Match Facts
- This is Macclesfield FC’s first game in the FA Cup proper (first round onwards) since they were re-formed in 2020.
- AFC Totton’s only previous FA Cup matches (first round onwards) were in the 2011-12 campaign – they won 8-1 against Bradford Park Avenue in the first round, before losing 6-1 against Bristol Rovers in the second round.
- This match is a managerial clash between Macclesfield’s John Rooney and AFC Totton’s Jimmy Ball. Rooney’s brother, Wayne, appeared in three FA Cup finals for Man Utd (lost in 2005 and 2007, won in 2016), while Ball’s father, Alan, was on the losing side in both the 1968 final for Everton vs West Brom and the 1972 showpiece for Arsenal vs Leeds.
- AFC Totton’s two FA Cup games in the competition proper have seen 16 goals scored, an average of eight per game, with at least seven in both games. The only team to have 7+ goals scored in their first three FA Cup matches were Rossendale between 1883 and 1885.
