Summary

  1. The game where there's always a winnerpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Leeds v Blackburn (15:00 GMT)

Which way are we calling this one, then? One result that's very unlikely is a draw, as we've not seen the points shared between these two sides in any of their last 15 league games.

The visitors just shade the head-to-head with eight wins to the hosts' seven, but Leeds come into the game in red-hot form with five wins in their last six.

Blackburn won the previous meeting between these two sides 1-0 courtesy of a Todd Cantwell penalty on November 30, one of just three defeats this season for league leaders Leeds.

A home win would open up a five-point lead at the top of the table, with second-placed Sheffield United facing a tricky trip to the Stadium of Light tonight.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Alex Neil sends on Ryan Wintle for George Saville before Joe Bryan sends a free kick straight into the arms of Us keeper Jamie Cumming.

The sums up the feeling of the home support - less than five minutes of normal time left.

  3. Postpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

The away side win a corner and find Matt Phillips in the middle but the the substitute manages to head it the wrong direction.

That would have finished it, surely.

  4. Postpublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Millwall have definitely cranked up the pressure but still can't find that way through.

Again Romain Esse works his way through but when the ball falls to substitute George Honeyman it's blazed way over.

About to enter the final 10 minutes.

  5. 'The Millwall players have lost their heads'published at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford

    Nathan Cooper
    BBC Radio Oxford commentator

The Millwall players have lost their heads a bit and so have the fans.

However, you are starting to feel like this referee might be under pressure to give Millwall a penalty here, they have had three claims already.

  6. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Joe Bryan goes for goal at the near post and George Saville then goes down as he attempts to shield the ball.

Nothing doing for the referee and Oxford survive.

That's just the second shot on target we've had in this half - the other being Ruben Rodrigues's header.

  7. 'It was a well-deserved draw'published at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    FT: Plymouth 2-2 Bristol City

    David Byrne
Ex-Argyle winger on BBC Radio Devon

Plymouth dropped off the pace after conceding the first goal, and allowed Bristol to have comfortable possession. But when we scored it gave us confidence to go on and take the game to them.

It was a well deserved draw and Plymouth didn't deserve to lose the game. We do allow teams to take the game to us and not us taking it to them when we are at home and we have got to get out of this way of playing.

  8. Postpublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Millwall win a free-kick in a dangerous position as Romain Esse is brough down.

Joe Bryan is standing over it.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    QPR 3-1 Watford

Kwadwo Baah hits the crossbar in added time for the visitors but their first Championship outing of 2025 ends in defeat at Loftus Road.

Michael Frey and Jimmy Dunne gave put the hosts 2-0 up before Baah hit back for the visitors.

But the two-goal lead was restored less than a minute later as Sam Field nodded in from close range.

A highly entertaining start to the year in the EFL - more please!

  10. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Goal scorer Ruben Rodrigues and Przemyslaw Placheta are withdrawn, their work here is done.

Matt Phillips and Hidde ter Avest come on to try and see this out.

  11. Postpublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Millwall are the ones chasing this game but you wouldn't think it without seeing the score, Oxford look very good for their lead.

The Lions win a corner and the shot from Femi Azeez goes behind are a short game of pinball.

A set piece certainly looks the most likely route through for Millwall.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Plymouth 2-2 Bristol City

    Breathless. Absolutely breathless.

Plymouth deserve a point for their approach, they've played some great stuff. But they are down at the bottom for a reason; their defence is far too open.

Bristol City will feel that was two points dropped. They got themselves ahead twice; their play-off hunt falters.

  13. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    QPR 3-1 Watford

Watford centre-back Mattie Pollock heads in for the visitors but it's pulled back for a foul in the build-up.

The Hornets have certainly had their chances today but it looks like QPR are going to see this out for a deserved three points.

  14. goal

    In stoppage time!

Julio Pleguezuelo levels for Plymouth! He pokes home Adam Randell's free kick from close range with a superb controlled volley!

There had just been an announcement of five stoppage time minutes.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Here comes Femi Azeez, with Duncan Watmore making way for Millwall.

  16. Postpublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utd

Now what can Alex Neil produce in his first game in charge of Millwall, this wasn't in the script.

Millwall often so strong at home, Oxford pretty terrible away.

Femi Azeez is going to come on shortly, less than 30 minutes for the home side to salvage this and for the Us to secure a massive three points.

  17. Postpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    QPR 3-1 Watford

Paul Smyth has been electric for the home side today.

Watford's defenders have been on his coat tails all afternoon and he's done that twice in the last few minutes.

First time his cross evades everyone and then minutes later he draws Hornets keeper Daniel Bachmann into action.

He's embodied everything that's been good about the Rs today.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Plymouth 1-2 Bristol City

Rami Al Hajj is withdrawn for Plymouth, replaced by Andre Gray.

  19. goal

GOAL: Millwall 0-1 Oxford Utdpublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Ruben Rodrigues (57 mins)

    Big goal for the visitors!

And it's the two players who have looked the most dangerous for the Us who combine for it.

Przemyslaw Placheta sends a brilliant ball in from the right for Ruben Rodrigues to jump highest and send a looping header goalward.

Murray Wallace gets his head to it on the line but can only send it up on to the crossbar and into the net.

Oxford United lead away from home.

  20. Postpublished at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Millwall 0-0 Oxford Utd

Both teams have their moments when they look a real threat but still we wait for the opening goal.

Millwall get the ball forward but no one wants to take a shot and eventually Macaulay Langstaff takes it on - but it's high and wide of the goal.
