I thought it was a red card for William Saliba, denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. The defender on the other side had a long way to cover. Evanilson would have had a one on one with David Raya so it's the right decision.

Image source, PA MediaFor the red card Evanilson is a long way from goal but the issue for Arsenal was the lack of cover for William Saliba. His own man Leandro Trossard plays a poor pass and puts him in a bit of bother.
Saliba is caught the wrong side initially, so it's poor positioning, and then he brings Evanilson down. I think the forward would have got on to the ball and gotten a strike away [if not for the foul], so you can understand why it was a red card for Saliba.

He will miss the crunch home Premier League match against Liverpool next Sunday.

Ultimately Arsenal showing that for all their improvement, being without their three best players (albeit one for a half, partially self-inflicted) and having to play others who aren't fit is a bridge too far. Not got the City or Liverpool depth of squad.

"We did a lot of work in the week. They have a lot of attacking players that can change the game. The red card helped so we could take control of the game.
"Sometimes when a team go a man down they can start playing well, like they did at [Manchester] City. But we created the chances needed to win the game. We know we want to be clinical as each goal in this league is massive.
"Arsenal are so compact. You think of them as an attacking team but they can adapt. We matched them today and got the win."

Rezaa: This game proved one thing. Arsenal have a great first 11, but that's it. The players coming in to replace the likes of Saka are not good enough for a team supposedly fighting for the title.

It is never easy playing against ten men, we've seen what Arsenal have done previsouly when they are a man light, so hard to break down. Bournemouth were able to find a way.

Arsenal have dropped points in three of their eight Premier League games so far this season. In all three of those matches, they have had a man sent off.
They were on the back foot ever since William Saliba was sent off in the first half for dragging back Evanilson, but throughout that match they were well below par.

The people questioning Arteta and Arsenal's composure need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. This game won't decide the season and Mikel still remains the best thing to happen to this club since Wenger's departure
