Summary

  1. Lonely day for Livi strikerpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time

    Celtic 0-0 Livingston

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Livingston are so deep at the moment with nine players. They only have one striker up front.

It's such a distance for the other four midfielders to get up and support him.

  2. ouch!

Ouch!published at 15:09 British Summer Time

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Dundee

There's a break in play here as Dundee defender Ryan Astley is receiving treatment for a facial injury. He's not gone off the pitch yet, much to the chagrin of the home fans.

Not much football played yet in this one.

  3. Busy start from Celticpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time

    Celtic 0-0 Livingston

Decent start from the home side, with their midfield trio of Paulo Bernardo, Arne Engels and Luke McCowan energetic as they spray the ball around.

Livingston, unsurprisingly, sitting deep in a 5-4-1 formation, asking the question of Celtic: can you break us down?

  4. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time

    Hearts 0-0 Motherwell

Hearts have had territorial domination as Motherwell look to play out.

    No chances as yet, though.

Ben Brannan has a crack and Dundee keeper Jon McCracken has to get down smartly to push away a fierce, low strike.

    And we're off!

  8. Askou expects fast start from Heartspublished at 14:59 British Summer Time

    Hearts v Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou: "I expect them to press us high, that's what they do. They will be man-orientated in their press for as long as they can keep that intensity.

"The game will probably find a stage where they will be more hesitant to go, especially if we succeed in playing through their pressure.

"Then the game will settle a bit and hopefully we have more control with the ball."

The response from the Celtic support this afternoon will be very interesting. Will they be patient if the goals don't flow early? Will there be any visible, or audible, sign of protest against the club hierarchy who some feel are dragging their heels in the transfer window?

With just a few minutes to go until kick-off, Celtic Park is pretty full before the little matter of Tuesday's £40m Champions League shootout in eastern Kazahstan with Kairat Almaty.

  10. McInnes confirms switch to back fourpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time

    Hearts v Motherwell (15:00)

Hearts head coach Derek McInnes: "Slight change of shape, Michael [Steinwender] comes in and gives us that right-back option.

"Motherwell commit to try to get four in their last line so they test your organisation. We feel the best way to negate that is a back four.

"But we also want to try and play with width on the outside with Alan Forrest and Pierre Landry Kabore.

"We feel young James Wilson will run more gaps than [Claudio] Braga would and Lawrence [Shankland] does his best work coming towards the ball.

"We feel James will be a good partner for Lawrence today against a team who like to squeeze the game and play a high line."

Well, well. Just the eight changes for Celtic, including a debut for Hayato Inamura at left-back who manager Brendan Rodgers said during the week wasn't at the level, defensively, where he could include him in European squads to potentially come up against superstars like Lamine Yamal.

There's a first start too for Shin Yamada, who gets the nod over Johnny Kenny up front.

The Lions have never won at Celtic Park. Is this their big chance or will the Celtic fringe players shine in the limelight of the big stage?

  12. Pressley on Congreve signing and Ibrox feelingpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time

    Kilmarnock v Dundee (15:00)

Dundee manager Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "We're really excited to have [Cameron Congreve] on board. He's a player we identified several months ago, enquired about him. Swansea wanted him over pre-season, he played in the League Cup. But we were continuous in our pursuit of him.

"He had a really good loan spell at Bromley in League Two last season and we feel this is a really good step for him. He's exciting, he can play off the side or in the 10 position. He brings the ability to assist and score goals.

"Two weeks ago, we sat in the Ibrox dressing room with a sense of satisfaction and achievement. That feeling we had is a feeling that great teams want on a regular basis.

"We have to prove we can play in that manner on a regular basis. That is the challenge for us. I've seen progression against Hibernian, against Rangers. This is another really difficult game against a team that have started the season very well."

  13. Kettlewell still putting 'own stamp' on Killiepublished at 14:47 British Summer Time

    Kilmarnock v Dundee (15:00)

Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "One change, a little enforced. Djenario Daniels has been struggling with a shoulder injury. The players have shown up well in the last few games.

"We've got good options in the changes we can make. It's our intention to try and get more of a balance in one or two positions we need throughout the season. That'll depend on one or two moving on, or coming in.

"A lot of good things have happened here for several years. I just need to put my own stamp on it and maximise the qualities that the players have. My main objective is to sustain it for longer periods.

"It's been a good start, but it's so hard when you lose 15 players and have to magic up a new group - and I think Steven's in the same boat. We all meet the same challenges, it's about keeping level-headed and pick yourself up from the knocks."

  14. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time

    Hearts v Motherwell (15:00)

Hearts opened the season with six successive wins, with that run coming to an end after a League Cup penalty shoot-out with St Mirren last weekend.

Will they get back on track today? They have won six of their past seven home league games against Motherwell, but the visitors have started brightly under Jens Berthel Askou, picking up draws against Rangers and St Mirren.

  16. Livingston ready to 'suffer' at Celtic Parkpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time

    Celtic v Livingston (15:00)

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Sportsound: "Yeah, there's [Celtic] changes. You show them the same respect. I'm focused on us, just really focused on what we can do as a group.

"We want to be aggressive, we want to be able to press as high as possible. We're going to have to suffer as a group. Today was about getting experience on the park. And probably a little bit of boys that like to do the defensive side of the game.

"The starting XI can be tweaked to a different type of shape. We've definitely got a strong bench."

  17. Rodgers wants 'imposing' Celtic after eight changespublished at 14:38 British Summer Time

    Celtic v Livingston (15:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sportsound: "With the importance of Tuesday [Champions League play-off second leg] plus the travel, we want to be going into that game as fresh as we could. Today gives an opportunity for some players to make their first starts of the season.

"I don't think anything [regarding fan protests] was aimed at the team. Domestically, we've made a very good start.

"David's [Livingston] teams are very well organised. It's a real good test. These types of game, it's going to be around the first goal.

"We want to impose ourselves at home."

  18. Can Killie keep up promising start?published at 14:36 British Summer Time

    Kilmarnock v Dundee (15:00)

It might be a tad early to start thinking about an 'invincibles' season but nobody has beaten Kilmarnock yet.

Stuart Kettlewell's men hit back from 2-0 down to draw at Hibs in their last league outing and since then they have ousted Dundee United from the League Cup.

Towering striker Marcus Dackers has been a handful for defences, providing a goal and assist in those matches.

  19. Livi look for a first...published at 14:34 British Summer Time

    Celtic v Livingston (15:00)

Livingston have never won away to Celtic in 21 attempts, losing 18 of those visits.

Celtic have won their last eight meetings with the West Lothian side in all competitions, scoring two or more goals each time.

David Martindale's side have started with a draw at Kilmarnock and a win over Falkirk but they were well beaten at home to Hibs in the Premier Sports Cup last weekend.

  20. Findlay finds his scoring touchpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time

    Hearts v Motherwell (15:00)

Stuart Findlay is an unlikely presence at the top of the Premiership scoring charts, with the central defender on three goals after two games.

The 29-year-old is just one away from his best return in the competition and could become the first player to net in each of his first three top-flight appearances for Hearts since Rudi Skacel in 2005-06.
