Real Madrid have been stunned by that early Atletico goal and they are yet to grow into the game.

Still plenty of time for that to change though.

Brugge boss Nicky Hayen will be encouraged by their bright start. Plenty of possession, although they are yet to work Emi Martinez and the visitors really need to score first to keep the tie alive.

Matty: Zinny should have been in midfield for some of our recent struggles! Such a good left foot. Great goal - and an assist for Sterling!

  8. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 PSV Eindhoven (agg 8-1)published at 6 mins

    Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko scores the first goal of the night at the Emirates and what a goal it is too. Raheem Sterling wins the ball on the right wing, it falls to Zinchenko, operating in a number 10 position, he cuts inside, gets to the edge of the penalty area and unleashes a gorgeous left-footed finish.

There's no celebration from the Arsenal man as Zinchenko has previously played for PSV. That's 8-1 on aggregate.

Atletico work the ball out wide really well. Brilliant by Conor Gallagher in the middle, it's the Englishman that gets the touch. It's not Jude Bellingham but Gallagher. What a start to this game. Tie level after 30 seconds. Wow.

  19. Race for Europepublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March

There will be at least seven English teams playing in Europe next season, although that could rise to 11. However, that would require Premier League sides winning every European competition with certain teams finishing outside the top five.

Normally the top four go into the Champions League, with fifth in the Europa League. However, the Premier League is likely to earn an extra Champions League spot, meaning a top-five finish would be enough. But if English sides win both the Champions and Europa League (and don't finish in the top five) seven Premier League teams would be in Europe's top club competition.

Two English sides will be in the Europa League, but that rises to three if Chelsea win the Conference League (and finish outside the top five).

So, let's say no English team wins a European competition, but the Premier League gets an additional Champions League spot.

Then, this currently is who would be playing in Europe next season.

Champions League: 1. Liverpool, 2. Arsenal, 3. Nottingham Forest, 4. Chelsea, 5. Manchester City.

Europa League: 6. Newcastle, 7. Brighton

    Conference League: 8. Aston Villa.

(If a team from outside the top seven wins the FA Cup, they go into the Europa League, Brighton would drop into the Conference League with Aston Villa missing out.)
