You can see why Burnley have been effective, the way they move the ball about is very good.

When Derby have got the ball, they lose it very quickly and allow Burnley to get back into that rhythm of keeping the ball.

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick makes one change from the side that started the 2-0 win over Blackburn last Friday. Defender Rav van den Berg is back in at the heart of the defence for Neto Borges.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke makes two alterations from the side that began the 1-1 draw at struggling Luton. Defender Pascal Struijk is out for a couple of weeks with a calf injury picked up in that game so skipper Ethan Ampadu drops into defence. Ilia Gruev takes Ampadu's spot in midfielder and Brenden Aaronson is in for Willy Gnonto in the number 10.

  8. Nothing predictable herepublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough v Leeds (20:00 BST)

    Adam Lanigan
BBC Sport reporter at Riverside Stadium

The sun is setting after a beautiful Teesside day leading into a glorious evening for football.

We've seen some fairly soporific and predictable fare in the Premier League in recent days - exactly the opposite of what we should get here.

What happens when teams get to the top flight is a question for another time, but the chase to make it is as thrilling as ever.

A Yorkshire derby in old money, but no question a very attractive Championship fixture.

It's important for Middlesbrough, massive for Leeds and could have a huge bearing on the final make up of the top six.

  9. Postpublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 8 April

    Bristol City 0-0 West Brom

A first touch of the ball for Josh Griffiths, collecting a back header.

The 23-year-old Albion keeper is making his first Championship start tonight but he did play 30 games on loan at Bristol Rovers earlier this season before being recalled at the end of the transfer window.

He's in familiar geographical territory tonight at least...

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 8 April

    Watford 0-0 Hull City

    WOOF.

Nearly a sensational start for the home side as Edo Kayembe sees his thunderous shot roclet back off the post.

  11. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 8 April

    Stoke 0-0 Luton

Twenty seconds into the match and Luton's Isaiah Jones goes down in the box following a shoulder tackle from Stoke's Eric-Junior Bocat but the referee correctly waves away Jones' appeals.

  12. Postpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Millwall

Chris Wilder called out the reaction of some Blades fans following their defeat at Oxford on Saturday as ‘a disgrace.’

Fascinated to see how the home crowd respond at Bramall Lane tonight. United have lost only four of their past 32 home games under Wilder in the Championship, but three of those have come since Boxing Day...

  14. Home form has propelled Bristol City up tablepublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 8 April

Bristol City v West Brom (19:45 BST)

    Sophie Hurcom
    BBC Sport at Ashton Gate

After years of finishing mid-table, for Bristol City fans matches like this evening don't get much bigger. There's five games still to come after this but a win tonight against one of their nearest play-off rivals West Brom would be a big a statement as any that the Robins might actually finish in the top six this season.

It's no wonder this evening's game is a sell-out and the team have just been cheered off back down the tunnel after finishing their warm-up.

West Brom have a tricky task on their hands coming up. Bristol City have made Ashton Gate a real fortress under Liam Manning this season, with 39 points taken from 20 games at home - only Burnley, Sheffield United, Leeds and Sunderland have a better record at home.

They have lost only one of their past 12 games in BS3 stretching back to 30 November – a 1-0 loss to Swansea. And it’s that solid home form that has really helped propel them up the table.

It's certainly not a cold, wet night in Stoke tonight. Not yet anyway!

For now, the sun is out, it's a gloriously lovely April evening - and the red and white stripe shirted supporters have arrived in their droves looking almost tanned and almost happy.

What their mood will be like come half past nine tonight is anyone's guess?

The Potters, in 20th, just two points above the drop zone and four points ahead of tonight's visitors Luton, have drifted way too close for comfort for head coach Mark Robins' liking. And, after finishing 17th, 16th, 14th, 14th, 15th and 16th in their six seasons in the Championship since returning from the Premier League, right now, they'd happily settle for 19th, 20th and 21st come season's end, never mind the giddy heights of midtable.

Luton, having looked season-long candidates for a second straight relegation, have suddenly come out from a sad, slumped state in their corner and are trading punches again - eight points from a four-game unbeaten run.

And now they run into Robins again. Having pipped him for promotion to the Premier League in that Championship play-off final two seasons ago, how cruel would it be if they ruined his night again?

  16. One change for Robins; Albion keeper among four swappedpublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 8 April

Marcus McGuane makes his first Robins start since before Christmas in place of Joe Williams in midfield in City boss Liam Manning's only change from the 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday.

Tony Mowbray has opted to make a change between the sticks for Albion with Josh Griffiths replacing under-fire Joe Wildsmith in nets after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home by Sunderland.

Torbjorn Heggem misses out for Albion with an ankle knock with Mason Holgate returning to the defence while fit-again Isaac Price and John Swift return in place of Grady Diangana and Mikey Johnston who drop to the bench alongside Wildsmith.

    Blades XIImage source, Opta

In his pre-match press conference Blades boss Chris Wilder said he was considering giving players who "weren't good" in the 1-0 defeat by Oxford United on Saturday "the opportunity to make it right".

Well he's done exactly that, naming an unchanged XI from the defeat at the Kassam.

Alex Neil has made three changes from the Millwall side which overcame Portsmouth 2-1 on Saturday and has been forced into a reshuffle.

Japhet Tanganga went off with a wrist injury before half-time and is replaced by Ryan Leonard, with Tristan Crama set to move into the centre of defence.

In midfield Billy Mitchell replaces George Saville, who drops to the bench, while Luke Cundle comes in for the absent Aaron Connolly out wide.

Derby boss John Eustace continues to deploy a 5-3-2 formation and makes one alteration from the side which lost 1-0 at Swansea City.

Burnley boss Scott Parker also decides to make a single change from the side that came from behind to claim a crucial three points at Coventry City at the weekend.

Zian Flemming, who was surprisingly left out at the CBS Arena, returns to the starting lineup and he replaces Lyle Foster who drops to the bench.

  19. Hatters visit Potteries in relegation six-pointerpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 8 April

Stoke City v Luton Town (19:45 BST)

A resurgent Luton Town visit Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium just two points from safety after enjoying their best run of form this season.

By winning both of their last two away league games, the Hatters amassed more points on the road in March than they did in their previous 18 away matches combined (W1,D2,L15).

Following their 2-1 victory at Kenilworth Road against the Potters back in December, Matt Bloomfield's men tonight aim for a first league double over Stoke since 1984-85 when David Pleat was at the helm.

Stoke themselves will feel confident going into tonight's relegation six-pointer having won both of their previous two home league matches.

They sit three places and just four points above tonight's opponents and will hope Luton-born Lewis Baker will have a say against his hometown club after his second-half penalty rescued a point for the Potters at Preston on Saturday.

With fellow strugglers Cardiff, Derby County and Hull City also all in action tonight, three points for either side could prove to be pivotal at the end of the season.

  20. Bluebirds set to fly away from trouble?published at 19:31 British Summer Time 8 April

    Preston v Cardiff City (19:45)

Six matches left and it is crunch time for Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds' 0-0 draw at QPR on Saturday saw them drop into the Championship relegation zone, despite being unbeaten in their last three in the league.

City's need for points feels greater at this stage than Paul Heckingbottom's Preston, who sit comfortably in midtable, although the former Sheffield United boss has an excellent personal record against tonight's opposition.

He has won each of his last five league matches against Cardiff since suffering a 1-0 defeat whilst in charge of Barnsley back in November 2017.

Cardiff top goalscorer Callum Robinson returns to Preston after spending five happy years at Deepdale and his appearance off the bench at Loftus Road on Saturday should hold him in good stead as he goes in search of a 12th league goal of the campaign which would equal his previous best tally for a season.
