Amad Diallo has that lack of fear you have as a young player coming through.

You don't see the negatives. He is picking the ball up, running at people and trying to be positive.

You need players in your side who are willing to lose the ball in order to create something.

Bruno Fernandes spots Amad Diallo in space in the penalty box and it's a good ball but the winger's header is well kept out by Ederson.

It looked like it might just sneak into that bottom corner but the Brazilian was there to turn it behind.

You know before the match we were highlighting some of the most iconic moments from Manchester derbies gone by. Let's just say so far this game will be getting nowhere near any of those lists.

Manchester United once again had the opportunity to play the ball in quickly from the break, but they slow the game down.

Five United players went to the corner of the penalty area and only one player, Rasmus Hojlund, was inside the penalty area.

None of the United players were thinking about scoring goals and Manchester City can defend easily.

Phil Foden somehow squirms through the Manchester United defence but ultimately has to play it backwards to Ilkay Gundogan. Cries of "shooot" from the home supporters. They have seen the German score a goal or two from that far out. Not this time, though, as it's bundled away.

Cpau089 on X: As a neutral this derby game is terrible. It’s making me miss the Tottenham vs Chelsea one from last Sunday and I don’t particularly like either of them either. At least they were entertaining.

Phil Foden picks up the ball on the edge of the area and tries to slot through into the path of Erling Haaland but it's the wrong side of the Norwegian and United are able to clear the danger.

There's really not much to say about this game at the moment.

Manchester United work the ball around at the back and it comes to Bruno Fernandes out on the right but his delivery has way too much on it.

We don't know the extent of Mason Mount's injury but he is facing his fifth extended absence during his time at Manchester United.

Already this season, he has been out for a month and then seven weeks after an initial comeback lasted two games.

Last term he was out from November to March with a prolonged problem, having already missed five weeks between August and the end of September.

Clearly, it is not his fault and you have to feel sorry for him. But, as with Luke Shaw, can Ruben Amorim rely on him?

You wonder how ready John Stones is. Could he have started today? Does he need minutes as he is going to be restricted?

Pep Guardiola will be trying to ease him back in because of the issues they have had defensively and not wanting to rush someone back.

It's something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

There's almost a bit of fear when Manchester United win a corner but Manchester City insist on taking them short and this time it comes to no avail.

Jeremy Doku tries to wriggle around Matthijs de Ligt on the left-hand side. He can't get a cross away but he does win his side a corner.

Poor pass from Jeremy Doku and Manchester United latch onto it but the eventual ball into the box is blocked. It comes back out to Bruno Fernandes but Doku hustles to win the ball back. Then he gives it away again.

My goodness. Not a great deal of quality on show here.
