Here is more from Sean Dyche on his Everton exit and subsequent replacement by David Moyes:

“The right time has come to leave the club, with the team in good shape. David is a manager who I have great respect for and I believe he and his staff will help to push the club forward again and build on the stable footing we have implemented in the past two years.

“I wish everyone well going forwards including the new owners, who I hope will take the club to the next level and deliver the success which every Evertonian wants.

“My part as a custodian has been played and I will forever take great pride in that. After going through some extremely difficult situations, I never lost faith in everyone around me and we did everything we could to protect the badge, safeguarding it and the name of Everton Football Club.”

  3. An honour to manage Everton - Dychepublished at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time

Sean Dyche, who left Everton last week, has commented on his exit for the first time in a statement released via the League Managers Association:

“It was an honour to manage Everton, a football club with a significant heritage and an enormous following in Liverpool and all over the world, through one of its toughest periods in its history. Despite the challenges we faced, I wanted to ensure that the club’s narrative was focused on the positive direction it will take in the future and that the team could focus on competing in the Premier League in the present.

“I thank my staff, the players and all involved who played their part, as it simply wasn’t possible without their support and expertise. I also thank the fans who came through for us many times when we all needed their support."

  4. Brooks avoids red after VAR checkpublished at 09:08 Greenwich Mean Time

There was a Premier League rarity at Stamford Bridge - a referee opting not to send a player off after being recommended a video review by the video assistant referee (VAR).

The VAR spotted David Brooks taking out Marc Cucurella off the ball, but referee Rob Jones elected to only book the midfielder after reviewing the incident on a monitor.

It is the first time this season that the on-field referee has gone against the advice of his VAR after a video review.

As a neutral I'm really happy for Reece James. His career has been littered with injuries but he keeps dragging himself back to fitness. Massive heart, and a very good player to boot.

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola said Reece James' equaliser should have been disallowed because of interference in the wall by Marc Cucurella in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.

Like Brentford, it also finished 2-2 at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea club captain Reece James marking his Premier League return from injury with a stoppage-time equaliser.

The full-back, who has had rotten luck with injuries in recent years, bent a free-kick into the corner in the 95th minute to earn the Blues a point.

Cole Palmer had opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 13th minute with a lovely faked shot that befuddled goalkeeper Mark Travers before stroking home.

Bournemouth levelled in the second half through a penalty from Justin Kluivert after Antoine Semenyo was fouled by Moises Caicedo.

Semenyo then put the Cherries ahead with fierce left-footed strike, before James denied them a fine win late.

The relief on his face is clear to see.

Forest v Liverpool was pure theatre. The best defensive team in England against the best attacking team in England. Amazing stadium atmosphere. Better than most games between the ‘big six’ this year. Long way to go but either would be worthy champions in May.

    Brentford 2-2 Man City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was giving nothing away on potential new signings after last night's draw with Brentford but reinforcements are on the way.

City are in the process of completing deals for Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras teenager Vitor Reis.

In addition, they are negotiating with Eintracht Frankfurt for forward Omar Marmoush, who scored a goal and claimed two assists in his side's league win over Freiburg last night.

Guardiola has already given up on the title but he will hope the addition of new players will provide the push needed to ensure City achieve Champions League qualification.

Manchester City continue to stumble after conceding a 2-0 lead late on to draw at Brentford.

A double from Phil Foden - the second on 78 minutes - looked to have secured a welcome three points for Pep Guardiola's side.

But Yoane Wissa pulled one back before captain Christian Norgaard's 92nd-minute headed equaliser saw them rescue a point in a thrilling finish.

Brentford almost stole the victory in the 95th minute, only for Nathan Ake to head Bryan Mbeumo's curled effort off the goalline.

  16. 'A night of pure theatre'published at 07:33 Greenwich Mean Time

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Liverpool

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis sat in front of his own personal giant television screen in the City Ground directors' box glued to a night of pure Premier League theatre.

Whether Marinakis' gaze was fixed on the television or events unfolding on the pitch in front of him, he was watching the fulfilment of his burning ambition to have Forest punching above their weight with the top-flight superpowers, in this case Premier League leaders Liverpool.

This was a night that had everything – from a wonderful fiery atmosphere as Forest fans live the high life, to a brilliantly drilled defensive display from Nuno Espirito Santo's side, only underdone by a double substitution of genius from Liverpool head coach Arne Slot that almost turned defeat to victory.

The end result was a 1-1 draw that left Liverpool six points clear of Forest with a game in hand, the Premier League's surprise package demons.

  19. Jota rescues Liverpoolpublished at 07:18 Greenwich Mean Time

Let's start at the City Ground, where super sub Diogo Jota's second-half equaliser secured a point for Liverpool and maintained their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Jota had only been on the pitch 22 seconds when he headed in a corner from another substitute, Kostas Tsimikas, the pair having just come on for Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.

This management lark is easy, eh?

Chris Wood (who I still have not got into my Fantasy Team) had given Forest the lead in the first half after a fine pass from Anthony Elanga (who I have got in).

Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels then made two fine stops to deny Jota and made a late save from Mohamed Salah to seal a point for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.
