    Newcastle 0-0 Barcelona

Newcastle win an early corner and from it Joelinton glances a header wide from six yards. But he was under pressure from Pau Cubarsi. It wasn't an easy chance at all.

I think Nick Woltemade will be on this pitch sooner rather than later.

    Man City 0-0 Napoli

A cross by Jeremy Doku into the Napoli box is headed clear.

This is going to be a loooooong 45 minutes for the champions of Italy.

  4. Postpublished at 21:06 BST

    Man City 0-0 Napoli

Manchester City have started the second half the way they finished the first, with the ball glued to the feet of the home players.

  5. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:05 BST

    Newcastle 0-0 Barcelona

There were two balls on the pitch. So Newcastle have to retake their kick-off.

Manchester City registered 12 attempts between the 22nd minute and half-time, averaging a shot every 135 seconds in that period.

Will they keep it up and find a goal against their 10-man opponents?

    Back under way.

If Newcastle are to persist with high balls over the top, they need a big target man. Just sayin'.

New Manchester City signing Tijani Reijnders and Napoli defender Sam Beukema go back a long way – the pair met in FC Twente’s youth academy in 2013 and became close friends. Beukema’s father even acted as Reijnders’ agent for a period.

They played together in the Dutch club’s first team before both moving to Italy in 2023, when Reijnders joined AC Milan and Beukema went to Bologna.

It was Beukema who got the better of his friend last season as Bologna won the Coppa Italia final, before both moved on once more – Reijnders to Manchester and Beukema to Naples.

Reijnders has come closest to getting one over on his old mate so far in their latest meeting, with his shot blocked on the line in the first half, but for now Beukema can keep smiling...

  10. 'Right decision to take De Bruyne off'published at 21:01 BST

    HT: Man City 0-0 Napoli

    Michael Brown
Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live Extra

You can see the demands from the Napoli manager. He's not stopped. He's covered so much ground in that technical area trying to organise his side.

It was a big decision to take Kevin de Bruyne off because he knows he could have that special touch, something to give him that winner.

But over a long period it was probably the right decision because they'll need everyone's legs. De Bruyne isn't there for legs, he's the one with the wonderful right foot doing things nobody else can.

Surely McTominay is a shoo-in for the Ballon d'or? Stays on the pitch ahead of De Bruyne.. wouldn't have said that at United 2 years ago.

  12. 'Newcastle should be winning'published at 20:59 BST

    HT: Newcastle 0-0 Barcelona

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at St. James' Park

It's great to see players of this quality playing at the highest level. I'm talking about energy and organisation and wanting to work for their team.

They have the quality to make things happen but how hard thy work when they've not got the ball, I'm talking about both teams. Both managers have set their sides up spot on.

Newcastle have had the better of the chances and really should be a goal to the good.

  13. Will Man City find a winner?published at 20:57 BST

    HT: Man City 0-0 Napoli

A fascinating second half awaits. Antonio Conte's Napoli are defending for their lives and the travelling fans from Italy have been cheering every tackle, every throw-in their team has won since captain Giovanni di Lorenzo was sent off.

This will be a case of points dropped if Manchester City do not go on and win this after Napoli were reduced to 10 men in the 21st minute.

  14. Could Woltemade be introduced at some point?published at 20:55 BST

    HT: Newcastle 0-0 Barcelona

    Ciaran Kelly
BBC Sport reporter at St James' Park

Newcastle United are applauded off at half-time - and there are one or two boos for the officials after Dan Burn went into the book just before the break.

You just wonder when Eddie Howe might be tempted to turn to record signing Nick Woltemade in the second half.

Anthony Elanga is a real outlet down the right, but the hosts are lacking someone to convert one of his crosses at the moment.

I think Anthony Gordon flatters to deceive at the best of times but one thing is for sure, a centre forward he is not.

    Richard

You have to ask what Eddie Howe has seen that no-one else has. Gordon can't play centre forward and they spent a lot of money on Woldemade. Barcelona aren't the opposition against whom you play a weakened team.

  16. Frankfurt add two just before half-timepublished at 20:52 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 Galatasaray

Boom! Frankfurt take the lead, and then give themselves something breathing room just before the break.

First, nineteen-year-old Turkish midfielder Can Uzun scores his first Champions League goal by controlling a low cross with one foot, spinning, and blasting a shot into the top corner with his other.

And then, a mere couple of minutes later, a wide free-kick is nodded in by Jonathan Burkardt.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:50 BST

    Man City 0-0 Napoli

It's one-way traffic but Manchester City cannot find a way through this resolute Napoli defence.

Celebrations in the Napoli defence as Matteo Politano manages to take the sting out of a goal-bound shot from Tijjani Reijnders and goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic falls on the ball.

Manchester City thought they had scored. This is getting frustrating for the hosts.
