This is Buxton’s fifth FA Cup proper (first round onwards) tie against fellow non-league opponents – they’ve progressed from each of the previous four.

Chatham Town are featuring in the first round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 1928-29 campaign, when they were beaten 6-1 by Norwich City.

Buxton have progressed from the FA Cup first round in four of their five attempts, including both this century when they eliminated York City in 2021-22 and Merthyr Town in 2022-23.

This game will see Chatham Town play their first FA Cup proper (first round onwards) game since 24 November 1928, a gap of 96 years and 342 days. Only Marlow – who went 98 years and 299 days between January 1893 and November 1991 – have had a bigger gap between matches in the FA Cup.
