into it, only for Matt Doherty's looping header to bounce off the left upright.

Grealish has been a masterstroke in the middle of the park. Makes City look so much more balanced and has been so composed.

  7. Chelsea fans are chanting a lot about Liverpoolpublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Southampton 1-3 Chelsea

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

It has not gone unnoticed at St Mary's Stadium that Liverpool could drop points away at Newcastle as they cheered Newcastle's goal when read out by the Southampton announcer at half-time.

Ever since half-time, a confident away support have begun chanting songs referring to their dislike of Liverpool ahead of a potential title challenge as Chelsea look to close the gap.

Of course, manager Enzo Maresca keeps playing down Chelsea's chances but that hasn't stopped these supporters dreaming.

    Everton 3-0 Wolves

Everton think they have a fourth as Iliman Ndiaye, at the second attempt, puts a loose ball away, but the goal is chalked off as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is judged to have fouled Jose Sa before Ndiaye got the ball.

Even when Forest win the ball back City are so good at the counter press. They play so close together that if they lose the ball their counter press is unbelievable.

    Mo Salah (68 mins)

    What a game!

Trent has an assist moments after coming on, overlapping on the right and feeding in a low cross which Mo Salah runs on to and scoops it across goal and in.

Even when he doesn't catch it sweetly it goes in - that's seven games in a row Salah has scored in...

    No doubt about this one...

"Gary O'Neil, your football is *rubbish*" sing the Wolves supporters.

Substitute 'rubbish' for another less pleasant word.

It's all falling apart from the Wolves boss, the fans have turned and there's only one way to go after that.

We're back at it and Chelsea immediately go on the attack. Cole Palmer plays in Marc Cucurella who crosses for Noni Madueke.

But the Englishman's volley is kept out by the right boot of Joe Lumley.
