  1. 'Southampton look so assured in the final third'published at 15:39 British Summer Time

    Southampton 2-0 Leicester

    Leon Osman
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Final Score

This is where Southampton fans and us as neutrals want to see them playing their football. Get into the final third and then start the intricate moves, show the skills and the dribbles. They look so much more assured playing in the final third instead of playing out from their own penalty area.

  2. 'Welbeck in fine form'published at 15:39 British Summer Time

    Newcastle 0-1 Brighton

    Ellen White
Former England striker on BBC Final Score

Danny Welbeck is in fine form isn't he! He did well to use his strength to bump off Tino Livramento, used the challenge to push himself forward and it is a lovely finish into the back of the net.

  3. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time

    Southampton 2-0 Leicester

Jamie Vardy careens into Saints keeper Aaron Ramsdale as he makes a clearance, to the displeasure of the home crowd.

Frustration maybe showing for Vardy, who gets away without even conceding a foul.

What Man Utd wouldn't give to still have Danny Welbeck!!

  5. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time

    Manchester United 0-0 Brentford

Manchester United have another opportunity but Alejandro Garnacho wastefully shoots wide when well placed. Been a good game, with both sides having chances but it's still goalless.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time

    Southampton 2-0 Leicester

Southampton are playing some good passing football, but they are also walking a disciplinary tightrope.

Tyler Dibling is the fourth Saints player booked in the opening 36 minutes, for pulling the shirt of Stephy Mavididi.

  7. 'Eriksen misses it to his embarrassment'published at 15:37 British Summer Time

    Manchester United 0-0 Brentford

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I cannot believe that Eriksen has missed that. He could have popped it in either corner.

  8. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time

    Manchester United 0-0 Brentford

A great chance for Christian Eriksen to put Manchester United ahead, but he can't take it when he really should have scored.

  9. Postpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time

    Southampton 2-0 Leicester

Southampton want a free kick on the edge of the box when Tyler Dibling goes over the leg of Oliver Skipp. Leicester want Dibling booked for simulation.

Referee Anthony Taylor obliges neither side.

Super happy for Joe Aribo, I can't remember the last time he scored. First win of the season for the Saints? Time will tell.

    Sulaimon Adelekan

Aribo's last competitive goal came in April, this was his first strike of the season.

    Danny Welbeck (35 mins)

Danny Welbeck scores with Brighton's first shot!

It's so simple. Welbeck chests down a long ball forward, plays a one-two with Georginio Rutter, and then slots in his fifth goal of the season.

Welbeck is in the form of his life! He only managed five goals in the entirety of the last campaign!

  12. 'Once Martinez guessed the right way he was saving it'published at 15:34 British Summer Time

    Fulham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Final Score

Emiliano Martinez reacts after saving a penaltyImage source, Reuters

We always say a penalty is missed when it is saved, so give the keeper credit. Emiliano Martinez, the best keeper in the world for penalties, does well to put off Andreas Pereira, gets big, goes the right way to save the shot.

I don't think Pereira is helped by the debate with Raul Jimenez before he takes it. But it is a poor penalty. So much so that once Martinez guessed the right way he was saving it.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time

    Southampton 2-0 Leicester

A third Southampton booking comes for Taylor Harwood-Bellis for an absolute bone-shaker of a tackle on Facundo Buonanotte.

VAR takes a brief look at it, but the yellow is not upgraded to a red.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:34 British Summer Time

    Newcastle 0-0 Brighton

How are Newcastle not ahead? A brilliant disguised pass from Sandro Tonali puts Alexander Isak clean through.

He only has Bart Verbruggen to beat, but the Dutch stopper spreads himself out and denies the forward with his feet.

  15. goal

GOAL - Ipswich Town 0-1 Evertonpublished at 17 mins

    Iliman Ndiaye

Iliman Ndiaye celebrates with fansImage source, Reuters

Jack Harrison crosses from the right, Ipswich have two chances to clear the ball but can't get it away and it falls to Iliman Ndiaye and he lashes the ball into the top corner from eight yards out.

Poor defending from the hosts once more this season.

  16. Thomas Frank making plenty of notespublished at 15:33 British Summer Time

    Manchester United 0-0 Brentford

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has been making loads of notes during this opening period.

He keeps throwing it on the floor in his technical area, then picking it up again to write something else down.

I am assuming it is match related and he's not just forgotten it is his turn to do the shopping.

  17. CLOSE!published at 15:33 British Summer Time

    Southampton 2-0 Leicester

    So nearly 3-0!

A long throw is flicked on to Flynn Downes, whose shot from close range is half-saved by Mads Hermansen. The ball is bobbling towards the line, before Hermansen gratefully smothers it.

  18. 'Brentford are a well balanced team'published at 15:32 British Summer Time

    Manchester United 0-0 Brentford

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Man Utd are not offering enough in the final third.

There's not the understanding between Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford. That's been the story of their season.

Brentford are a well balanced team.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:32 British Summer Time

    Manchester United 0-0 Brentford

Good saves at both ends at Old Trafford. This time it's United's Andre Onana, flinging himself to his left to push away a beautifully-struck curler from Brentford captain Christian Norgaard.

  20. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time

    Newcastle 0-0 Brighton

Almost the opener. Newcastle's Anthony Gordon whips in a deep corner at the far post which Joelinton leaps to meet but heads just wide.
