I don't know whether Gundogan thought about taking a touch but he just said why not.
It does take a deflection but it is well struck and the keeper had no chance with it. You'd hope City can go on now and get another two or three.

There's a touch of fortune about it but the hosts won't care. A corner is cleared to Ilkay Gundogan on the edge of the box and his first-time strike takes a big deflection to land in the back of the net.

That goal right on half-time could be the tonic to lift Man City out of their recent slump. Emphatic penalty from Haaland, very confidently struck. Been a very lacklustre first-half performance from City but the goal could open things up now.

Mikel Arteta wanted a ruthless performance from Arsenal and he's got it.
It was important to get that third goal there to make sure there is real distance between the sides in the second half.
But you have to maintain a certain level of intensity in the Champions League. We know Arsenal can defend well, so I think they will hope to take possession of the ball in the second half and run the clock down.

Declan Rice waited an age to take that set-piece, but it was worth the wait. It was whipped in with real pace and precision to give Gabriel the opportunity to guide it into the goal, using the pace of the ball.
