This is the first meeting between Blackpool and Scunthorpe since November 2019 in an EFL Trophy game, won 3-1 by the Iron at Bloomfield Road.

Scunthorpe won their first FA Cup tie against Blackpool 6-2 in the third round in 1960-61 but they’ve been eliminated in their last two, in consecutive seasons in 1987-88 (third round) and 1988-89 (first round).

Blackpool have won their last five FA Cup first round matches, scoring 14 goals across those victories. Their last elimination was against non-league Boreham Wood in 2017-18, losing 2-1.

Scunthorpe United have lost their last four matches in the FA Cup proper (first round onwards) – they’ve never previously lost five in a row. This is their first match in the first round since 2021-22, losing 1-0 at home to Doncaster.
