Great chance, great strike from Andre Brooks, palmed away, we were just unlucky it did not fall to a Blades striker.

Blades goalkeeper Michael Cooper again has to dash out of his penalty area to head clear a bouncing ball after Anthony Patterson had launched a huge clearance kick fully 60 yards in the air.

But Sunderland stopper Patterson then has to use his hands to deny the visitors a leveller after a slick break which ends with Andre Brooks being played in on the left of the area to fire in a stinging angled drive.

Harrison Burrows produces a fine delivery which is met by Anel Ahmedhodzic but his header down into the path of Jack Robinson sees the flag go up immediately, before he slides into Anthony Patterson to divert the ball home.

Wilson Isidor has been booked after suggesting to Matt Donohue that he book Robinson for the slide.

I think United need to find a route to Kieffer Moore and play off the back of him.

Good chance for Jobe Bellingham as the ball sticks at his feet in the heart of the Blades penalty area but his powerful left-footed effort is always rising and fizzes inches over Michael Cooper's crossbar.

Rhian Brewster barges into Luke O'Nien to try to break onto a bouncing ball on the edge of the box but concedes a free-kick, and gets squared up to by Chris Mepham for his trouble.

Eli Mayenda goes down off the ball after being blocked by United midfielder Tom Davies and the hosts are awarded a free-kick by Matt Donohue to huge cheers from the home fans who think they have been on the wrong end of a few decisions of late.

Just a few signs of frustration creeping in from the Sunderland players.

Eli Mayenda is played in down the right of the area out of nothing but Anel Ahmedhodzic produces an inch-perfect sliding challenge to take the ball, and the man, and surely prevent a third Sunderland goal.

Sorry Blades fans, after that big build-up Gus Hamer swings in a tame free-kick which loops straight into the grateful arms of Anthony Patterson after a Jobe Bellingham foul on halfway.

The Blades are piling on the pressure, with most of it now involving Harrison Burrows on the left, plus a couple of flicks and tricks from Gus Hamer and Callum O'Hare.

When those three are on it, so are Sheffield United.

Harrison Burrows straight into the action as he combined with Callum O'Hare to find Rhian Brewster but he can only snatch a low shot wide of target from 12 yards out.

Ironic jeers from the home faithful.

The Blades need goals and those are good options to have on the bench.

Pretty much every set-piece has seen both sets of players engaged in some dark arts in the penalty area, but Matt Donohue spots nothing untoward this time as Sunderland manage to clear the high corner into the middle.

Wilson Isidor's pace is causing United a headache. Alfie Gilchrist makes a hash of his attempted clearance of a bouncing ball with Isidor breathing down his neck and his keeper Michael Cooper has to race out of his area to head away from the Sunderland forward in full flight.
