Not a red card for me and Haaland’s waving a imaginary card is a disgraceful. Game ruined.

    Sporting 1-0 Kairat Almaty

Champions League new-boys Kairat Almaty can't quite hold on until half-time as Sporting take a deserved lead in Lisbon.

Their opener comes through Francisco Trinccao who curls in a beauty into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Matchday 1, Newcastle at home to Barcelona and have 10 men behind the ball. So much for the "elite" competition...

Manchester City are hammering on the door!

Two big saves in quick succession by Vanja Milinkovic-Savic to keep his side on level terms, including one to deny Nico O'Reilly.

Moments later Josko Gvardiol's attempt flashes just wide of the post.

Newcastle have chosen well when to go short or go long in this game. At this stage, it's better to just get it away and put pressure on the Barcelona goal.

  14. Sanchez own goal puts Frankfurt levelpublished at 20:41 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Galatasaray

In Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt have levelled things up.

Their goal is a proper comedy of errors as Galatasaray scorer Yunus Akgun gives the ball straight to Ritsu Doan on the edge of the box, putting the Japan forward clean through.

Doan's initial effort is saved, but the ball then deflects up to defender Davinson Sanchez and bounces off the ex-Spurs man's thigh and in.

When does this turn frustrating for Manchester City?

They have had 81% possession since the 21st-minute red card but the home side cannot find a way through.

That's just not a red card for me. The keeper is right there, it's at best a foul and a yellow card.

    Man City 0-0 Napoli

Great save by Vanja Milinkovic-Savic to keep out Rodri's first-time strike. It wouldn't have counted as the offside flag was immediately raised but the Napoli goalkeeper didn't know that.

  20. Postpublished at 20:39 BST

    Newcastle 0-0 Barcelona

Barcelona on top now. Marcus Rashford's shot is blocked by England team-mate Kieran Trippier. Newcastle have a seven-minute storm to weather.
